August 1977 Mcnickles (sp) Arena Denver Co. before they broke nationally they warmed up for Emerson Lake & Palmer Works Vol 1 tour. Show was incredible and so was the feeling a few years later when I recognized them on MTV.
My dad did, too. In fact, the car I am driving now I inherited when he died. He bought it used. It was one of those that had only 500 or so miles on it and was a year old. That was back in 2006.
Mom and Dad used to sit down and budget together and then they’d go out shopping for a new-to-us car on Dad’s day off. I don’t ever remember going with them. Usually Dad would trade in the old car and when we got home from school, there’d be a new car in the driveway and my sister and I would get so excited. From another article;
Before leaving for the day Thursday, the jury sent Ellis four questions, including one asking whether he could “redefine” the meaning of “reasonable doubt,” the legal threshold for acquitting a defendant. Ellis responded that the prosecutors had to prove their case not “beyond possible doubt,” but beyond “doubt based on reason.”
If I was Manafort’s attorney I would argue vigorously against this answer. A judge knows better than anyone (and I think this is a relatively neutral judge but I have not been paying much attention) but beyond a reasonable doubt and beyond doubt based on reason is not the same thing. Judge Ellis should not have defined reasonable doubt.
All the jury or even one member of the jury has to determine is that the reasonable man can find a rational explanation other than the one that the State has given and they have reasonable doubt.
If you can’t exhaust all reasonable explanations other than the State’s charges you have reasonable doubt.
I’d sit on that jury and present so much reasonable doubt they would acquit or be unable to reach a verdict because they would know they weren’t going home until it there was an acquittal because I wouldn’t moving even if they brought in a wrecking ball.
I want to see him found not guilty. As much as I hate the kind of things Manafort was probably doing, I want to see a mud pie thrown in Mueller’s face.
The problem is that most of what you are probably talking about is legal. Have they proved that he is guilty of the illegal acts?
Manafort is a lobbyist who has aided foreign governments with their elections and paid well for doing so. That isn’t illegal. If he hid income and didn’t pay taxes on it, that is illegal.
Paul Manafort is a shady character. He may even be a criminal character.
But he undoubtedly is someone who is being prosecuted because of who he knew. That would be one Donald Trump.
Had Manafort not made the decision to join the Trump campaign, tasked with managing the delegate floor fight at the Republican National Convention, Manafort would be leading his prior life of flim flam and influence peddling.
Had Manafort not been associated with the Trump campaign, he would not have been prosecuted. The feds had looked him over and then looked away years earlier.
Manafortโs team made that argument in closing argument coming close to if not exceeding the judgeโs prior order barring a defense of selective prosecution:
It was โnot until the special counsel showed up and started asking questionsโ that anyone seemed concerned about Manafortโs dealings with banks, Westling said, noting that none of the banks involved reported the alleged frauds to the authorities.
As a legal defense, selective prosecution may not hold much water. But in reality, this case is all about selective prosecution, and then some.
This is exactly right I was typing my answer. I agree with Professor Jacobson. This is a malicious prosecution, we fought this war over 2 hundred years ago.
No, the war we fought over 200 years ago, was not malicious prosecution by the Kings Officers, we fought for our individual rights, unalienable rights granted by God not the King. This is not a Democracy, we are a representative Republic big difference……
I know Col. Ken I was only addressing one of the aspects of the war, and that was the kings’s unbridled power, something our democrats and republicans are trying to force on us again. A majesty. No.
I sure hope the king and queen wannabes get soundly beaten into the ground.
โWhen the people find that they can vote themselves money that will herald the end of the republic.โ __Benjamin Franklin
We have a permanent underclass and a permanent oligarchy and here we are stuck in the middle fighting for our God given freedom.
Scott Adams the first sign โThe defense didnโt presents defense.โ
(Although I did post that the defense spit in the eye of the State by presenting no defense but instead dismissed the Stateโs case as unproven garbage, the first clue in my opinion was when Team Trump sent a response in Comic Sans to an officially inquiry ๐, I donโt even remember what Comic response was an answer to but it was a definite harbinger of the war chest that Team Trump is sitting on ) . That was not lost on anyone who has โlearnedโ Trump to the small degree that he is learnable.
The latter part of Scottโs talk is in sync with my thoughts. Get a wrecking ball and I ainโt moving.
Iโll happily sit in the company of Adams and Jacobson on this point. Although I would disagree with Adams that all 12 jurors want justice. There is simply no way to know that, Adams is always big on โYou canโt read peopleโs minds) unless he is doing the mind reading himself.
Hee hee! Every time they got it wrong, that is always the answer, you can’t reason with nut cases.
I have found that the best answer to “Blah, blah, blah…. didn’t practice true socialism/communism” is Why do you think so many profoundly stupid people have for centuries been incapable of implementing such a simple concept?
My new rule, always paint them into a corner. The nutcase can never answer the question because either a) Communism/Socialism has been tried and failed b) Only really moronic people have tried Communism/Socialism.
Screw ’em take away their cake and eat it in front of them ๐ !
Good morning, WeeWeed! Getting something for nothing is their permanent goal…and under socialism there are chosen winners and losers. The “masses” are never the winners.
Years ago a friend of mine gave a party to which she invited a former boyfriend and his new fiancee who was from the Soviet Union. He worked for the State Department in the diplomatic corps. His fiancee was a doctor. Of course the USSR came up as a topic of conversation. She claimed not to know that there were millionaires in the Soviet government. I always thought she was a spy. LOL!
My dream car from since it came out in 1965. I bought one (originally red, restored to white with a black interior) in the late 1980’s for $2000. No a/c, am radio only. Loved driving it from October to April, melted from May thru September. Unfortunately, it had a fatal flaw: some of the recycled steel used in building them had not been processed correctly, so it tended to rust. I spent alot of time repairing rust spots. Finally gave it up in 1990.
They were two standard Mustang wagon prototypes, and one Shelby GT wagon prototype made, Ford rejected the idea. Yes, there is a kit made of fiberglass that can be purchased but those three vehicles are highly sought after in the collector world.
The story of the “first” Mustang convertible is also a great read. Serial number 001 which should have been shipped to the Ford Museum was shipped to a dealership in error and purchased buy a Canadian airline pilot who rarely drove it. Ford offered for years to purchase it back but he held out. Eventually receiving millions from Ford for the car.
My dad had two white convertible mustangs, my sister had a blue one (her first car she bought from her history teacher. My BIL currently has a red Mustang I think it is a 1965 model. He has had it for at lest 30 years.
Afternoon czarina! I went to high school with kids who drove them. Iโm guessing theyโd belonged to their parents. I wanted one sooooo bad! I love seeing them at car shows and occasionally Iโll see someone driving around town in one. I can see where theyโd be very hot in the warmer months for sure.
(CNN)The Special Counsel’s Office has almost three times the number of exhibits it wants to show a jury in Paul Manafort’s next criminal trial compared with what it used in his Virginia case.
Yeah and President Trump is going to be impeached and November 2018 is coming with its blue wave and November 2020 is coming and Hillary is healthy as a horse and that nutter Ocasio-Cortez is gonna save the world and Bernie is the nicest guy and Stormy the whore is going to destroy the Trump Presidency, wait that lovely lass Omarosa is going to destroy President Trump and his kin with her mad illegal recording skills.
President Trump is chatting with and posing for pictures with our military and citizens.
Secret Service is popping veins all except one agent he is smiling very very surreal dynamic. I’ve never seen a giggling SS Agent while his ward is engaging with a crowd.
Judge T.S. Ellis III revealed in open court Friday that he has received death threats relating to his presiding over Paul Manafortโs trial for bank and tax fraud at a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia.
The judge has since retained the protection of the U.S. Marshals Service.
โI have the marshalโs protection,โ Ellis said. โI donโt even go to the hotel alone. I wonโt even reveal the name of the hotel.โ
โI had no idea this case excited this emotion in the public,โ he added.
BREAKING: #Manaforttrial judge wonโt release names of jurors citing safety reasons. Says he is under 24/7 US Marshals protection after threats and said โI had no idea this case excited this emotion in the public.โ
โ Paula Reid (@PaulaReidCBS) August 17, 2018 Ellis made the comments after a coalition of news organizations โ including The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Associated Press, CNN, NBC, Politico and BuzzFeed โ requested the names and addresses of jurors seated for Manafortโs case.
โThere is no reason to believe that extraordinary circumstances exist that would justify keeping jurorsโ names sealed โ particularly after they have rendered their verdict,โ their motion reads.
***
But Ellis disagreed, and rejected the motion for fear the jurors would be subject to the same harassment he has received.

