We are expecting a lot of rain this week. Kind of looks like it will stall out for days right where the last hurricane hit that caused so much damage last year. I’m sorry y’all are getting slammed. Did the water get in your house? 😦 I hope your rain stops soon.

We had a problem with the bread machine. I would take the loaf out, cut off each end, we would share them, along with another piece and sometimes there was enough left for each of us (3) to have a piece with dinner. We were all gaining weight. LOL

Some restaurants in NO make fresh rolls & small bread loaves to place on your table while waiting for your food. You can’t NOT eat that lovely thing, with the butter they supply, so you get full but are very satisfied. When the food arrives you eat some, feel happy, take the rest home, and think well of the restaurant. I LOVE fresh bread….

I know a couple who got married in mid-twenties and not long after became vegetarians. The young wife thought it would help his fussy stomach and headaches. They ate a lot of pasta. After awhile the husband started getting weak and something was wrong with his muscles to the piont he was walking with those canes that hook aroound the wrist and forearm. Every month he had a different diagnosis and no solutions. Finally, someone thought to test for celiac. When the results came back positive, they headed out for a huuuge burger.
Fast forward ten years, he is strong and virile and the deterioration has been reversed pretty much. We joke the young bride was killing her husband slowly with the pasta.

Crap, just looked at the middle school my GGS will be going to this year. 96% low income, 78% black and the stats – how shall we say – suck. The way the districts are gerrymandered there’s no way he can get into the other middle school that’s 56% white and has better numbers.
Our schools are bad enough but to have numbers like these have, especially in the casino strip where the gummint done promised us that allllllll the monies would go to the schools, this is going to be a helluva year.
Ilooked at my old elementary school in Florida. Enrollment is now 73% Hispanic and 20% black. 97% are low income and 46% are learning English while attending school. When I went there the majority of styudents were white (schools were still largely segregated) but the majority of students were from military families of had civilian parents working at the air base or airport. As I’ve said before, we were ‘encouraged’ (mid 50s remember) to take Spanish classes as we were told the population there would eventually be heavily Spanish speaking. The leveling of America continues.

He was tested this summer for the gifted program but what benefits that will get him in this particular school are unknown. I’m going to have to go down when we have the parent’s sit-down and first and foremost explain to them that my experience with the NOLA thug production system and civil court remedies swill be put to full use if they don’t scrupulously enforce student safety. From what I hear your first priority at this school is keeping your kid safe from marauding thugs-in-training.
The school performs below the state’s mediocre averages in Eengleesh and math-a-matix so we have to work out a plan.

His getting out of there’s not a real possibility at this time. We have an option but I believe neither he nor his mom would consider it viable. Looks like I’ll have to stay with the offensive operational plan for the time being.

Teach him to fight, to defend himself. Both formal discipline like karate and serious street fighting. An oldtime approach my mom used for a brother who was a pipsqueak of a tiny kid, was to send him to school with double the lunch treats for him to share before anyone demanded them. He offered before bullied for his lunch as a pal gesture. Then after a week of this, Mom instructed him to ask same tough guy to borrow a pencil because everyone likes to, deep down, be both a giver and a receiver. The giving and receiving had both boys mutually invested. Her goal was to not take the target off his back but to not let it even get slapped on him.
Also, good suggestion above about getting him into honors classes but be prepared. They are not what they used to be and now are an avenue to program for progressive leadership. Ofttimes the workload and expected output is less that regular course. Two kids in tenth grade English one regular, other advanced placement. The latter had lots of oral guided discussions on material and/or projects instead of actual paper writing. All were themed around liberal pc agenda. The former, in reg course had same material topic content but had traditional teaching format. He wrote 5 papers whereas the advance placement did not have even one! His classes was “experience” based. Use the advance classes as an avenue to get out but know what up against.

Can’t talk them into homeschooling or private school?
Talking to a lot of people getting signatures on our petition for what I call the teacher tax, I’ve discovered there are lots of people who either already homeschool or use the online public education, or are planning on homeschooling next year or seriously thinking about it.
Of course many just don’t want any new taxes. lol
Then I’ve had a few rude teachers try to grab the petitions or cuss me out for taking their money. They’re not real bright. We were told to play nice with them and explain to them the petition getting it on the ballot won’t and can’t take away the salary increase that was passed, just the tax. I don’t play nice and don’t explain anything to them. I have told a few if they’d like to keep their fingers they best keep them off the signatures. I record them when they start cussing me and ask them what school they teach at so I can send it to their school board. That usually shuts them up and has them walking away.
Public education needs to become a thing of the past.

