The Oklahoman was bought out recently and hopefully this editorial is a sign local media is going to change from being cheerleaders for liberal policies and print the truth.

    Morning Everyone! 🙂

Today I’ll be starting the Thanksgiving series along with, for 4 days, a Clyde Aspevig river series. I really, really like his paintngs.

This first painting is “The Evening Show” & It is one of my favorites. I love that color of the sky when you can also see the moon. I run outside & photoraph it as much as possible when I see it.

To start the Thanksgiving series, we have a couple of young pilgrims trying to get a turkey that show 2 different artistic styles 😉

    and

Notice The Farmer’s Wife magazine in 1929 had over 900,00 copies sold – that’s a lot! I’ll post a pic later from the early 30’s that had over 1 million. Wonder when that readership declined?

And here for the Little Guy is a photo of beagles similar to the painting yesterday. Are beagles his favorite Gil? My DH’s favorites are beagles & Bernese Mountain Dogs.

I think if it were not for my ear problems causing vertigo & sea sickness, I’d be out on the water as much as I could – and I can’t swim no matter how many times I try. The air is so clean, and clear! The relative solitude and silence is wonderful too.

Two from AT today that are phenomenal essays.

Do you lock the doors of your house at night? Do the elites have walls around their castles?

Why? Is it because you and they hate everyone outside that door or wall? Or is it because you love and wish to protect everyone inside?

I don’t understand why people can’t take the microcosm and apply it to the macrocosm. If they’re seriously true to their stated belief that nationalism is a very bad thing, then they should live like it, and keep the doors to their house unlocked, and put up a sign outside that says, “Everyone! Come on inside! If you get beyond the threshold, you’re an automatic member of our family! Make yourselves at home, pick a room to sleep in, even with our little girl!”

But none of these people do that. They have walls and locked doors around their castles. I question their integrity and honesty.

    • If you don’t live what you say you believe, then you don’t believe it, then you’re just trying to manipulate us. Do it, anti-nationalists. Keep your doors unlocked at night.

I liken it to Al Gore’s admonitions vs. his carbon output. You know how many lights he has lit, continuously, at his many mansions, and how many miles he travels by private jet?

He doesn’t believe what he says. Neither do anti-nationalists. They still lock their doors at night, and decide who to invite inside or not. God Bless Poland and Japan, and Hungary and Austria. They understand.

I wish there was still an England, and a France, and a Germany, and a Norway.

They’re gone, now. You go there, and you will experience cultures other than those ones, and even to the exclusion of those ones. Thank you, Macron and your ilk.

This Day in History: The 12-year-old who served in World War II

    http://www.taraross.com/2018/11/tdih-calvin-graham/?fbclid=IwAR3ruz5fZNc9YPsId2zjJfSqki_XV3RvLMRcM6eBDdiCn4WTWwiAxAJGijw

On this day in 1942, a 12-year-old distinguishes himself in combat. Yes, you read that correctly: A 12-year-old fought in World War II. Calvin Leon Graham was the youngest person to serve.

Calvin had long been accustomed to taking care of himself. He lost his father at a young age. When his mother remarried, her new husband was abusive. “Seemed like every time our stepdad came home, he’d get on Calvin,” his sister later said. “My brother pretty much had to raise himself.”

Calvin moved out, selling newspapers and shining shoes to make money. Yet even as an 11-year-old, he knew that he wanted to help the war effort. He practiced speaking in a deep voice. He began shaving, hoping it would make his face look older. After he turned 12, he hatched a plan with another boy: They stole a notary public’s seal, forged parental signatures, and enlisted.

Calvin’s biggest worry? The dentist. The Navy had one checking new recruits.

“[H]e’d know how young I was by my teeth,” Calvin later said. “When the dentist kept saying I was 12, I said I was 17.” The dentist finally let him go when Calvin noted that several underage boys had already gotten through. “[H]e said he didn’t have time to mess with me, and he let me go.”

Calvin was assigned to USS South Dakota. That battleship left Pearl Harbor during October 1942. A few weeks later, it was at the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands (pictured). By November 14 and 15, it was engaged in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. South Dakota took 42 hits that day.

Seaman Calvin Graham was injured. But he also became a hero.

Calvin was manning his anti-aircraft gun when shrapnel tore through his mouth and jaw. At another point, an explosion blew him three stories down into the ship. Nevertheless, the wounded 12-year-old began pulling others to safety. “I took belts off the dead and made tourniquets for the living and gave them cigarettes and encouraged them all night,” Calvin later described. “It was a long night. It aged me.”

