September 14, 1963: Mary Ann Fischer gives birth to America’s 1st surviving quintuplets. The four girls and one boy; Mary Ann, Mary Catherine, Mary Magdalene, Mary Margaret and James Andrew were born in the little town of Aberdeen in South Dakota. The Fischer family had, besides the quintuplets, six more children. Five of them were born before the quintuplets, and one was born a year after the quintuplets.

Around my place it’s heading for a high of 71 with all next week being in the 60s. The change from summer to fall is very abrupt here. It was so hot in August I barely left the house even to sit on the porch. It looks to be a nice day, though, with the sun shining, but a cool breeze. It’ll save on the electricity bill as it’s not cold enough for heat or hot enough for air conditioning. Yippee!

We’ve been having a beautiful Indian summer here in southcentral Alaska for the past 10 days or so. Bright sun, blue skies, light breezes and gorgeous mountains all around that show no new snow yet on their always-white glaciated peaks. But it feels very much like fall. Birch trees are turning yellow and ground vines are bright red. Daytime highs are in the high 60s most days, but nighttime lows are right around freezing–though no hard frosts yet. Sunrise and sunset are getting noticeably closer together and in another week we will have truly equal days and nights. From here it will be a short, steep slide into winter. But in the meantime I will revel in fall, which is my favorite season. Especially here, where it is relatively short. I love it when the birches hit their full, bright yellow. Wish I could post photos for y’all.
Happy Friday, everyone!

I don’t think I posted this here yesterday, know I did next door.
About 4 months ago I sent an email to my Fed rep and Senator asking them to query Homeland Security about the number of incidents reported regarding Mexican military and police encountered inside of sovereign American territory along our southern border by US Border Patrol/LEA personnel AND how many times Mexican military/police have fired upon US Border patrol/LEA personnel.
Well today I called my Rep’s office and was told that the request was in DC and they’d had to send it over to the Congressional Research Service where it’s sitting. Let’s see how many more months it will be – I’ll call my Senator’s office tomorrow but as Cochran resigned I’m not so sure his replacement’s up to speed yet so my request may be in limbo.
Anyway, I was doing some digging around today and I found an article by an investigator who had exactly what I needed. It not only has the numbers but someone seems to have given him access to the very report I’m trying to get released. As the report was classified by DHS I was hesitant to even mention it but now that it’s existence out there I can reference this article – sources and methods.
So if you want to look at the somewhat scary picture: http://www.juddslivka.com/project/investigation-crossed-lines/

That’s gory – vigilante justice. A couple of years ago a body in many pieces was found in plastic bags in the alley on the other side of the street and down the block a bit from my daughter’s house. That’s a really nice neighborhood, but close to the west side of Chicago. My guess is a drug killing.

At my USDA office out head of commo was busted for downloading kiddie porno – after being warned a number of times by senior staff not to use government equipment and government time to do so. Luckily someone disgusted with the entire debacle called the FBI and turned him in. One day agents just walked in, put him in cuffs and confiscated everything in his office. He got a long time in a jail where he’ll be getting a real education.

Alleged high school hijinks by Brett Kavanaugh and a classmate. Both deny it.
An Unnamed #MeToo Accuser Says Brett Kavanaugh Tried To Force Himself Onto Her
An unnamed woman has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of attempting to force himself onto her during an non-consensual encounter at a party, one day after Democratic lawmakers released a cryptic statement referring to possible misconduct in the judge’s past.
The allegation, which appeared Friday morning in The New Yorker, relates an incident that occurred in the early 1980s when Kavanaugh was a high school student at Georgetown Preparatory School in Maryland. All involved in the alleged encounter were minors at the time.
According to the report, the woman alleges that Kavanaugh and a male classmate accosted her at a party. She claims Kavanaugh held her down and attempted to force himself onto her while his confidant turned up music which was playing in the room to drown out her protestations.
“I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation,” Kavanaugh told said in a statement released by the White House. “I did not do this back in high school or at any time.” The other male involved in the alleged incident separately denied the charge.
Moments after The New Yorker report was released, a spokesperson for Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley released a letter from 65 women attesting to his good character.
“Through the more than 35 years we have known him, Brett has stood out for his friendship, character, and integrity,” the letter reads. “In particular, he has always treated women with decency and respect. That was true when he was in high school, and it has remained true to this day.”

