Good morning, TOG&C! It’s easy to get lost in the turmoil and crisis. Remembering that we have a direct line to the Almighty to Whom we may pray for wisdom, brings us courage to keep on doing what’s right.
When I moved to Los Angeles in the mid 70s, I heard rumors that Doris Day was secretly quite the butch lesbian. It always seemed unlikely to me. You have much more “insider” info than anyone I’ve ever known; have you ever heard such a tale?
I’ve never once heard that. I knew folk who worked with Alfred Hitchcock and he was quite a gossip. So likely if the Day rumor were true, it would have become a bit of tittering tell-tale from his office. Hitch knew A LOT!
That rumor might have gotten started because she was such close friends with Rock Hudson. If I remember correctly, she always called him “Roy” which is his given name.
Thats a pretty cool pumpkin patch! So much in the way of gory for decor that people forget keeping it simple can have a much better dramatic effect.
Ive got to carve ours on Tuesday. Been too hot to do them early. Kiddo has a parade and party day at school, then if hes up for it trick or treating at home. Mommy’s taking him so we will see if he fills his bag this year again.

That, along with actual great art, is why so often on holidays I post OLD magazine covers, not anything new. The new stuff is often just so awful and depressing bordering on eil.

Hope the little guy does not go into sugar overload and then crash when it’s all gone! That used to be me in the days following Halloween.
I let him have 1 piece after trick or treating and go through it all the next day. Anything from mexico or china goes in the trash. Anything he wont eat goes with daddy to work. All the chocolate I hide from daddy. My system usually works!
We prefer all snoopy decor and vintage decor and “cute traditional spooky”. I find the stuff out there is disturbing, kiddo doesnt like it either.

There is a movement in some Catholic churches to have the kiddies dress up as their favorite Saints. Some homeschoolers get together & dress up the kids as their favorite historical figure. Snoopy is always a good choice too.

So many Catholics, getting into the spirit on All Hallow’s Eve, will dedicate extra time in the month of November in prayer for the dead. Although it is not a requirement, I often go to pray in cemetaries in November, just because it helps me focus on the death we are all coming to, and the attainment of heaven most of us seek.
Excellent review, Menagerie, thank you. Our church does “Trunk or Treat” for the kids in the church parking lot after mass on the Sunday before All Hallow’s Eve, but that’s about it. I pray every night for a traditional, conservative priest to come to our parish, and the current one to go back to Mexico where he prefers to be. No sign of any luck on that score any time soon, but prayers will continue.
In southern Louisiana there are many, many Catholics. All Saints’ Day is often a day off from work, always a day off from schoeol. People go to the cemeteries to have picnics & whitewash the above ground toumbs, pull the weeds, plant flowers, etc.
When my girls were growing up and we were in the Byzantine Church we would have a huge party, not a lot of candy, mostly baled goods, the children would go to different stages and single a much simpler version of Soul Cake.
It still makes me weep remembering those days of innocence.

Halloween costume? I didn’t grow up celebrating holidays and Mrs. N doesn’t understand many American holidays, so the plan is just the normal week night activities of an evening walk and negatively commenting on the clothing choices of other women, and their weight. Any small children that trip (without assistance) in a costume and faceplant on the sidewalk will be icing on the cake.
Ya needs ta create some draw that’ll bring ’em by your shop en masse so you can sit on the porch with a drink and let the show come to you. Maybe set up a candy point for the kids and a small wet bar for the adults.

Yes, I really like the warm colors in the Fall once the leaves are off the trees (that, Fall leaves, and oranges in summer are the only orange I like). I especially like the oranges with the cool blue, maybe because it reminds me of looking through the maple trees at the cool blue autumn sky 🙂

Probably someone who has looked at Greek pottery and seen the black and white persons portrayed thereupon.
Reminds me of one of the few honest pieces that 60 minutes did back in the early 90s. Seems the NYC school system was teaching black children that their African ancestors were all kings and queens and flew around the continent on flying carpets.

With the speed of the news this last week I hadn’t had a chance to watch Red November, The Frogleg Election Spectacular yet. I just did. God’s timing is perfect.

Halloween costume? I didn’t grow up celebrating holidays and Mrs. N doesn’t understand many American holidays, so the plan is just the normal week night activities of an evening walk and negatively commenting on the clothing choices of other women, and their weight. Any small children that trip (without assistance) in a costume and faceplant on the sidewalk will be icing on the cake.

Yes, I really like the warm colors in the Fall once the leaves are off the trees (that, Fall leaves, and oranges in summer are the only orange I like). I especially like the oranges with the cool blue, maybe because it reminds me of looking through the maple trees at the cool blue autumn sky 🙂

The MSM is really going after Torba and his family, digging up stuff that Andrew said while in Silicon Valley and misconstruing it and showing the home where his parents live.
Torba has a huge law suit on his hands. Several actually. Gab loyalists are currently documenting and saving all the call to violence posts on Facebook and Twitter.
Sheer madness is this gutless and relentless attempt to silence freedom of speech and to destroy a platform where patriots could chat amongst themselves.
I think someone talked to Torba about trying to get President Trump involved because, last I looked, he had stopped asking “Where are you President Trump?” . President Trump can do nothing until after the midterms without the MSM pillorying him as putting the gun in the anti-Semite’s hands. At the point where they discuss social media speech moderation, and whether the government should act (Tucker says that we should do whatever it takes because that much power in the hands of a few is a threat to our nation state), he said that:

Probably someone who has looked at Greek pottery and seen the black and white persons portrayed thereupon.
Reminds me of one of the few honest pieces that 60 minutes did back in the early 90s. Seems the NYC school system was teaching black children that their African ancestors were all kings and queens and flew around the continent on flying carpets.
The excuse ran something like they were just trying to give these downtrodden children a sense of self worth by giving them a backstory but the idea that lying to do so might not be the best way of doing that just didn’t sink in.

With the speed of the news this last week I hadn’t had a chance to watch Red November, The Frogleg Election Spectacular yet. I just did. God’s timing is perfect.

For a couple of years I have said next door, and on Facebook, that God calls up leaders in desperate times. It seems to me that we often are quite surprised at His choices. They have historically been absolutely what was needed for the times, but men rarely appreciated them during those times.

The Bible says David was a man ‘after God’s own heart. He would do what God wanted him to do.’
David did some very human things and regretted those things. He made plans to build a beautiful temple for God but God told him he could not build it. God said the reason that David could not build the temple was because he was a man of war.
God has given each of us gifts and through the Holy Spirit tells us how we can use those gifts. With no doubt in my heart I believe President Trump listens to the Holy Spirit very well.
