Mike Pompeo confirmed by the Senate and sworn in as Secretary of State

Secretary Pompeo was confirmed on a 57-42 vote.  All Republicans present voted to confirm, and were joined by seven Democrats.

After the vote, Pompeo was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito in the West Conference Room of the Supreme Court.

 

The Senate also confirmed Richard Grenell, President Trump’s choice for ambassador to Germany. Grenell, a former spokesman at the United Nations, was confirmed 56-42.

    I am so glad. I was going to be really mad if this didn’t happen. I mean, there is too much going on in the world to not confirm him.