This has just been a nightmare week. We have another house that we’ve been trying to sell and someone broke in and tore it up. Scrapped the A/C, tore down walls to pull out electric, stole the appliances, ripped up carpet, stole the bathroom vanities.
Then someone hacked our bank account, so we’re having to battle the bank and prove it. I’ve been arguing with them for 3 months now because I can’t get into my account online and told them I was afraid something had happened. They keep saying it’s just having issues. It’s a huge mess all around. Obviously it was having huge issues as money has been withdrawn that we didn’t withdraw. They can’t explain how it happened and are fighting us on covering their screw up.
Meeting with insurance adjuster Monday, so I guess we’ll find out what kind of battle that will be.
Then we’ve been battling fleas, ticks and scorpions. That’s a somewhat minor thing, but on top of everything else this week, it feels bigger than it is.
Then the Oklahoma Supreme Court denied the petition many Oklahomans have spent countless hours working to get signatures. They made sure to not rule promptly like they always have in the past and wait two weeks to rule, making it nearly impossible for new petitions to be drawn up changing it to fit how they want it and get the needed signatures by next month, the cut off date. Of course the sorry ass teachers are gloating to no end along with the State Superintendent and the union.
I just want to go to sleep and wake up and this week to have never happened.

So sorry Michelle, all I can offer is prayers. When it rains it pours, I can’t believe the bank is fighting you, the bank can see exactly where the money was withdrawn. I hope you already have an attorney, this is just a thought off the top of my pre-caffeinated brain but since you were locked out of your bank for 3 months, and the bank is giving you a hard time my first inclination would be toward an employee.
I would ask the bank in an email (no verbal communication) how many other of its customers are having the same problem. It sounds very fishy.
And your other house, how terrible, some people are just rotten.
(((Michelle)))

It was electronically withdrawn and transferred to a bank account overseas, they’ve traced it. It’s just a fight to get them to cover it, it was their screw up, not mine.
A huge hole in their system because in order to withdraw it like that, they would have had to know the e-mail, the bank password, not just the password to access statements, phone number and last 4 digits of social security number. We never electronically withdraw money outside of ATM and have never electronically entered any of that information.
The other house they totally trashed, tore out walls to get to electric, totally destroyed the bathrooms. Every time we go over we find something else they tore up, just an estimate in our head, it’s over $30,000 worth of damage. Cops are useless, when we asked about fingerprints we were told that’s a waste of time because it wouldn’t prove they did it. How the hell could it not prove they did it? Which I asked and was told because they could say they were looking at the house. I told them we have a list of everyone who has been shown the house and those people would not have touched the A/C and certainly not the electrical panel or inside of the walls.
Then we were told they don’t have the time to investigate things like this and even if caught they would just be fined, so it’s a waste of time. Well heck no reason they have no fear of stealing and breaking into houses.

His mom isn’t up to homeschooling and her job makes her subject to shift changes. The city’s not a big one and revolves around tourist/gambling and where there are a very few private schools they are very small and extremely expensive so that puts it out of reach even with our help. We'[re just going to have to see where this thing goes.

In 2017 MS moved to 47th place with DC,WV and NM standing between it and LA at last place. The state barely has vital services online.
I’m looking at a private school, we’ll just pull the money out of savings, but the only private schools in the area are Baptist or Catholic and he and his mom aren’t either so we’ll have to see how that goes.

Well most “catholic” schools aren’t Catholic anymore either.
The catholic schools my friends went to (k-12), and sent their children to all had non-catholic kids. More and more non-catholics are sending thier children to catholic schools because they will be safe, and at least learn the basics. Catholic schools are not like they used to be 50-60 years ago.
Do you know of any local people you trust who home school their kids who would take in your GGS also? I’ve had local people ask me a couple of times to homeschool their children, but I couldn’t because of my inconsistent health.
I also have seen ads on TV for online schooling that is free in most states. It’s usually on at night. I’ll write down the name the next time I see it.