Sixty-Five Women Knew Brett Kavanaugh During his HS Years Write Their Own Letter About His Character
https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2018/09/14/dozens-of-women-who-went-to-high-school-with-kavanaugh-back-his-character-n2519010
“We are women who have known Brett Kavanaugh for more than 35 years and knew him while he attended high school between 1979 and 1983. For the entire time we have known Brett Kavanaugh, he has behaved honorably and treated women with respect. We strongly believe it is important to convey this information to the Committee at this time,” the letter states. “Brett attended Georgetown Prep, an all-boys high school in Rockville, Maryland. He was an outstanding student and athlete with a wide circle of friends. Almost all of us attended all girls high schools in the area. We knew Brett well through social events, sports, church, and various other activities. Many of us have remained close friends with him and his family over the years.”
“Through the more than 35 years we have known him, Brett has stood out for his friendship, character, and integrity. In particular, he has always treated women with decency and respect. That was true when he was in high school, and it has remained true to this day,” the letter continues. “The signers of this letter hold a broad range of political views. Many of us are not lawyers, but we know Brett Kavanaugh as a person. And he has always been a good person.”

Chilling creepy gamer story aside. (Just saying I’m not believing it 100%).
Glenn made a critical mistake. Glenn never ever should have left his “sleeping” children in bed, never. He should have silently woke them and brought them to a safe place with their mother. Please folks never ever prowl the house with dogs and a gun without knowing exactly where your loved ones are located. This could have ended very badly.
All that said I believe we are not hearing the full truth here. Something doesn’t add up about the phone scenario.
Some odd aspects about this whole story;
Glenn is not dumb, he did not have to say repeatedly “I feel my family and I are in danger I have dogs and a gun and I will shoot to kill.”
At one point in this scenario Glenn knew where his children were located. Then he did not. That if the story has any truth to it is a worst case scenario.
If you have trained guard dogs with a kill command in a house with 3 loved ones and you give them the kill command your elevator ain’t going to the top floor.
If you have a choice between full control of your gun and partial control of your gun and you choose to hold a leash with two dogs attached to it you have been very improperly trained. Most people could not hit the broad side of a barn in a high stress situation while holding a gun with one hand. Especially a pasty unfit bloke like Glenn. No mean intent here just the facts.
There is a reason for the Weaver stance.
Use it. Keep both hands on the gun. Know where your loved ones are located without a single solitary doubt.
And what very frightening things have Glenn’s kids witnessed ? Not all, but a lot of that was in Glenn’s control.

Several parts bothered me too, although I posted this on Facebook because I think my daughter in law lets her son have too much computer time and does nothing to supervise his gaming time.
Things that bothered me were inaction at first. He and his wife “talked it over.” For some time. It was a long time before he took action. If someone was in his house with ill intent bad things would have happened in the what, nearly an hour he took to go downstairs?
My husband would have probably chosen the shotgun first, maybe pistol as backup, and he would have gone to check it out ASAP, while I was calling the police on my cell, which was never mentioned, like it was never thought of, until after the whole thing was over.
Either get the whole family in a safe and defensible place and wait for the cops, or have them all together while someone good with firearms goes to check, again, after calling cops (assuming there is time, of course).
I think something probably happened and it was likely that he told basic truths but the man has too much inclination for drama and elaboration, I suspect.

I agree. Who (even in GlennBeck’s world) would leave sleeping children alone and asleep in their rooms when they have any notion that something not right may be happening?
Was the son fake sleeping when his dad checked on him? How dod the son get to a different part of the home without alerting his dad?
If the dogs had been given the kill command why didn’t they attack the son? It just doesn’t add up.
What was all the hemming and hawing about during what Glenn and his wife thought was a possible home invasion?
Even the casual “Hmmm… we don’t know anyone from that state” Really? 1:30 AM and you can recall whether you know a person from a particular state or was it a country (?) . Beck knows people from all over.
I think it is likely that they saw the phone being used in the middle of the night and caught their boy talking to the 30 something year old gamer. Beginning and end of story. Creepy and scary enough on it’s own.
And why oh why would Glenn’s son know the age of the man on the other end of the phone? If man is a pervert why would he advertise has age as 30 something?
Just a whole lotta 🤔in this story.

