WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees the special counsel investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 presidential election, has verbally resigned in anticipation of being fired by President Donald Trump, Axios news site reported.
Rosenstein, the No. 2 Justice Department official, verbally resigned to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, the report said, citing an unidentified source with knowledge of the matter.
A second source told Axios that Rosenstein is “expecting to be fired” so he plans to step down.
There was widespread speculation that Trump would fire Rosenstein after a New York Times report on Friday said in 2017 he had suggested secretly recording Trump and recruiting Cabinet members to invoke a constitutional amendment to remove him from the office.
The Times said none of those proposals came to fruition. Rosenstein denied the report as “inaccurate and factually incorrect.”
MSBNC and CNN reported Rosenstein was summoned for a meeting at the White House on Monday.

Man o man. What a time to be alive, this is like a Tom Clancy novel (when Clancy actually wrote them).
This is inscrutable stuff. People don’t resign verbally from a position like this in government. They simply don’t. In anticipation of being fired for something that he categorically denies doing?
In anticipation of… the second highest person in the DOJ resigns.
Verbally?
Hmmm… Nothing in writing.
Did Kelly record the resignation?
Curious, curious, curious.

A little curiouser, did Rosenstein resign last week and he is formalizing it today?
What is the guess?

Ask the Democrat/Progressive coup plotters/participants.at the FBI/DOJ. They are writing the script and acting out their own drama. Would that they just leave us alone.

No need to ask that which President Trump already knows.
I said a long time ago that I was joining Thomas Wictor with delegating politics to President Trump. If we can figure so many things out with our very limited knowledge and access to all things DC just imagine what President Trump knows. Imagine the moves going on behind the scene.
President Trump is in the driving seat and the Leftists still have not realized it. Beautiful.

Here we go. A lot of pomp without knowing the circumstances.
It was a scheduled meeting with Sessions in which Rosenstein stood in his place.
Adam Schiff is tipping the hand of the DC elites pleading with Rosenstein not to resign but to force President Trump’s hand. This is a salvage what you can moment from Schiff and his Anti-American crew.
I personally do not believe that the democrats are strong enough to pull off this kind of deception, to what end? The story took the assault on Brett Kavanaugh off of the front pages and out of the opening monologues of every MSM outlet.
The Left would not do this.
This is the time that the Left has dedicated to destroying Kavanaugh – not monkeying around with Rosenstein drama.
President Trump is meeting with Rosenstein on Thursday, what else is happening on Thursday?
If patriots are not behind this I’ll eat my hat.
This is all about the energy behind the seat of the Presidency.
The sky is going to rain anvils. The DC elites know it is going to happen even though they are dutifully certain that their umbrellas will deflect the anvils. The DC elites are stuck in pre-Trump thinking. Good.
If that f*cking b*stard wins we all hang from nooses.” ___Hillary Clinton

Rosenstein started the rumor. He told people he was headed to the White House and was expecting to get fired.
Rosenstein knew that it was a pre-arranged meeting that had nothing to do with his employment.
Rosenstein just did a tremendous favor for President Trump and our Republic.

Rosie resigns and gets to save face where he can’t save his ass.
I like that he didn’t deny the allegations, just tried to make ’em sound like a joke. Hmmmmm, a top-level legal eagle and he doesn’t have the brains to realize in his position that stupid comments have butt-biting teeth? Let’s say a DoJ employee during the Obama reign
had ‘joked’ about illegally eavesdropping on Obama to get some statements that could be twisted into something that could be used to remove him from office?????
Let’s carry it to our levels – what do you think Federal prosecutors would do were you/I to make a joke about sneaking a gun onto a plane to hijack it? We and he are presumed to have enough common sense to not blurt out what we obviously know are damaging and inappropriate remarks in a professional setting? You can even say it’s one thing to joke about illegally recording away from the office at a cocktail party and quite another to do it on government property in a professional setting – which is just what they should tell him as they escort him to the exit.
