Thanks for the rundown lovely, great job. I don’t know where we would be without you to run herd on us.
I know I haven’t been around much. Two and a half weeks ago one of my daughters in law got very ill, my son was out of town on a long trip, and then their nine year old got sick, so I was trying to help out and care for the sixteen month old.
Then my husband got sick, I got sick, I had various other family obligations, and the big party last night, a smashing success. I had a crap ton of monster eye cookies, ghostly nutterbutters, and all kinds of other goodies left though. Still have babysitting duties day and night through Monday.
Saw a position for a volunteer cook with the Cajun Navy on FB, and boy am I tempted to see if they still need someone, but my poor husband has been living on sandwiches for weeks. I sure would love to go help out though. And I could use a change of scenery.

Hope your crew is doing better, Menagerie. Also grateful that the storm didn’t cause you too many problems. Have a wonderful day!
Prayers for you and yours Menagerie ❤️!
Really good post, lovely. Life has seemed so much busier lately. Mine will slow down in a few weeks and I’ll be able to check in more frequently. I keep our friends with health concerns in my prayers. Praying we all can be together here again soon.

Thats a lot of busy ness for all of us. And its just what we know about! Maybe the lurkers can find the gumption to give us a few posts. Ty Lovely.
Thank you lovely, I sooo appreciate the quick recap. :0).
I missed MaryfromMarin, (back to school) Wee ( 🙄 fifty lashes for me) busy patrolling, Tessa (?) BigMamaTea (breezes in now and then 🙂 , facebwallflower, kinththenorthwest, PatternPuzzler (in and out visiting) .
Sorry if I’m missing any regulars, if I am it is entirely Nyet’s fault as I pulled names from his breakfast club – any negative mail should sent directly to him 😎!
Thanks for the mention, lovely! I’m using my second viewing hour on the computer to pop over here to say “HEY” to everyone. Missed my time with you and all the other Stellars. I must say that I’ve gotten a lot of things done around my place that definitely needed doing…sorting more old files; going through clothes and readying some for giveaway; listening to my CD collection which is a great source of calm for me.
The first viewing hour this morning I spent reading some very good articles at CTH but FORGET READING THE COMMENTS…they were making me real mad with their negativity and attitudes about President Trump supposedly not doing enough to get the miscreants into jail, not firing various people, etc. blah, blah. I was afraid I’d say something I’d regret. So now I’m listening to more music!
Take care. I’m going to be listening to the President’s rally shortly. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
I too would like to saw a few limbs off the tree next door.
And Rhea is a working woman busy with a new job! Sorry Rhea! I know you’re a regular here also!
And Smiley would post more if her posts didn’t always go into spam. And Stella would stop Smiley’s posts from going into spam if she could!

Morning Stella! Haven’t heard how Tucker is doing in a while. How is that boy?
He’s about the same. Still a bit of a fraidy cat, and can’t be let out without a lead, which is a terrible shame. I talked with the vet about it, and she offered some suggestions, but so far no luck. I have a 26′ retractable lead, so he can really get moving, if he wants to (and he does).
No dog park where he can be off-leash and really tear around? About once a day I have to take the beagle mix out with the ATV and let her tear around for about a quarter-mile at 15 MPH to take her edge off.
Off-leash is the problem. I have a fenced yard where he could run. He has developed a thing where he won’t come in. One time he stayed outside overnight. He comes to the door and begs to come in, then when I open the door, he runs. It’s not just a keep-away game either; it’s as if he’s afraid of something.
ADD: Leaving him out is no solution, because he barks and annoys my neighbors.
I can’t catch him by myself because he’s too fast. The last time I threw a rope hammock over him.
We have a cat that acts the same way.
He’ll come to the back door and beg – we thought to come in, but he actually wants us to come out.
The beagle acts like that too and I’ll bet Tucker wants you to come out to play and stay. Difference is that the beagle is a total pack dog, doesn’t want us to be separated for a minute, and will come in if we don’t go out. She wants to be out but only if she’s with the pack.
I don’t think that’s it. My vet suggests keeping him on a lead, but going outside and calling him to me, reward him with a high value treat, then change the lead to a different one and call him into the house.
