  3. I really liked todays art because it is both funny, and meant to get children interested in reading. This reading octopus watercolor painting is by Jordan Ladikos:

I tried to make it as big as I reasonably could so you can read the title: “20,000 Leagues Above The Surface” with a picture of an airplane and eagle flying!

The Blaschka glass invertibrates today are all octopus. This first one looks like a happy guy:

I included this one because of his spots:

and this one reminded me of Jimmy Durante for some reason:

but his real name is Pteroctopus tetracirrhus Fourhorn – I like Jimmy better 😉

In fact, Trump’s response to Lemire, and his overall conduct at the press conference, did not convey weakness at all. Certainly he was far more assertive of US interests than Obama was in his dealings with Russia.

In Obama’s first summit with Putin in July 2009, Obama sat meekly as Putin delivered an hour-long lecture about how US-Russian relations had gone down the drain.

As Daniel Greenfield noted at Frontpage magazine Tuesday, in succeeding years, Obama capitulated to Putin on anti-missile defense systems in Poland and the Czech Republic, on Ukraine, Georgia and Crimea. Obama gave Putin free rein in Syria and supported Russia’s alliance with Iran on its nuclear program and its efforts to save the Assad regime. He permitted Russian entities linked to the Kremlin to purchase a quarter of American uranium. And of course, Obama made no effort to end Russian meddling in the 2016 elections.

TRUMP IN contrast has stiffened US sanctions against Russian entities. He has withdrawn from Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. He has agreed to sell Patriot missiles to Poland. And he has placed tariffs on Russian exports to the US.

So if Trump is Putin’s agent, what was Obama?

I get so sick of ignorant people. I have a neighbor that lives a couple of miles away, I haven’t talked to him in awhile and had no idea the crap he’s been going through.
His 13 year old daughter shows chickens, show chickens can get very expensive. A lady that lived down the road from him had a dog that kept coming and killing her chickens. He warned her 3 times to keep her dog up or he was going to kill the dog. She didn’t listen and it came back and killed 13 in one swoop, he shot and killed the dog with a chicken in it’s mouth. He really needs to learn these days you bury or better yet burn the evidence.
He failed to do that and she called the police, which told her a property owner has the right to kill anything endangering his livestock. That wasn’t good enough for her I guess, so she made a FB page for her dog and against him, called the news station and had them out. I hardly ever watch the news anymore so I missed it.
He’s the type of man who honestly doesn’t give a crap, he wore a shirt during his interview that said, “Yeah your opinion matters……just not to me.” He put the picture of the dead dog with the chicken in it’s mouth on his FB page and said, “Yeah I shot the damn dog, it was killing my daughter’s chickens and the lady making a stink cared so much about this damn dog she allowed it to keep coming to my place killing my chickens after 3 warnings that her dog was going to be shot.”

He has received hundreds of death threats from people as far away as California. They even threaten his daughter, one person told him she hoped his daughter was viciously raped and killed, again she’s 13 years old.
I told him I would sue her for the loss of the chickens. That is the only way to stop idiots, in this state as of now you are responsible for your animals. I’d go get the latest show chicken auctions and show how much they sell for, even if he didn’t pay that much. I know how idiotic some people are and I’ve been to those auctions and have seen people pay $500 for one stupid chicken. Then when I was in front of the judge I’d show him all the FB posts and comments.
He said he hadn’t thought of suing her, but he thinks he’ll go file on her Monday just to rile her up some more.

I told him though the next time burn the evidence and you never saw the dog, it saves you a lot of headaches from the idiots in this world.

I hate to see a dog shot because of a stupid owner. At one time, every dog owner knew that if your dog killed livestock, he would be shot.

The problem is out in the country we have folks that have lived a certain way with certain rules. Most always warned their neighbors and most neighbors would make sure their dog couldn’t get out and if it did they didn’t bent out of shape if it was shot. Now we have folks who move to the country who think the country means their dogs should be free to roam and others should be fine with a few chickens being killed if their dog is having a grand old time.

