The 37th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. This ceremony honors law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty. The Roll Call of Heroes read during the ceremony will honor the 199 police officers who lost their lives in 2017 and previous years.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions is also expected to speak at the event.

Our son attended that event back in the early 2000s, George W spoke and those present were enthusiastic and grateful for his presence and words. Son’s best friend, fellow-office on the Portland police force, had been killed on duty during the previous year.
His friend was killed responding to a false bomb reported to be at a golf course club house. He was going lights and sirens, slid out of control on a wet street, and collided with concrete barriers.

RIP Deputy Kelly Fredinburg.
In 2007 Deputy Kelly Fredinburg was killed when responding to a police action south of Gervais Oregon. He had his siren and lights going and his car was hit ‘head on’ by another driver. Fredinburg’s vehicle was engulfed in flames and he died on site.
The driver of the other car De Jesus Ascencio was indicted on two counts of criminal negligent homicide. He fled to Mexico before being arraigned on the charges. On Jan. 20, 2017, Ascencio was arrested in the state of Puebla in Mexico. He was transported to Baja, California, where he was released ACCIDENTLY one month later.
In December of 2017 Ascencio was again arrested on the negligent homicide warrant and perhaps, with President Donald Trump supporting our officers, justice will finally be served.

Did anyone notice the tiny little old lady in the family on stage who just wanted to touch the President all the time? She even had her hand on his arm after he let go of her hand and turned back to speak in the microphone. It was so touching. She looked at him like she thought he was just wonderful. 🙂

Shes lived a long time. 90 years is enough time to see good and bad, repeatedly, and be able to discern wisely between…