He comes into the house just fine IF he is on a lead.
He’s gotta learn who’s boss when there’s no physical leash…though I should talk as if two of ours get out at a time the only ones they listen to is each other. They’re looking for a muddy ditch. All I gotta do to, though, to get the beagle back is start up the ATV.
Stella, old sled dog trick: put a long line on him. Get a 15-20 foot length of plastic rope, about 1/2″ diameter, and put a snap on one end and tie a loop in the other end. Then let him run around dragging it. Much easier to catch him. When he streaks past, step on the long line. Or wait till he gets it caught on something.
Good suggestion. I thought of that, but haven’t tried it yet.
I have a tie-out line that is metal, covered with plastic. That would work.
Thank you, and well said. Love to all ya’ll! Just getting around to posting for yeaterday, cause it was busy with work, air show, dinner & a full dvd of Treme catch-ups.
Well he’s still pretty young, maybe with time, it will get better.
Or, like Old Daisy, slower…
Stella, if you haven’t already, you might check out ADAPTIL My neighbor just got a 12 week old Shiba Inu and swears by the calming effects of the collar.
Thanks Lucille. I’ll take a look!
“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh”, said Piglet at last, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?”
“What’s for breakfast?”, said Piglet.”What do you say, Piglet?”
I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.
Little did Piglet realize the irony of that small exchange.
Mornin’ Z’s! 😀
Like 55 degrees last nite but we’re told not to worry, we’ll be back to 90 by Sunday.
Our high for today is 52.
Yeah, but you’re a lot closer to the North Pole than we be.
40 degrees and raining here. Ugghh. My least favorite weather.
That was our weather from last night Tundra…I feel your pain….This afternoon it’s a balmy 33 degrees and the sky is overcast & threatening us with spits of snow. Lordy, I am dreading the length of the winter this year. :0)
Afternoon Sand…I hope you are snuggling the day lights out of those grand babies….:0)
I did, thank you. They are so much fun and my grandson adores his new baby sister. It makes my heart swell to see how gentle he is with her.
We’ve yet to have our first snow. Coming any time now. The earliest snow I remember was on Sept. 6th. But that was back during “Global Cooling” in 2002. Snort
It’s like that here too.
Brrrr…I’m thinking slippers, a warm cup of cocoa and a book might be in my immediate future. I need an excuse for some down time and the cold weather might be tailor-made. :0)
44’s our magic number as those freeze hours the fruit trees need start at 44.
Now that jes ain’t kosher…
ah shoot…it’s an image of Pooh the next day eating his bacon cheeseburger…
That’ll teach Christopher Robin to ask Piglet what’s eating him…
Happens to my pix posts all the time…
Evening Wee 🙂 !
Oy, now I’m feeling bad about the ham sandwich I had for lunch today! LOL! Have a great evening, WeeWeed!
We got our first storm in over 6 months last night. I had just finished reading kiddo a story when the 1st thunder boom hit. It was huge! Then lightening all night, thunder, and a good rain. Havent had a storm of that caliber in so long it kept me awake. Im hoping we get more of a winter this year.
L.A. had to use press releases to warn people about lightning and to stay inside. Oh brother. 😕

Yeah, a sign of a declining society – we now try to save those on the far end of the ‘stupid’ bell curve.
Morning Gil. Hope you can rest today.
Its a relaxing day today. Going out to dinner tonight for anniversary. No school today either just coloring and chores. Still threatening rain. So nice for real weather!
Happy anniversary! Have a great time. 😊
Ty. Out and back…kiddo having a later night but its saturday. Maybe mommy can sleep in. 😉
A few years ago there was a tv news feature showing some 4-5year olds who lived in LA. There had not been rain in about 5 years, and it was going to be raining, so the reporter asked the kids what rain looked like. Kids had vey imaginative things to say.
Going to NOLA today, the Lakefront Airport’s hosting a display of flying WWII aircraft. They also have a fully restored PT boat you can tour for a small fee or actually ride on for a huge fee.