Now with social media and every news station being idiotic and reporting on every dog owner who was irresponsible and got their dog shot it makes it tough to raise livestock.
I’ve always hated to shoot people’s dogs and in the past always warned and begged them to keep their dogs up. If they don’t though out in the country you don’t have a dog catcher to call and if you call the sheriff he just tells you to shoot the dog.

        • When I lived in Scotland, Our neighborhood backed onto a sheep farm. If your dog bothered the sheep, the farmer would shoot your dog, get your address, and leave dead dog on your doorstep. All dogs wear ID over there.
I had to shoot one of my neighbor’s roosters. He was fighting my rooster at my house, and I couldn’t get them apart. I was a BIG CHICKEN and told him I hadn’t seen some prize Thai red-legged rooster!
You must be tough to live in the country sometimes.

That you must be and you can’t let your feelings guide you. We’ve had to put down many animals over the years, wild animals as well as dogs, even a few stray cats as they can and will wipe out a pen of young chickens. I don’t enjoy it and will admit it is a duty I always gladly gave to my husband if he was home when something needed to be killed, but there have been times when there was only myself to do the job.

Mean roosters around here go to the pot.

Actually, IMO, burning the “evidence” and denying everything is not advisable. When the police come to your residence to ask questions, and you know they will because she will report you, you’ll have to lie to them which will get you in court and possible conviction. Never a good idea to lie to authorities.

This is what I would have done: trap the dog, not shoot him even though the law was on my side. Call the police after taking thorough photos. Tell the police the complete background and that I want the woman arrested and prosecuted for allowing my property to be destroyed. She’s a party to it and must pay for being an accessory.

Sometimes just because something is legal, such as shooting a destructive dog, isn’t the best way to handle something no matter how angry you are. Look at the consequences…much worse than the chicken owner could have imagined.

This is no longer a sane world (if it ever was). People just might do what they say and come and kill the family and burn down the farm.

That doesn’t work, if you call the sheriff he will tell you to shoot the dog. If you pen it up on your property they will then accuse you of theft.

These kind of folks are stupid when their dogs disappear they may or may not go around and ask folks if they’ve seen their dog and they just think it ran away.

A neighbor that lives north of me about 3 miles a year or so back had 3 dogs chasing his cows, he found out who they belonged to and went and warned them if they didn’t do something about their dogs he was going to be left with not choice but to kill their dogs.
They of course did nothing like they always do. Their dogs turned up missing and they called the sheriff claiming he had killed their dogs. Sheriff told them even if he did he had the law on his side if they were harassing or killing his livestock. They never bothered to ask him if he killed them.
He wasn’t the one who shot them though, it was actually an elderly man who killed them. He raises ducks and turkeys and they got into his pen and killed several. He was telling me about a few months later but he didn’t know who they belonged to.

Trust me the way these people are these days it’s better to just keep things to yourself. Most country folks these days have gotten to the point where they don’t even warn them anymore. That means more dogs are shot that might not be shot, but they make your life miserable.

Another guy a few years back tried to do what you said and he caught the guy’s dog and penned it up, called the sheriff, showed him the video of the dog getting one of his calves down. He was told to shoot the dog because there was nothing they could do, but go tell them to keep their dog up. He did that and returned the dog to the owner, the very next day the dog was back. He shot the dog and the SJW made his life miserable, camped outside his home, threatened him, news cameras followed him around. He was then told by the police as long as they didn’t walk onto his property there was nothing they could do. For almost a month until they went onto the next story they made his life a living hell.

You are in a no win situation with them. So I will always say it’s better to just take care of it and keep your mouth shut.

I’m no good at lying. But, I never tell somebody that I am going to do something that might get me in trouble later. I was always afraid that I would threaten something, someone else would do it, and I would get the blame.

That’s the thing if you warn them then even if you don’t kill the dog they’ll make your life miserable by saying you did it. That’s what happened to the one neighbor. He received threats as well and he didn’t even kill the dogs.

