A “bearded heavy-set white male” was in custody, KDKA said, adding that responding officers “received fire.”

The suspect is in custody, said Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, who was at the scene of the shooting according to local media. “We are providing local first responders with whatever help they need,” Wolf said on Twitter.

“The FBI profiler tells us…..”: Hmmm, white, conservative, Republican male with right wing leanings…does he have Trump stickers all over his vehicle?

Maybe it’s my paranoia due to PTSD/too much sugar/being brainwashed by Republican doctrinal programming but aren’t we seeing a whole lotta ‘right wing’ activity so close to a contentious election? I mean it’s all to reminiscent of a ‘direct action’ campaign that some government activities would use overseas to effect regime change. Guess it’s time to get those Melange and Soma scrips refilled…

Bowers was an active poster on an alternative version of Twitter, Gab, which is popular with white supremacists, white nationalists, members of alt-right groups and others who have been kicked off of mainstream social media sites.

      That’s us allright.

Scott Johnson has a lot of additional background on this story over at Power Line.

From the Scott Johnson, Power Line article:

“Watching the interview of the synagogue’s immediate past president on FOX News, I was disheartened to learn that the synagogue had no security for Shabbat services. At Temple of Aaron in St. Paul, which I take it draws a comparable or smaller crowd than Tree of Life at Shabbat services, we have had regular police presence for the past several years.”

We worship at a small church with a lot of retirees on fixed income so we don’t hire a “police presence”. After the Texas church shooting someone quietly walked around to see who had a concealed carry permits. The next week I saw a couple of people had permanently moved to new pews.

In today’s world people need be ever vigilant.

God bless all the souls, friends and family of Tree of Life synagogue. Please God heal and protect the Law Enforcement Officers who went to serve and protect your worshippers at Tree of Life. In Jesus name, amen.

Churches and synagogues need to be proactive in preparing for violence. Here is one resource to help them (I know the author…):