No, I don’t trust anyone in the beighborhood sdhe lives in and we’re some 60 miles apart. It ain’t the best neighborhood.
We’re going bto see how this year goes and have some discussions with the schhol staff and superintendent, if need be we’ll have our lawyer send them a ‘get acquainted’ letter just in case they don’r believe we’re serious. We’ll also attend some parent meetings and see if there are other parents willing to stor the poop, the stas between the city’s two middle schools are night and day so there’s leverage there.
If there are any doubts whatsoever we’ll scoop him up and winnow through the ‘pasrtochial’ schools to see which one is the least likely to push their doctrine ahead of education.

Good Morning everyone!
Here is the first in our MC Escher series. His earlier drawings are more stylized landscapes rather than the later drawings for which he is now famous. These are mostly posted by date oldest to newest. This is Castrovalva 1930:
Since all but one of these are black & white I wanted to add some color. In the back of my mind I remembered seeing an old illustration using negative space. Searching for negative space illustrations, I found they were called “fadeaway” illustrations. Most were done by C. Coles Phillips, but some, including this 1st one, were done by Valentine Sandberg:
We had a short burst thunderstorm last night which is good – means I don’t have to water the new grass and wildflowers I planted 🙂 Planted the wildflowers on an embankment too steep to mow with the sit down lawnmower, that way only mow them down once a year with the regular mower. Feels like it will take forever to get the lawn in, even though it’s (in total) only about 3/4of an acre. Hve to clear all the smaller rocks and root pieces ourselves by hand, then time the watering because we have a well (which we would MUCH rather have than city water any day!). Going back to original thought of putting wildflowers as much around the perimeter as I can – (less mowing, less watering 🙂 ), but don’t want them right up to house or around well.
Got to get going. Good thing I did these ahead of time, because hospital had new glue-down carpeting!!! It made me very sick, but have to get stuff done. I apologize for not saying hi to everyone individually, but am very tired, and the carpet glue irritates my eyes for almost a week, so “HI EVERYBODY!” 🙂 (waves HI)
I was thinking since it’s summer of doing a sea themed series (with a little surprize as well) next if that sounds good to everyone. Please let me know so I can start ahead of time. Thanks 🙂 Have a great day!

Don’t do what I did. Years ago, in S. Cal, we had a berm at the back of our yard that was hard to mow. So I bought 4 flats of ice plant and planted all over it. Each day I went out to put a little water on it and they looked rattier and rattier. I was wondering why I paid good money for such ratty plants. Finally, I went out one morning and they were completely chewed up and pulled out of the ground. That is when I discovered that the ducks, we had just gotten about the same time we bought the plants, LOVE ice plants. 😦

I had to look up ice plants, and they are asters – very pretty I can see why you planted them. I think they would be OK here. I get a lot of deer [1], one female elk, chipmunks, and a very pushy, fat, hungry groundhog.
[1] I cut down or had the tree stump guy pull out every shrub the deer eat – about 25. I have only 3 more to cut down. The deer would not want to move so we could get our front door! – pushy- pushy! …and I don’t like deer meat!

They grow well in S. Cal. in the desert atmosphere with little water. But, they are very pretty.

Loved Escher since my father brought a book home when I was in high school. Never saw the early ones like that one. I like it! Negative space always makes me smile when I see it, sort of like that op-art you had to unfocus your eyes to see.
We have down slopes to the lake that need a lot of work, b/c they are mostly volunteer trees & big weeds, plus stumps of things I killed earlier. I hope to get them landscaped before I die…

Yes, I’m fascinated by negative space illustrations as well. I think they are good for your brain. Negative space is important in any work of art, not just fadeaway illustrations.
That slope was the hardest to deal with. We did it 1st because it is beside our driveway, & we did not want to lose soil & support. If it was like yours with vegetation on it (ours was just dirt), we would have done it a bit at a time, easier for you, better to keep it from eroding. Have fun!

Since I’m landlocked and probably will never have a chance to walk the ocean beaches again in my lifetime, I would be especially delighted with a sea themed series…

So sea-theme it is! 😉 , but you never know what the future may bring, maybe libraries will eventually have that virtual reality set up, and you can travel the world!
Here is a tall ship to tide you over the next 9 or 10 days. I love the tall ships, especially our beloved USS Constitution. This is a coast guard vessel.

