In the 1970s a woman worked part-time for me at a small business office. She was foreign-born (from Scandinavia, if I remember correctly) and didn’t communicate in English terribly well. One day I was surprised when she said that she’d need to devote full time to making tapestries and would not be continuing her part-time job. She was also set for a showing of her work in the near future.

Amazingly, a good sized crowd attended the showing. And once again I was surprised. Her incredibly beautiful and large tapestries were being very well-received. In addition, several people made appointments with her to discuss commissions.

Just goes to show…you never know!

Here we are…just about on the 3rd day waiting for the guy who sertrvices our well. The pressure tank’s kaput and we’re on minimum water flow as provided by the tan’s submersible pump. He should be here in the AM.
Our regular well serviceman died suddenly and for all of the wells in the multi-county area we only have a handful of servicers. You look at the money they can make – they work basically 24/7/365 – and you wonder why there aren’t more folks out doing it. Granted it’s hard work in frequently bad weather but the prices the charge make up for the inconvenience.

New pressure tank……… been through this many times, when younger, just received a bar of soap, head towards the lake.

    • Oh my! So far I’ve moved so many times, I’ve never had to get a new tank. I had better pick out a company, and have their number on speed dial! Good luck on getting it replaced quickly!

Luckily the tank was fine, sniffer valve was out so tank couldn’t bleed air and prressure swith fried as pump was cycling too often. 1-1/2 hours of work and we’re good to go.

My brother owned a dairy farm in the Sacramento Valley in CA during the drought in the 1970’s. They had to truck in all of their water for their home and cattle. What a mess.

Not having water is a really bad thing, no doubt.

Well man just finished. It was 90 miles one way from his shop to our house, He replaced the pressure switch, the sniffer valve and redid some piping that connected the pump to the tank – on a Saturday, total cost was $292. I couldn’t get a plumber in the city to come out on a Saturday and change a faucet washer for that price.

          That’s a relief, and I agree – that’s a reasonable price.

Yeah. With folks like that the limitations of rural living shrink.
As we are our own provider we can adjust the water pressure according to our wishes. We take the water restrictors out of the shower heads and get showers we can turn up until they peel your skin. As we put all of that water we take out of the ground right back into the ground and have that 30 acre lake to impound water that pressure bleeds right back into the aquifer there’s really no waste. There are upsides to being your own provider and we use less power to move that water than the city does.

It’s a bit iron-heavy, like any well water in the South, but it’s been tested and is pathogen, ag chemical and icky element free. If we put a filter back on we’ll be iron free too.

Iron was a big problem around here too. The well at the family farm was very deep, and almost free flowing. The water there is cold and almost tasteless.

Your water percs thru different geology, most of the stuff in the South percs thru red clayn though we have a strange and large white sand layer a few dozen feetb down. In Florida we had iron-heavy ‘sweet’ tasting water. You could tell who was watering their lawns with a well as they’d have a brownish rings around the bottoms of their houses.

They also do 24/7 work at the same price. If I would have needed a new tank they have put a temp in place until they could get a new one and install it. Most of these country service people are great, you soon weed out the bad ones.

Just spoke to King Salman of Saudi Arabia and explained to him that, because of the turmoil & disfunction in Iran and Venezuela, I am asking that Saudi Arabia increase oil production, maybe up to 2,000,000 barrels, to make up the difference…Prices to high! He has agreed!

President Trump has a genius IQ, the street smarts of a Drug Lord, the instincts of a hawk, the protective nature of a mother bear, plays his enemies like a fine tuned fiddle and has the nuggets of a Honey Badger.

He is one fanciful dangerous formidable enemy.

Did you see how he just caused every NFL kneeler to spit in their own face?

Every time they spout some nonsense about our American flag and police brutality they are now going to look like the frauds that they are.

President Trump has challenged the kneelers to act like men and do some research then present a list of people that they think have been wrongly incarcerated and they will be considered for pardon.

Let’s see how many whiners actually do some work to work rather than stirring up crap to self promote themselves.

There actually was a player interviewed on FOX yesterday or day before. Plays for New Orleans and if I remember correctly from when I used to watch football is that he’s a fine Christian man. Even so, I didn’t watch the vid, because, frankly, I’m just not interested. I appreciate he did his homework, though.

