Looks nice but we don’t have to go trhat far to ride decrepit, outdated, dangerous and inconvenient trains – we have an Amtrak station in town.

If I wanted to take the Amtrak from my home to NOLA for my Friday flight I’d have to leave here late Thursday afternoon (no morning Friday trains), get a cab from the train station to our place in NOLA, then on Friday morning get another cab to the airport.
On my return I’d have to get a cab from the airport to the vtrain station, hang around until earely evening and get the train back here. In all it would cost me more for the trains and cabs, not to mention the inconvenience, than the flight itself.

Oh Oh…just checked. To get from here to NILA is about a 1.5 hour drive and the flight to Dallas is about 2 hours. To getb to Dallas from NOLA by Amtrak is over 24 hours.
OK, to bring trhis back into the Doggity Day thread – I can bring my dog if I can stuff it into a crate. To bring it back into the realm of reality the closest I could come would be trying to stuff the 40-pound chihuahua into a dog crate. I’d be feeding her valium like Pez for the entire trip.

I’ll be in Texas with my middle son for his 50th and I seriously coukldn’t bring the 18.1437 kilo chihuahua (for any international readers). He has three show dogs at his house and mine would be out on the back porch with them teaching them to smoke grass and make prank phone calls.
It’s bad enough when two-legged grandpaw comes alone, his dogs have to work for measly show treats but granpaw allllllways has a pocket full of crap he freely hands out. Takes him weeks to get them back into shape.

Mine could teach them how to tap their toenails on a metal bed frame until their owner relents and gets out of bed at some fine hour long before the sun shows its happy face.