Ya know, since everyone across the world has a camera phone, we get so few of those classic UFO pictures. Do you think they don’t come here anymore? As for the critters, deep woods & deep lakes/oceans are easier to hide in. I guess this was a convention of sorts, picture probably taken by a yeti. Maybe a cos-play party, where they could hide in plain sight.

I think the only place that the ‘classic’ UFO’s still exist is Cuba and I’m pretty sure this was a “furrycon’ and the Nessie was just one of their upscale pool toys….:0) Morning czarina.

Mornin all…Lordy, this is going to be one loooonnnng week. Last October when my DH passed, I made the decision to postpone his memorial service until this summer and well, the service is scheduled for this Saturday,
With everything else that’s going on, I’m fielding calls and dealing with meals, lodging & logistics for all the friends, family and acquaintances that will be flying in for the service. I’m already cranky and wishing the week was over.

Been watching the purple martins all week, since we saw lots of activity & 4-5 baby faces peeking out of the openings in the houses. The one I’m trying to post has 3 little ones in the top right window, variously pushing farther & farther out, with the adults flying in place in front of them encouraging them to come out & fly. Every morning & evening I peer at them, & these 3 are still there, adults trying to get them out. Purple martins will gather & leave near the beginning of July, after the last fledglings are strong enough to make the trip to Brazil. I’ll try to get better pix, but today is bright & hazy.

Blue to match the carpet blue would work. I’d probably put in a rust red davenport (as I remember my grandmothers call the couches which made into beds).
Right now my living room sports a muted-red couch. Comfy when the cats permit me to use it. Above the couch is a very modern artwork called “Tonic”–why, I don’t know–which has reds, blues (light and dark), yellow gold, black, tan with a background that looks sort of like ancient map grids and marks.

Monica Showalter’s piece at AT today may be bulls-eye center:
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/06/the_creepy_fbi_backstory_to_explain_why_the_oigs_conclusion_was_so_wimpy.html
Within her post, she links to an article in American Spectator:
https://spectator.org/why-the-oig-report-should-scare-the-hell-out-of-you/
Excerpt:
“The Justice Department’s tepid OIG report, with its risible assertion that there was no political bias in the FBI’s Clinton email probe, suggests that it was written by people afraid to tell the unvarnished truth …. The FBI’s leadership clearly hopes that the Democrats will win majorities in Congress and put a halt to the investigations into its multifarious abuses of power. The OIG is loathe to face the ruthless reprisals that would inevitably follow such a disaster.
“In other words, the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General is filled with people who fear the FBI.”
I think David Catron nails it.
This point is included:
“But the truth isn’t what matters to any of the Democrats as the midterms approach. They know there is more damning evidence on the way if they don’t stop the investigations of the chicanery that went on before and after Trump was elected.”
If I knew how, I would put this last paragraph in BOLD:
“The Inspector General is not merely afraid of reprisals from the most powerful government police organ on the planet, his report hedges his bets because he isn’t sure that our democratically elected representatives are going to win the war they are fighting with the deep state. He knows that if the Democrats win in November, the deep state will devolve into a police state.”

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

ANOTHER FBI INFORMANT APPROACHED THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN IN 2016
I promised to send you updates on the Mueller investigation. Today, I’ve got a big one for you.
While I was meeting with Mueller investigators in May, I noticed they knew far too much about a man I spoke to on the telephone. I suspected he was an FBI informant. Your donations helped me investigate him in the United States and Russia and I discovered he was an FBI informant for 17 years!
I exposed the FBI informant, and posted the investigation on http://www.DemocratDossier.org – a Web site devoted to exposing the bad guys behind the bogus Russia investigation. You can learn all about the FBI informant at DemocratDossier.org. And if you like the work they do there, you can donate.
Thank you so much. With your help, I was able to expose yet another FBI informant spying on the Trump campaign. This may prove Obama’s investigation started two months earlier than they claim! This can end up being really important, and it’s all because of you.
Check out DemocratDossier.org as soon as you can – and help pass the FBI Informant story around on social media!