King Salman ain’t got too many choices.
Snake in the woodpile is that, as I’d posted years ago next door, Turkey’s looking at rebuilding the Ottoman Empire in a modern form. It is the largest military in the Mideast and though a NATO member and a major player it’s leveraging it’s position with both Europe and Russia. It is also looking at improving its relations with Iran as Iran is arguably the most powerful force in the Mideast as it may have operational nukes.
The idea of its archenemy Iran getting cozy with a powerful Turkey that’s courting Russia has to worry the Saudis – it’s 1980 again with Russia potentially threatening US access to Mideast oil. Then you have Qatar sharing the Pars gas field with Iran, at odds with the Saudis so the new Saudi king has a lot on his gold plate. Trump knows that the king knows his butt stays on that plush throne largely due to the US needing it there so pump away dear Saudi royalty, your opulent lifestyle depends on oil flowing into US refineries.

According to Thomas Wictor, who seems to be quite connected to information streams, Saudi Arabia’s special forces are behind much of the anti-ISIS success in the Middle East and perhaps elsewhere. Saudi cooperation with the West is huge and not much on the radar. The Saudis are, of course, in competition with Erdogan re who is the keeper of the caliphate flame. And maybe they’re trying to make up for 9/11?

I don’t have the links, but you can check back in Wictor’s Twitter threads at threadreaderapp.com for his posts on the Saudi military and the equipment/munitions they’re using (shades of serious cooperation with Israel, perhaps? Think Iranian nuke files).

Yeah, the Saudis have been cozying up to the Israelis for some time – enemy of mine enemy stuff. Israelis also have better intel capabilities than the Saudis do. Of course the Saudis, who control Mecca and Medina, getting into bed witrh THE enemy of Islam doesn’;t go over all that well with the other Moslem nations and that breeds negativity towards the Saudis which drives them closer to the US and Israel…vicious circle there.
Saudi SF are good, they protect the Saudi royal family and the holy sites. The Saudis are also deeply involved with Yemen and their Operators working with ours in Yemenm meet all of our needs.
I’m still waitiung for the Saudis to go nuke – with their involvement in Pakistan it wouldn’t be hard for them to buy a few. If Turkey gets into bed with Iran, even a kinder, friendlier more mullah-free Iran, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Saudis go shopping.

Escher actually did a cat drawing! Here is his very early ‘White Cat 1’ 1919:

Then we have this painting by Kellas Campbell:

Now there was no fadeawy with a cat, so I thought – oh well what would a cat’s attitude be – of course, “E la vita!”, so here is a fun poster showing that attitude:

Here is another painting by Coles Phillips, (he did most of the fadeaways), that includes a cat. I don’t know who is going to get the worst of this the cat, or in the end the kid!

    Enjoy Caturday! 🙂

    The Trans-Siberian Railroad

Russia’s 17.1 million square kilometres easily make it the world’s largest by area. In fact, if Russia were to lop off 7 million square kilometers, it would still be the largest—and the lopped-off section would rank seventh overall!

The Trans-Siberian Railroad goes through seven time zones and 5,772 miles of taiga (swampy coniferous forest), steppe, and mountain. It’s the longest railway line in the world. (Sorry, forgot to make note of where the copy is from.)

        Just found this:

In 2008, the Russian Railways JSC (state company) launched a program for the accelerated delivery of containers cargo by block trains from the Far-Eastern ports (Vladivostok, Nakhodka and others) to the western borders of Russia, called “Transsib in 7 days”. Within the framework of the program it is planned to decrease the cargo delivery time from the Far East from 11 days in 2008 to 7 days in 2015. The length of the routes is about 10.000 km. The speed of delivery via the block trains should increase from 900 km per day in 2008 to 1.500 km per day in 2015. The first accelerated experimental block-train was launched in February 2009 from the Vladivostok station to Moscow. The length of the route was about 9.300 km, the actual time of the experimental train’s delivery was 7 days and 5 hours, the average route speed was up to 1.289 km / day. The maximum route speed of the train was 1.422 km / day.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