Life would just be a lot better if they would keep their dogs on their own property or train them to not chase or kill livestock. I’ve never met one farmer or rancher that likes to have to shoot dogs, most of us love animals as much as the next person and have our own dogs. You can’t let a dog keep killing your animals though, because once they start they never stop.

I remember a time when people respected other’s property, that’s what it boils down to they have no respect.

I can assure you I have been fighting loose dogs for 50 years. I learned to dislike German Shepherds because there were so many running loose after we bought our first house in a place called Mira Mesa. People would turn them out before dark to go do their business and they would join up to make packs. It was dangerous to be outside then. Mira Mesa was on about a 1/4 acre lot. And, most of the people in our block had between 2 and 4 dogs, mostly German Shepherds. We moved out less than two years later. I was going nuts from not being able to sleep at night because of the barking.

People just can’t ever seem to understand why everyone doesn’t love their dogs.

I get so aggravated at people all the time for thinking they can bring their dogs to my place. I have made many friends and family mad telling them I don’t live in a dog park. Leave your dogs at home if you come visit me. The first thing they want to do is chase the animals and of course our LGD doesn’t take to kindly to that.

Those that don’t think they can leave home without their dog just don’t come visit anymore, which is fine by me.
My sister finally got the hint when her little yorkie almost became a snack when it started chasing chickens. Plus it is so annoying even when it’s in the house, constantly yipping at everyone. She quit bringing it with her though went it got away from her and almost got ate by the LGD. lol

According to the Daily Mail …

Between 5,000 to 7,000 service members are expected to march in President Donald Trump’s military parade this fall.

Preliminary planning documents from the US Department of Defense indicate the service members will be joined by 100 vehicles, 50 aircraft and 100 horses for the parade on November 10, the eve of Veteran’s Day.

Earlier this week the Pentagon revealed the parade, which Trump formally requested in January, will cost taxpayers an estimated $12million.

There are already 50 DoD employees working on the parade plans, and that number is expected to double by September and hit an estimated 3,000 the week of the parade.

I’ll likely be a minority of one here, but I think the $12,000,000 is a waste of taxpayer money. This parade is a gift to the Dems and will be, beyond doubt, a November election campaign ad for them.

May I make a suggestion? President Trump should use his salary charity donation to pay for it. It’ll prevent a ton of grief thrown down on all conservatives.

I have to disagree Lucille. The Left has proven again and again, it doesn’t matter what patriots or President Trump does. It doesn’t matter one iota.

We are by the Leftist’s lexicon, demonic, deplorable and irredeemable. There is no separation between us and a rabid savage attacking people with a knife.

We as a whole need to understand this and embrace it as our starting point of negotiations with them, the Far Left can no more be reasoned with than can the radical Islamists.

        Islam will rule the world!

        Leftism will rule the world.

Both of these entities think of us as sub-human so there is no reason to hope if we do a, b or c that a ton of grief won’t be thrown down on us. We can’t have a conversation to prevent that grief because the radical Leftist has a hate filled, hyper-emotional, manic, narrow minded, irrational view of the world, America, President Trump and patriots.

So 12 million dollars, I’ll bet when one of the MSM whiners starts belly aching about the money the answer is “$12 million dollars to celebrate our country and the men and women who defend her? Let’s talk about the billions of dollars we spend supporting illegal immigrants.”

If the Left gets really ugly President Trump’s plan may be to tell them to shut up and he’ll pay for it himself or his three eldest children may pay for it. Remember the Left is stuck between the blue flame and the boiling cauldron and they willingly buried themselves there.

There is a new sheriff in town and all of the Left’s nonsense about patriots being terrible people, a sovereign nation being a sign of xenophobic chicken littles, Trump being a psycho, guns having trigger fingers, spoons making people fat, and what ever other lunacy is on the menu every day is so over played that it no longer matters what patriots do.

They hate us. Ok. I can live with that but I will not adjust myself to make them feel better about their lunacy, whatever we do, whatever Trump does, there is a segment in society that only wants to see us dead and all we can do is live our lives in the shadow and blessing of our Creator no matter who we make angry.

        Just my 2 cents.