The threats must be from the Left as the headline does not scream โRightwing Zealots Threaten Manafort Judgeโ
Dodgy as hell. I hope Judge Ellis sticks a red hot poker right through the malicious MSMโs black heart.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Bring it.

Ford never made a Mustang wagon. They exist – but they are conversions by other companies.

Judge in Paul Manafort bank and tax fraud trial ‘optimistic that case might end soon’

Ok.
How can Judge Ellis know this?
Answer, he can’t, he cannot legally be privy to jury deliberations.
Did he get another set of questions?
He cannot know if the jury is close to a verdict.
Does he know the jury is hopelessly deadlocked?
What is the definition of “might”?

I’m reading more about the case and shaking my head.
I wish I knew more about Judge Ellis….
Appointed by President Reagan, Judge Ellis doe not like attorneys or it appears the complicit MSM.

(CNN)The Special Counsel’s Office has almost three times the number of exhibits it wants to show a jury in Paul Manafort’s next criminal trial compared with what it used in his Virginia case.

MANAFORTโS JUDGE IS UNDER FEDERAL PROTECTION AFTER WAVE OF THREATS
http://dailycaller.com/2018/08/17/manafort-judge-threatened/
โ Paula Reid (@PaulaReidCBS) August 17, 2018
Ellis made the comments after a coalition of news organizations โ including The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Associated Press, CNN, NBC, Politico and BuzzFeed โ requested the names and addresses of jurors seated for Manafortโs case.
*********
The threats must be from the Left as the headline does not scream โRightwing Zealots Threaten Manafort Judgeโ
Dodgy as hell. I hope Judge Ellis sticks a red hot poker right through the malicious MSMโs black heart.

lilbirdee12โs prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
