BOATLIFT, An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience

Speaking of boatlifts…the Cajun Navy is deploying to the Carolinas in advance of Florence hitting shore. They’ll stay outside of the impact area until the winds pass and then move in to start rescues. Just about all of the expense money comes out of their own pockets and donations. They start from the premise that somebody’s gotta do the job and if they wait for someone to fund it a lot of folks will be treading water.
So far it’s about six who are heading out, more like an advance party, but more ewill deploy as time goes on.

Yup. A good size S’port contingent headed out yesterday.

They’ll be there not only before Federal help arrives but even most of the state help.
When Issac hit here a few back the area was flooded and lots of people were cut off or stranded in flooded property.State couldn’t do much, county was pressed – squashed actually – and it was locals with their fishing boats who did the rescuing.

SFD took off yesterday with some of their water rescue craft, too – and I know some Texans are on the way. They’re all over the CN site volunteering to help.

And yet most citizens still believe their various levels of government are out there, constantly on the ready to pull them from the jaws of disaster. Pffffft.

I have no illusions. My city wouldn’t even own up to mistakes when our basements all of a sudden started to flood during rain storms.

NOLA’s STILL making excuses for a broken Sewerage & Water Board that hasn’t been able to keep the city dry, hasn’t been able to get customer billing correct for years, loses about 50% of the water it creates daily and refuses to be accountable to the city commission that regulates it.
The new council and mayor are ‘going to get right on that’ but we’re not holing our breath. Meanwhile folks with water bills of over $5000 a month due to (they admit) the city buying a faulty billing program and ill-trained employees using it incorrectly are being given…PAYMENT PLANS! Yes, the city admits that two little old people living in a 1100-square-foot house are very likely not using $5000 or more water a month but to keep from getting their water turned off and until the city can work thru the hundreds, if not thousands, of bad bills they victims will have to work out a payment plan. When asked what will happen if, if the bills ever are corrected, the victims overpay the Board is…looking into that.
I haven’t had any illusions for years.

Remember the eraser for carbon copy? And the little pieces of paper you held on the paper & typed the mistake letter over so it would be covered up with white? Typewriter ribbons which made your fingers black when you had to mess with them? Untangling the typebars. My parents had an Underwood portable typewriter. My sister & I typed all our high school & college papers on it. The IBM Selectric was the mot amazing thing EVER!

I learned on a manual, too. That was the only D I got on a report card. It was a six weeks report card. I practiced every day after that and passed with an A. I was thrilled when I finally got an electric typewriter. I don’t remember when that was.

Massive stockpile of bottled water found in Puerto Rico a year after Maria
https://nypost.com/2018/09/12/massive-stockpile-of-bottled-water-found-in-puerto-rico-a-year-after-maria/
Hundreds of thousands of water bottles meant for victims of Hurricane Maria are still sitting at a Puerto Rico airport — nearly a year after the deadly storm, according to a report.
A photo showing the bottles in boxes and covered in a blue tarp on a runway in Ceiba was shared widely on social media Tuesday evening.
“Although you don’t believe it… almost a million boxes of water that were never delivered to the villages,” posted Abdiel Santana, a photographer working for a Puerto Rican state police agency who took the pictures. “Is there anyone who can explain this?”
FEMA acknowledged to CBS News on Wednesday that the bottles were brought inland in 2017 in the wake of the hurricane and that they were turned over to “central government.”

Of course, FEMA will be blamed because President Trump was in office at the time. The fact that the Puerto Rican government is inept, corrupt, entitled, and uncaring doesn’t matter. All around simply disturbing and disgusting.

On Rush’s show today he went on extensively about this and how the Left is already blaming President Trump for Hurricane Florence before it even hits.

Obama’s slimy little Deep State environmental cabal is at it again
By Monica Showalter – September 12, 2018
Under President Obama, the Environmental Protection Agency grew to gargantuan proportions, issuing 4,000 regulations, adding more than 33,000 pages to the Federal Register, and dumping $50 billion in compliance costs on business, making itself one of the biggest and most powerful agencies in the U.S. government – quite a feat for an organization without a Cabinet seat.

Stella, every time I see the Lascaux paintings I think about raw artistic talent. There have been many millions of artists given excellent training and the best supplies money can buy. Most of them will never have the ability these cave painters had with iron oxide and other minerals some 17,000 years ago, if memory serves.
The paintings are in grave danger of being lost to mold. I hope they can hold that off. It’s a fine thought that a human who lived so long ago impacted my thoughts and emotions even though I can never see their actual work.
Art is perhaps a peek into the soul. Few things last so long do they? Often we humans have so few things in common, but most of us can deeply appreciate the art of people from long ago and far away, as well as our own.
I love my books, but even they cannot speak as art does.

Well, one day one of the admins got upset about something and pulled the plug. She deleted our blog and our admin blog without any warning. That’s how we ended up starting CTH. lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

I was thinking;
If only 11 million people have Obama-Care, how will 24 million people die if it is repealed? Will an additional 13 million people be randomly shot?
I was thinking;
If Donald Trump deleted all of his emails, wiped his server with Bleachbit and destroyed all of his phones with a hammer, would the Mainstream Media suddenly lose all interest in the story and declare him innocent.
I was thinking;
If women do the same job for less money, why do companies hire men to do the same job for more money?
I was thinking;
If you rob a bank in a Sanctuary City, is it illegal or is it just an Undocumented Withdrawal?
I was thinking;
Each ISIS attack now is a reaction to Trump policies, but all ISIS attacks during Obama’s term were due to Climate Change and a plea for jobs.
I was thinking;
We should stop calling them all ‘Entitlements’. Welfare, Food Stamps, WIC, ad nauseum are not entitlements. They are taxpayer-funded handouts, and shouldn’t be called entitlements at all. Social Security and Veterans Benefits are Entitlements because the people receiving them are entitled to them. They were earned and paid for by the recipients.
I was thinking;
If Muslims want to run away from a Muslim country, does that mean they’re Islamophobic?
I was thinking;
If Liberals don’t believe in biological gender then why did they march for women’s rights?
I was thinking;
How did the Russians get Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC to steal the Primary from Bernie Sanders? How did Russia get Donna Brazile to leak debate questions to Hillary Clinton in advance of the debates?
I was thinking;
Why is it that Democrats think Super delegates are fine, but they have a problem with the Electoral College?
I was thinking;
If you don’t want the FBI involved in elections, don’t nominate someone who’s being investigated by the FBI.
I was thinking;
If Hillary’s speeches cost $250,000 an hour, how come no one shows up to her free ones?
I was thinking;
The DNC is mad at Russia because they ‘think’ they are trying to manipulate our election by exposing that the DNC is manipulating our election.
I was thinking;
If Democrats don’t want foreigners involved in our elections, why do they think it’s alright for illegals to vote?
I’m going to quit thinking for a while.
