   Our good friends on the Left/Anti-Trump side are filling the media with stories about how Trump’s screwing the vets, rewarding cronies and creating a huge financial disaster by allowing vets to choose private treatment over the VA.
   In truth the VA has been fighting allowing vets to choose private care over VA butchery for a long time. The VA bureaucracy and its ties to the local to national contractors who feed off of the system plus the $$$$ brought into the local economy by the VA has long been the main reason pols have favored the organization over the vets. People forget the money a VA facility brings to a locality – but the politicians don’t.
   The VA HATES the idea of having to compete with private facilities, there have been programs in place to allow vets to use private providers but the VA bureaucracy has access to them a tortuous affair at best as it fights to keep the vets totally dependent on VA substandard care. To say that VA care is better than private care is their usual reply but if you ask the vets what they’d prefer (something the VA or the pols aren’t about to do) you’d get a quite different opinion.
