The Russian space program was fraught with deaths, seems they used stolen technology badly and their life support tech was particularly bad.
Their life support tech didn’t get to a livable level until an Air Force officer who’d been a life support engineer for NASA was shot down in the North and mysteriously disappeared while a POW. Suddenly their systems were more gooder and looked suspiciously like…NASA’s!

During Vietnam the AF screwed up a lot like that – remember Bat 66? A lot of pilots who’d had assignments that made them choice targets for the Communists wanted and were allowed to fly combat missions, especially over Vietnam. When they were shot down it didn’t take the NV and their Russian partners long to look thru their records and check the target’s background.
DoD’d learned by the GWOT and there were a few of us who’d volunteered for Iraq of Afghanistan but were blocked because of where we worked. We’d have gone directly from a hi-value assignment to a combat zone and our assignments were blocked. My friend who was a VN and Desert Storm vet got a 6 month assignment to Iraq but they must have caught that as he was not allowed to leave the Green Zone, all of his work was done there.

Dog looks about 4 months old, probably an almost-white golden retriever (or mix). And the leaf is huge.

Lovely…..you are always there for me and it feels so caring and personal!
I had to spend Doggity Day, my favorite, in surgery from 8 am until early afternoon and then came home to sleep off the sedation…was to help the flow of liver bile and the surgeon said he was encouraged that my chemo must be working as the space he needed for access to the bile ducts was much improved over the last 4 months.
Then I came home and snuggled with my lady dachshund in the bed with me….she who will always jump in bed unless someone rattles her food bowl first.
Love my doggies. and my family . and all my well wishing friends.
I am ever positive.
miss you all, just not on the internet so much lately.