I’m going to see the last flying, antique, relics of as long gone era. Of course the fact that I actually flew on some of these dusty curios from the past while they were still in service makes me feel like I’ll actually be testing out retirement homes…but them that happens to all of us eventually.
Seen on Facebook:
Uggg McSally rally here in AZ with Romney. I still don’t know why Trump’s rally for her and Ducey was cancelled here – did they not want him? Are they cozying up to Romney instead?
That’s really discouraging.
I want to see Romney challenge President Trump in the primary.
I want to watch President Trump trounce him. Soundly.
Then after President Trump is re-elected I want to see President Trump consider Romney for cabinet position.
Then I want to see Romney kicked to the curb. Again.
“It’s déjà vu all over again.” Yogi Berra
Never, ever, fails to make me smile!
Got a group Facebook message invitation yesterday for “Tacos and move” night, which my wife responded to with, “Yes, we’ll be there.”
I misread it and went expecting tacos and a movie.
Found out there was no movie, and helped move all the wedding gifts from the kids garage up to their third floor apartment. In the rain. No elevator. No tacos.
But with eight of us guys and three women, it only took 18 minutes. And the fast food bowls of chicken, beans, rice, and greens were tasty, along with the tortilla chips and salsa, so all in all it wasn’t a bad night.
Meanwhile, 13 more wedding gifts have been delivered by UPS and FedEx to my house. A lot of people love those kids. 🙂
Tacos and move could be a bad pepto joke too. Lol. At least you had a big group to help.
Sounds like your kids are off to a terrific start!
At 23 he’s accomplished more than I had at twice his age. I’m not a proud Dad, I’m an awestruck Dad.
This is excellent.
How Living Two Years Under Socialism Made Me a Capitalist
In 1985 my family moved to Israel for two years, playing our part in reclaiming a heretofore unclaimed portion of our Biblical patrimony. So, with 35 other young families, we co-founded the new community of Neve Aliza in Ginot Shomron (“Samaria Gardens”) in the heart of Samaria, the northern half of what is falsely misnomered as the “West Bank.” Neve Aliza since has grown by 600%, with Ginot Shomron likewise now comprising part of greater metropolitan Karnei Shomron. Karnei Shomron now has a population of some 8,000 people, approximately the population of Malibu or Sedona, Arizona. Israel-haters call it a “West Bank settlement.”
In those years, Israel was governed primarily under socialist economic principles. Always a democracy, Israel’s governing institutions nevertheless were founded by deeply non-religious and even anti-religious secular socialists who had fled Tsarist Russia in the late 1800s. For half a century, until the Menachem Begin earthquake election of 1977, Israel was governed by coalitions led by the leftist Labor Party. They had built the socialist kibbutzim (agricultural socialist collectives) that the liberal media idealized. These were the darlings of the leftist-liberal media during Israel’s nascent years, names like Ben-Gurion, Rabin, Dayan, Golda Meir. Leftist socialists all…
Yeah, everyone loves socialism because it sounds so nice…in theory. They have to live it out to learn what it’s like in practice.
Me, I’m one of those people who studies history and thinks “if every other country that tried it couldn’t make it work, then clearly it doesn’t work.” But I understand the definition of insanity, so…
(Yeah, I didn’t get a lot of indoctrination at my college, but I purposely avoided some classes to ensure that.)
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Prayer for Justice Kavanaugh:
“After watching her husband rip into pro-death senators who used Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in attempts to derail the appointment of her husband to the U.S. Supreme Court, Ashley is asking all people of faith to unite in praying Psalm 40, which reads:”
“BE PLEASED, O LORD, TO DELIVER ME, LOOK DOWN, O LORD TO HELP ME. LET THEM BE CONFOUNDED AND ASHAMED TOGETHER, THAT SEEK AFTER MY SOUL TO TAKE IT AWAY. LET THEM BE TURNED BACKWARD AND BE ASHAMED THAT DESIRE EVILS TO ME.”
