I assume it’s because Gab, [which] is popular with white supremacists, white nationalists, members of alt-right groups and others who have been kicked off of mainstream social media sites.

NOTE: To be clear (as pointed out to me by NC Nana), the above remark in italics was made by HEAVY.COM, and my reference to it is sarcastic.

      Hi Mom,

      Out of curiosity are you in the ‘Shaking My Head’ corner or the ‘Spider-Man Homecoming’ corner when saying SMH? or …?? – – Asking because I could think of a lot different applications for both meanings.

      I recently had a conversation about communicating with the different generations with my daughter and son-in-law. Fascinating subject.

      Then I heard Scott Adams talk about the #JobsNotMobs phrase and how you could tell it was a winning communication phrase for all generations. His comments on #JobsNotMobs starts at 8:45.

          After my conversation with our daughter and son-in-law about communication I was reading comments on a site where someone said:

          “You people really have good syntax.”

          I laughed my head off. I took it that he/she was saying you all are really old. – – Maybe not, but it was funny and sweet anyway.

    It seems like there use to be a legal type statement that you couldn’t discriminate against “political persuasion”. I am thinking it may have related to financial organizations.

    Does anybody remember anything like that?

    I don’t know anything about Gab (what they do or don’t do). From Stella’s description I take it they are political in nature. My question is really are there any user protections under the law from discrimination when you have set yourself up as a financial institution?

    Look some things I am pretty unaware of. I still have to use Sharyl Attkisson’s chart on which “news” organizations lean left or lean right. So I am looking for a little education here.

    Thanks for the info. I don’t do Twitter so I wouldn’t need a back up from Gab.

    I moved from Google Chrome to Firefox with Brave as my backup. Then I use DuckDuckGo as my search engine. I made the move because Google was making searches and connections more and more limited to their view of the world.

    I was amazed when I first started using DuckDuckGo that I could not only get articles from right leaning sites I could also get them from Christian sites. It possibly was years since I had the Christian point of views pop up. Another thing that was popping up all the time in my DDG queries was Conservative Tree House. They virtually never came up when I queried on Chrome.

    One of my original concerns was that during an election Chrome would cut me off from a full view of what was going on in the world.

    I don’t do facebook or any social media other than e-mail. We don’t do smart phones.

      Torba was warned, and in turn warned members months ago that this was going to happen. The goal is to shut Gab down. Doesn’t matter how much violence Twitter incites. Twitter”s founder and head and employees are Leftists and Twitter pushes a Leftist agenda and silences the truth, so Twitter has access to everything and anything that it wants.

      Gab’s founder is conservative, most of the employees are conservative with some moderates, Gab allows for all views, it silences very few people. That means conservatives have an unedited voice. Team Clinton/Obama cannot afford this freedom of communication so they are fighting to shut it down.

      Torba made a huge mistake in reaching out to the Feebies and offering to help in the case of Cesar. Let the Feds come to you. Andrew unfortunately dug a hole by offering to help. Lawfully he didn’t even have to delete Cesar’s account, optic wise I’m not sure that it was the right thing to do so.

      Let the Feds come. Andrew has enough of a loyal team that they could have scoured Twitter in 6 hours and found thousands of tweets more vile than anything Cesar posted. Right there is an impenetrable defense.

      It is long established social media form that threats and anti this group or that group are not actionable until they are deemed credible. It is not feasible for the social outlet to moderate every whack job. So Gab’s legal responsibility for Cesar’s actions is zero.

      Cesar alo had a Facebook account and a Twitter account so if the punishment is equally applied they should lose their domain and not be allowed to use Paypal anymore either.

      The fact that Cesar poster on Gab “The hell with optics I’m going in.” Could have meant many things, if I had been reading his gab posts I would have assumed he was going to do something as in making a public spectacle of himself.

      The law never demands, in fact it cannot allow or interpretation in the worst possible scenario as a reason to investigate someone.

      Always the test of the reasonable man must be applied. The fact that Cesar is supposed to be a nut case is an interesting piece to the puzzle.

      The law must be applied equally. Turbo has an immense war chest he is going to have to use some of it for an attorney who specifically spars with over reaching nanny state corporations, it will be well worth every penny that responds,

        Looks like the move down the slippery slope is picking up speed. Soon it will be supersonic.

        I have been generally aware of the censorship and suppression by the big tech companies. I could see it clearly several months ago (maybe a year) in my Google searches.

        I finally said I am going to have to stop what I am doing and look for an alternative to Google Chrome. This stark, cold knowledge came when I put in a direct quote out of one of Sundance’s posts and the Google search didn’t bring up CTH.

        Ditto on gmail. My husband’s gmail got slower and slower until the point that sometimes it would take hours before Google would put his email through.

        My husband switched over to email on Reagan.com last month. He pretty much has all the addressing etc. worked out so I hope to be switched within a month.

        I think of the internet and software as being a utility type resource. I actually don’t understand how big companies like Google are getting away with their snooping and censorship. I know I am just uneducated on the topic. I expect to learn quite a bit more before 2020.

    Turbo should sue the hell out of PayPal and all other companies that are clearly showing malicious bias in their policies.

    Facebook and Twitter must be shut down if the rules are applied equally. they must be demonetized. Same goes for Youtube. Those three platforms probably promote more violence in one week than than has been promoted on Gab over its 2 years of existence.

    It is “macht nichts” (makes no difference) to me. Turbo/Torba, Cesar/ Robert Bowers*, whatever the names, I got the gist of the situation on how GAB is being forced out of competition** with Twitter.

    I appreciate the introduction to the topic especially since I had never heard of GAB. I’ll be more alert as people bring GAB up for discussion.

    I still wonder why the Feds don’t go in and break up these big companies (like Twitter) the same as they did with AT&T or Ma Bell or whoever the phone companies were originally. I believe competition is healthy.

    As long as I’m on the subject; I also think the Feds need to tell the service providers to stay out of our business. If we need to telephone someone we just telephone them. No one is telling us that it is not a person we can talk to on the phone or that they don’t like the subject of our conversation (unless it is a specific law being broken). I think internet service providers should behave the same way.

    I listened to Senator Ron Johnson being interviewed by Maria. I would say what he had to say about Google was less than encouraging.
