    Jes as bright and shiny as can be outside, clear sky (a few fluffy clouds) and light breezes. Nothing to indicate that we are now dead under the center of the projected path of the hurricane/tropical storm, just like Katrina.

    I just love how the talking heads on the Weather Channel have to pull extemporaneous chatter out of their…hats…to meet the needs of the 24-hour news cycle. We were just told that the concrete floodwall along hiway 90 in Gulfport is MANMADE! And for those of you who thought the perfectly rectangular grey concrete wall may have been a geological accretion…wellllll, no you’ve been informed.

      Listening to the weather channel might be better than listening to state political news this morning. I got to hear how a Progressive Republican(seems that all the Democrats switched to Republican when it became clear the D word was a bad word in this state) wants to overturn Right to Work, because the poor teachers.

          Part of it is the stupidity of the Republican party or maybe it is the design of the Republican party. They don’t care who joins and runs as a Republican. They don’t care who votes either, that is what allowed the crap to happen to us in Oklahoma. Allowing voters to switch party affiliation a month before the primaries really bit our state in the a$$. This year Republicans didn’t even have to pretend to be Republicans, just say they supported teachers, taxes and medical marijuana.
          My DH keeps saying he wants to move, but where do you move where Republicans and voters aren’t idiots?

          I keep getting asked why I will throw my vote away on a Libertarian for governor or the extreme who says why would I vote for a Democrat. That’s their opinion if you vote for 3rd party it’s the same as a vote for a democrat. I just give the same answer, everyone votes for who benefits them, so I will do the same. A lot I don’t agree with when it comes to Libertarians but at least they think taxes are theft and are against public money being spent on abortions. So the two biggest issues in this state right now for me are taxes, since teachers want even more and abortion. Not raising taxes and not funding abortions is more than I can get from the Republicans.

          I’m also still trying to figure out how a Republican and a Democrat are any different.

    For years I’ve heard kids aren’t learning because they have to teach to a test, yet kids still aren’t learning and they also can’t pass a test. Doesn’t that pretty much say teachers are a failure at their job? I betcha they’ll do so much better this year after teachers got a raise…..hahaha
    They will still blame someone else for their failure after this school year as well.

    Well it looks like another fizzle (don’t take me wrong, I ain’t complainin’), Gordon’s going on a more eastward track, the rainbands aren’t wrapping around and the windfield’s just barely gonna touch us. With the exception of a few tree blowdowns that might effect power that’s about it.
    We’re seeing a few bubbles of rain and wind slide thru, some loose band-shaped cloud fragments but the main stuff, such that it is, won’t be here until after midnight. We’re still scheduled for a high chance of tropical storm winds (39 mph or better) but not in excess of 50ish mph. It’s screaming by at 15 to 17 mph so rain/wind shouldn’t be that bad.
    Weatherguessers have been on all day seeing how thinly they can slice this meatloaf storm, they have so much airtime to fill they just speak out of their…hats…at times. Even though the storm’s just 90 miles off shore, entering cooler coastal waters and failed to get its act together while over ideal waters they are still pressing that ‘panic the public’ button by saying that while it’s unlikely there’s still a small possibility it could turn into a hurricane. Yeah, it’s max winds are now 70 mph, what’s the big whoop if it did gain another 4 mph?
    Not satisfied with the panic they’ve inspired, as Gordon recedes they’re now talking about a depression that seems to have formed east of the Windwards. “Nothing to be worried about yet but we (you’re dedicated, omniscient and caring weatherguessers) will be keeping a close watch on it for you (just in case it turns into Sharknado and destroys ALL LIFE on the Gulf Coast).” Gotta learn to read between the lines down here.

        The exact same thing happened here in WI an illegal raped a pedestrian 14 year old girl, “poor misguided illegal” WI courts said now you have to leave our beautiful country.

        Ilegal was given the boot and came right back, raped the 14 year old of a big wig and suddenly the same rapist sympathizers want rough justice applied.

        Vile people.