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
I haven’t been commenting much this week. Often, when I have something to deal with, I just draw back into my shell and hide. I had found out about Foxy’s cancer in her ear before I went on the cruise. I thank all of you who told me you would not put your pet through treatment again. I was tempted and that helped me fight it off. It was a good thing, because when I came back, I found out that she has a second type of cancer in her gums. So far she looks just like she always has and has a lot of energy. She did quit eating like normal the last couple of days, so we are working on that. Today she has eaten almost a can of food. So, I will just keep her as happy as I can for as long as I can.
Also, before I went on the cruise, I got an email from my BIL in Canada. He said he had put my sister in the hospital because she couldn’t get out of bed. She had mentioned to me that her back hurt and she was staying in bed a lot, but really didn’t elaborate and I had no idea how bad off she really was. She had refused to see a doctor for years, but he finally called an ambulance anyway. He said she was bad off, had a crushed disc (or something like that), had osteoporosis, and was malnourished. She had refused to eat anything for the last couple of years except meat and potatoes, and sometimes a little corn. At this point, I will say I come from very stubborn people………on both sides of our family. He emailed again that they were doing some tests and today he got the results. She has cancer, Myeloma, Plasmocytoma. It is terminal and she only has about 2 weeks. She has opted for no treatment, just palliative care. Please pray for her soul.
I’m sorry, aus. That’s a lot to have to deal with all at one.
Yeah, I’ve been kinda holding my breath for the last two weeks.
It has been a heavy week for you and your family. I will pray for all of you.
Thank you. It was even more distressing that he couldn’t get her in a hospice because there are no beds available ( good old Canadian health care). So he is going to take her home until something is available. His family is all gone except for his mother who is 94 and in a home. My sister is five years younger than I am.
They don’t have in-home hospice? That is what we did with my mom.
His email was only a few lines, so he didn’t elaborate. I don’t know what they have available.
Well, I will pray that she gets good care, no matter the source.
So sorry, auscitizenmom. I’ll be praying for your sister and that your sweet pup stays happy and energetic for a long time.
Im very sorry for your family strife. When it rains it pours right? The ability to say goodbye is a blessing no matter the pain along the way. But I still wish you well on the journey and we are still here ehen you need us. 🌻🌻🌻🌻
The cancer in my puppy was a shock and so was my sister’s cancer. I just had no idea.
I am so sorry for you to have two loved ones with teminal illnesses at the same time. Please know that pallative care is a blessing, because of done right the pain is manageable or gone so the person can focus on what’s important with family & friends. And Foxy will appreciate all the loving you give.
Of course aus. I am so very sorry. I’ll be praying for you and your sister and family. I wish that I could ease some of your hurt.
I was looking up Chris Ray Gun’s “Ain’t No rest for the Triggered” last night and I saw he has Social Justice the Musical part 5 up.
I was loathe to listen to it, because it was titled “Punch a Nazi” and because this spring I finished my WWII writing project and I did way too much research and spent way too much time on it (but I loved every minute of it!) so if you call someone a Nazi without corroborating evidence, like showing me their membership listing in the Nazi Party annals, I’m liable to lose my temper.
But Chris hit the nail on the head again, I must say (language warning in his notes at the end):
In the rap section in the middle is the moment where parody, again, proves the truth.
“I may be Hitler, but I’m still not Trump!”
These unhinged Leftists who we had to endure watching assault people on the streets after the election while the police sat on their hands – “Bring it like brownshirts, 1934!” – don’t mind the fact they have devolved into Nazis (and yes, I do believe that that is what these people have become. I think Chris made the case pretty convincingly. Calling someone a Nazi because you disagree with them politically will make me mad, calling someone a Nazi because they persist in behaving like one is a different matter) but at least they’re not Trump supporters!
Hello. Here’s a talent. A song by John Newton via Victor Wooten (electric bassist), performed by my wife — my wife in a really good dream I had once (I swear!) — and then some big band awesomeness with her playing the role of Jaco Pastorius.
Sorry to have been away for so long. Just really depressed lately. Still think about and pray for you all.
(That won’t ever stop.)
Imagine having a professor, in school, for 25 years. Bobby is mine… …and he doesn’t even know it. I don’t mind. Love to shine his shoes, though. I didn’t even have to pay a university or college tuition for this 25-year education, by this one man. It was free.
It’s hard to believe. But Bobby is my sensei.