Calvin received the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart, but his story would not get to end on that happy note. South Dakota soon returned to the United States for repairs. Calvin left, without the Navy’s permission, to attend his grandmother’s funeral. At about the same time, his mother reportedly saw Calvin in news footage from the war. She notified the Navy that Calvin was underage. Calvin was thrown into the brig.

His sister’s loud complaints about the “Baby Vet” in a military prison got him released after three months, but Calvin was kicked out of the Navy without an honorable discharge. He was stripped of his medals…

    • I eagerly await the demise of Government schools, who say, “We own your ‘kids’ until the point when they reach the age of 18, so we can complete their programming.”

I trained a 14-year-old young man to be a kitchen worker over the last few days. He’s going to be a rockstar in any kitchen, and he has a very analytical mind and a work ethic.

14-year-old latinos and Muslims have kids in America, and nobody bats an eye.

White people are kids until 18. By fiat, and by design.

That guy was an acting adult by 12. Like America used to be.

That’s the first line to a great rap. If you ever heard Aesop Rock or Sage Francis you’d understand. That just rolls off the tongue, in 4/4. Eminem would sing that line but he would YELL all the “o” sounds like he’s yelling at you. I don’t like being yelled at by the artists that I listen to. So I don’t listen to Eminem. Unless forced to because work. Be calm, Eminem. Stop it.

Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar admits she supports BDS, after saying it was “not helpful” before election
November 15, 2018 11:00 AM By Robert Spencer

The BDS movement is frankly neo-Nazi in its goals, as the Nazis staged nationwide boycotts of Jewish-owned businesses early in the life of the Third Reich. So Ilhan Omar had every reason to distance herself from this movement before the election. But now Representative Omar has nothing to lose.

Talk about a twist on this story. They’re all liars!

A feel-good tale of a homeless man using his last $20 to help a stranded New Jersey woman buy gas was actually a complete lie, manufactured to get strangers to donate more than $400,000 to help the down-and-out good Samaritan, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Burlington County prosecutor Scott Coffina announced criminal charges against the couple who told the story to newspapers and television stations along with the homeless man who conspired with them to tell the story.

He said the money, donated to the homeless man, Johnny Bobbitt, will be refunded to people who saw the story and contributed to him through a GoFundMe page set up by the couple, Mark D’Amico and Katelyn McClure.

“The entire campaign was predicated on a lie,” Coffina said. “It was fictitious and illegal and there are consequences.”

Bobbitt was arrested Wednesday night by U.S. marshals in Philadelphia and remained in custody Thursday on probation detainers and a $50,000 bond. A message was left with a previous attorney of Bobbitt’s.

D’Amico and McClure surrendered to authorities Wednesday night and were released. Their attorney said they have no comment. All were charged with theft by deception.

Investigators searched the Florence, New Jersey, home of D’Amico and McClure in September after questions arose about what happened to the money they raised for Bobbitt. The couple claimed he helped McClure get gas after she became stranded on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia last year.

McClure said that in an attempt to thank Bobbitt for his help, she set up the fundraising page, which brought in more than $400,000 and landed them in the national news.

Coffina said almost no part of the tale was true. McClure didn’t run out of gas. Bobbitt didn’t spot her in trouble and give her money.

Less than an hour after the couple set up the page to solicit donations, McClure sent a text message to a friend acknowledging the story was “completely made up.”

Prosecutors began investigating after Bobbitt claimed he wasn’t getting the money that had been raised on his behalf. He later sued the couple.

It’s not exactly clear what happened with the money, though Bobbitt’s attorney has said it’s all gone.

In a small IT department you have to be willing to tackle problems sometimes that make you uncomfortable because your skills may not be solid in a particular area. Usually things turn out okay. The internet helps a lot – something that we didn’t have when I first worked in IT. Truthfully, I amazed myself sometimes, to be honest. I don’t think I ever made a problem worse – at least not hopeless!

There were only a few of us managing pc’s, networks, internet, telephone systems, heating and cooling and building security systems, and we had to cover for each other. Usually we worked things out, or at least knew where to go for help if we needed it.

A day after Florida’s election left top state races too close to call, a Democratic party leader directed staffers and volunteers to share altered election forms with voters to fix signature problems on absentee ballots after the state’s deadline.
