Good morning!
Long time, no see. Hope everyone is doing well. I am taking a break from politics and the noisy parties “next door”.
My partner and I were in the US recently for a relative’s wedding, then we we went on a tour that included Atlanta, then Charleston, then a “backdoor” tour of the Biltmore estate in Asheville, NC followed by a weekend of fun in Nashville that included sitting through Grande Ole Opry’s radio show from the Ryman Auditorium. It was great fun! And during the trip we were thrilled to be in part of the country that has gracious manners, big smiles, friendly service, and superb hospitality.
Made sure my partner sampled the following: cheese grits, biscuits and gravy, Chick-Fil-A, Dr. Pepper, pulled pork sandwiches at Moe’s BBQ, Waffle House, and bourbon Old-Fashioneds. We missed out on fried chicken and fried okra — next time!
We are always so happy to be in the US, where there is an abundance of pork products, especially down South:

Your partner is going to crave that stuff at home now…but its never the same! Happy you got to come to the states for a bit. Id invite you to CA but its a bit ashy and overly full of progressive fruits n nuts…but our wine is tasty. 😁

Well, you missed the beginning of the fall food fests in NOLA. Still the best bet to wear ANSI-rated overshoes when schlepping downtown parts of the city but as we’ve had some heavy rains the park area along the river where some are held has been cleared by the WHO, EPA and two winos who spent the night prone.
And I ain’t touching that hook.

BTW, are they still putting sawdust on the Ryman floor? DId you go over to Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge? Great story about my VN bud and I drinking upstairs there many years ago. The place is a gem.

A few more hours east and south and you’d have been right in my yard. Next time ZM, you let me know and I’ll throw together a feast featuring all your favorites.
And if you ever go to Nashville again, skip everywhere else and eat at Monell’s. Not only the only place I have ever eaten at that really does have true home cooking southern fare, but you share a huge table with other people. At first I didn’t think I’d like this, but we have had some wonderful conversations there.
Glad you guys had a great time!

Gotta real match going on outside tonite. That fox that harrasses my neighbor’s ‘exotic chicken’ stock is out there ascreamin’ its head off. that fires up the ‘exotic roosters’ and the fox/roosters fire up another neighbor’s hunting dogs. It’s a regular rural symphony out there tonite.

I’ll be napping here and she’ll be napping on the plane. She won’t be back until late but you can’t hear the chorus outside unless you’re outside – the neighbors ate 1/4-mile or better away. The sound just travels across the lake and you have to listen for it.

Sounds pleasant. So much better than the scrowls of Urban wildlife.
Our nights here are almost always quiet.
We have a fox in the neighborhood and squirrels, human critters are quiet, though I live next to Gladys Kravitz who is sure to let me know if anything ever happens. Apparently the police went to my other neighbors door about a week ago. Her son is in the military, great kid, who has a not so clear minded friend, officers used 3 SUV’s to ask his mum if she knew where the friend might be or if he was staying at her house 🙄.

It’s probably fox mating season here though with the amount of time they’ve been screaming lately its probably more of a territory thing.
We have about 9 acres on the far side of the lake, all scrub and trees, perfect fox or whatever territory and it backs right up to the ‘chicken’ farm though the woods and area just have t be chock full of rodents. We have no reason to mess with that land and leaving it as-is creates a nice sanctuary.
Thank heaven we’re done with that urban wildlife thing, we slogged thru it for years and much prefer aging out in the woods.

Good morning everybody!
Joke of the day (email from a friend):
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked
about his bill, and the barber replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you,
I’m doing community service this week.’
The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank
you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill,
the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing
community service this week.’
The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ‘thank you’
card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his
bill, the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing
community service this week.’
The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen
Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the
citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
As Ronald Reagan said: “Both politicians and diapers need to be changed
often and for the same reason.”

Good morning, Stella…better watch it on the church photo, though. Someone at CTH the other day said that spires on churches are phallic symbols indicating worship of Baal.
When you think about it…pens are sorta phallic…telephone poles, vertical paper towel holders, plastic water and cola bottles, the bodies of 747s, aerials, fire hoses, various food items (I’ll leave others to decide which ones), vases…not to mention the real thing. Sometimes you just gotta laugh.

Those Cinnamon Rolls look so delicious!
Since I am too late for breakfast I am going to run over to Walmart to see if they have some Rapid Rise Yeast. (Never heard of it until last night when I watched a Amazon Prime Cook’s Country Season 7 episode.)
The video had this yummy looking recipe for Quicker Cinnamon Buns. In case anyone wants to impress family or friends with a yummy breakfast treat over the next week, you can find the recipe here:
http://www.startribune.com/quick-honest-they-are-cinnamon-buns/228255351/
I think it would help to watch the video if you have access to it. (This segment is about 10 or 15 min. long.) American Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country have simple explanations on food prep. Everything I have tried has been delicious.

Happy Thanksgiving All Y’all,
We sang this hymn this morning:
“Give Thanks”
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son
And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”
And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son
And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”
And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

Your comment reminded me of one of Harry Chapin’s saddest songs.
He definitely had a gift for story telling.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

Prayer for Justice Kavanaugh:
https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/kavanaugh-v.-ford
“After watching her husband rip into pro-death senators who used Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in attempts to derail the appointment of her husband to the U.S. Supreme Court, Ashley is asking all people of faith to unite in praying Psalm 40, which reads:”
“BE PLEASED, O LORD, TO DELIVER ME, LOOK DOWN, O LORD TO HELP ME. LET THEM BE CONFOUNDED AND ASHAMED TOGETHER, THAT SEEK AFTER MY SOUL TO TAKE IT AWAY. LET THEM BE TURNED BACKWARD AND BE ASHAMED THAT DESIRE EVILS TO ME.”
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

Jammed to this, this morning, on the local outdoor piano. So many smiles, and forced whole-family dancing, when you play this one on a big JBL Charge 3 speaker, riding around. Once I figure out how to use the black keys (takes a couple of minutes for me), I realize how cool it is, because those are the ones most in tune, because those are the ones least used by people. This song is almost all black keys when jamming. I tear it up, get recorded by tourists and locals, and then ride away happy.
I love this town.

At tax-return time I’m buying either the JBL Extreme or the JBL Boombox.
Probably the Extreme, because I think I can figure out a way to hook it up to my bike.
The Boombox? Heck no. That thing’s huge. I wish I could hear it in my environs. I really wish I could hear that thing. The Boombox is the Extreme, but bigger, still fully waterproof (throw it in Lake Michigan, it keeps playing, and floating), with even lower frequency bass and more volume. But the Boombox has a giant handle (of necessity) while the Extreme is a cylinder like my Charge 3, which means easy attachment to a bicycle frame.
I think I’ll go with the JBL Extreme. The Charge 3 has served me very, very well.
I’ve a Denon receiver and Polk Audio sub and 5 other speakers in my apartment, and the Charge 3 dang near equals it, in this space. And on main street. And it looks like a water bottle. Astounding audio.
It’s fun, I’ve discovered, making people smile and dance against their will. And they do.