I will say this about boys. Two of our three were pretty adventurous and daredevil. Our oldest son would try anything and never, ever listened to our cautions.
We raised them with very firm, very consistent discipline, they respected us, and knew that we were reasonable, and they saw their dad especially as a man who was realistic, practical, honest, and never overprotective.
In my mind that means that they should have reasoned their way into seeing that what we said was never exaggerated and truly would keep them safe.
Nope. Boys, at least two of my three, and the other one part time, do not operate that way.
And I know that abusers are really great at playing to kids, reading their emotions and what they need, and being that. Kids want to believe what they want to believe, and very often they absolutely know the dangers and do something anyhow.
LikeLiked by 3 people
I agree with everything you said Menagerie. Boys will be boys.
What I take exception to is Glenn’s shuddering announcement that his kids have witnessed “frightening things.”
Glenn said it in my mind as if they were extra ordinary frightening things exclusive to his children because they are the children of GlennBeck. It didn’t come across as his kids have done some daredevil-ish things in their lives and experienced some real scares.
I hope that makes sense. I know I’m not being very clear in the words I’m using in trying to express what I found odd about this particular part of Glenn’s story.

No, you were clear, and I agree. I just think the part about the boy doing it anyhow made sense. I can see any one of my three doing that. And we did everything in our power to give them some common sense.
For awhile there I used to say we had spent thousands and thousands of dollars on their education, and they were stupid anyhow. 😀

Sometimes when my kids were growing up, and even still today, I wonder if children from happy, secure, stable homes are not in some ways at a disadvantage for those who would do evil to them.
Two examples of what I mean. Because my father was such an abusive and terrible alcoholic, I knew that I would never become one, much as I love Jack. Indeed, with the exception of formerly smoking, I have avoided addictions.
When I was in high school it was the height of the seventies drug scene. Everyone did everything. I tried only pot, and that much later than everyone else. When they said all those drugs were dangerous and addictive I believed them.
Years later I once tried one more drug, one time. I liked it so much it terrified me and I never went near it again, and I purged all thoughts of it.
My husband and I both were afraid the boys might become the “skips a generation” alcoholics, but praise God, they didn’t, even though they never saw the horror of it.
The second example involves someone who tried to groom me, then threatened me and my family. He was a pedophile and I was at his age preference. Because of my rotten home life, I saw right through him. His promises were absurd, and his threats were illusions.
I’ve always thought that had I been a safer and happier child I might have been further abused by him.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

Kiddo has survived almost a week n half. He started last wednesday and was sick on friday. Fever and throwing up middle of the night. Out on mon and Tuesday, still sick but medicated. Still having issues with not eating and its affecting behavior on top of being sick. Mommy is stressed but his teacher said he was good today and he is making friends so a little progress. Im a little sad with the change too. I guess its normal. I think I need to do something for myself. Maybe yoga? 😣🙄

Most of the people I meet have support systems and people who can give mom a break but I dont. My husband is the playmate and sometimes will watch him. Grandparents are visit only type of people. I know Im responsible for most of his life and Im ok with it. Just got a bit of mommy blues. Ill get over it. ☺

That’s a shame Gil. Grandparents are missing out on some wonderful times. Now is the best time of my life, and part of the reason for that is the eight little people I love so much. They teach me things and make me laugh every day.

I understand 100% Gil. until my girls were 4, 11 and 13 we hand no family support because we lived many states away. When we moved closer no one in my family offered to come and babysit or help out with the girls even after my husband died so I understand how important a support group os, particularly family, and not having it.
It is hard especially when you’re a hands on mom and doing everything that you can to make your little guys childhood beautiful and fun.
My husband worked a lot and int to school for part of their childhood there were times he would come home and I would just walk out the door for some “sanity” time.
As a mom who has been through it the best advice I have is you have to find a way so you do not have to be on 100% of the time all of the time. Find little ways to know that even 10 minutes is your time.
We had a rule, if a child asked me a question while I was on the phone the answer was an automatic no, period. I have lots of out of town friends and talking to them with 40 interruptions became stressful rather than fun, so I had certain phone toys, arts and crafts, and little things they could only use while I was on the phone. It worked for us I could have an actually conversation without 40 interruptions and they knew the rules and had something to preoccupy themselves.
(((Gil))) hang in there, it gets easier as they get older.

You should do something for yourself, and it will benefit him too. He’s a boy, and within a few years he will begin to seperate himself from you, a little more each day, and that’s healthy, and it’s how he will grow and be strong.
He will sense if he is your whole life, and he might be reluctant to be more independent. Your healthy choices for you are good for him and good for your family. And they will cut down on mommy blues too.
Hope he feels better soon.
