You’re welcome, sand. I love Earl Grey, too!
We never drank anything but Lipton’s orange pekoe iced tea when we were kids; so I knew nothing of the other tea varieties. In the 60s my best pal, Bill, invited me to his home and he served Earl Grey, mainly because he liked it but also because he wanted to introduce me to all the teas he enjoyed. I don’t remember the brand but it was the best tea I’d ever consumed and has remained a fav ever since.
Bill and I were true pals but never an item together. I’d advise him on his girlfriends and he’d let me know what he thought of my boyfriends. I still have the large post card (now framed) he sent me from New York where he’d taken his girlfriend to propose to her. The final line of the card reads, “Keeping you in my heart always. Bill” Isn’t that sweet!

I love Red Rooibus tea from South Africa. With a little honey, no milk. Mmmm.

My iced tea is half Earl Grey, and half Darjeeling. I’ve never had tea from South Africa!

It’s kinda hard to find. I get it from a local health food store, but I’ve bought it from Teavana as well. I reckon most specialty tea shops would have it. I don’t know of the health benefits, but I have a co-worker from South Africa that gave me some to try, and I really like it!

I’ve sort of become fond of iced tea and a quality lemon vodka – with a little more lemon if you like. Great way to top off a sticky Southern summer afternoon. Lotta ice…whole lotta ice.

My son and DIL sent me tea from The Fava Tea Company for Christmas along with some really cute tea steeping things. There are 7 different kinds, but my favorite is the Fava’s Winter Blend.

Yep, my mamma only bought Lipton’s orange pekoe, and being southerners we drank iced tea. I was 3 years out of college when my boyfriend’s mother taught me about other teas!

One year we had zillions of hummers, had 7 feeders which had 6 places at each, filled all the time. Dropped off over the years & now I only see one bird at time, seems there is one male, one female, one juvenile (but could be more as each of these types looks like all the other in its type), but never 2 at a time.

My parents always kept a humming bird feeder hanging on the tree in the front yard. They were convinced the same humming bird came every day to feed and named him Jubal (after a character in a Louis L’Amour novel).

An oldie, and a goodie.
Starting at 02:49, on the harmonica, with the bare feet, is Shel Silverstein, who wrote most of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show’s lyrics, and plenty of wonderful kids’ books, too.
Happy Sunday, Stellars!

1962. I was born in ’71. Shel Silverstein was ahead of his time.
His IQ was probably above 140. I’ve never heard of that album. Oh, it’s wonderful and strange.
“Inside Folk Songs” I think I wish I had a turntable, and could get that on vinyl.
I always knew he was a genius. I didn’t, until today, realize to what extent. And the world thought Jim Morrison, Jimi, and The Beatles were genius. This guy surpasses them all.
He’s got a song (#3) on that album, “You’re always welcome at our house.”
What. The. Actual. heck is wrong with this guy. Nobody knows.
One of my best friends, a couple who healed me, his wife died in 2012, on Leap Day.
Dr. Hook was their favorite band, outside The Who. I like to think that I was instrumental in making this dude not murderous, during the period where his wife was dying.
I took a video on my new phone, of them together, around a campfire, with “Sylvia’s Mother” playing loudly out of the camper, as he kissed her chemo-bald head and loved on her. I saved it to his computer.
I showed it to him after we spread her ashes in Lake Michigan.
That was him in a phone booth, in the early 70s. Just 20c more. For the next three minutes. She had to go and die on him. So glad to know about Shel Silverstein.
Life is odd.

There was so much Christianity in 80s pop, in hindsight. Even in the heavy metal.
Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors”, for instance. Everything by Van Halen was positive. Genesis’ “Mama”, the best anti-abortion song ever performed, though he denies it.
I tell kids at work, when Journey comes on the Pandora: There are two types of people in this world — people who love Journey, and liars.

Knowing that Larson is a nerd, I understand his disconnect.
You don’t snort quack. You smoke it in a pipe.
The joke was well-intentioned, but made in ignorance, and falls flat as a joke.
And for the record, I’ve never smoked or snorted anything related to the Coca plant, and I never will. But I do know what quack is, and it isn’t snorted.
In the past, I’ve had people, well intentioned I guess, offer me coke.
I always tell them, “The only thing that goes in my nose is my finger.”
One time I pretended to sneeze violently on their pile. They became demons, real quick.
I thought it was funny. They sure didn’t. 😀

People here get fooled every year. It is at least a month before it is safe to plant tomatoes in the ground here. For one thing, the soil isn’t warmed yet.
LikeLiked by 1 person
We went thru an unseasonably warm Feb and March, the weaker ones couldn’t resist the urge (“It couldn’t POSSIBLY get cold again…”) and Bonnie Plant’s stock goes up.
I bought early – got those ‘first of the season’ tall ‘maters that have been perkin’ since December and they’ve been carryin on as I carry them out of the garage into the warmth daily. The stores are selling those now they’d grown for later in the season so folks gonna be planting 4″ tall ones and not getting the root growth they should have.

Some people plant here, but cover the plants with cloches. The Amish (I’ve observed myself) use upturned cut-off gallon milk jugs for small plants.
LikeLike
I have plenty of time, I can wait. My main issue is soil temp as mine has a good bit of clay and doesn’t heat up as fast so I risk stunting the tomatoes and peppers.
I keep fertilizing them while waiting to plant and they keep growing. The bigger they are when I plant them the more stem I can get into the ground and the better their root systems will be.

I only ask because, well, this isn’t my blog and stella might tell me to mind my own business, but if this means what I think it means, I think it needs to stop. Obama was accused elsewhere in this thread of a serious crime based on a picture a little girl had taken with him. Not on solid evidence or at least strong circumstantial evidence, but on a picture. This looks like an insinuation Al Gore has done the same.
I don’t like Obama. I don’t like Al Gore. But I’m very sensitive these days to people being accused of the crimes that appear to be alleged here. This is the stuff that ruins lives, and I’ve seen it happen. Nothing less than solid evidence will do for even the suggestion to be made. There is plenty of wrongdoing those two can be credible accused of. Events that have been referred to in some comments should not even be brought up unless there is credible evidence for it.

With all of the talk about President Trump’s infidelities, did the rest of you know about George H.W. Bush’s long-time affair with Jennifer Fitzgerald? Apparently it was uncovered at the time he was running for reelection and reported in the newspaper, but I don’t remember ever hearing about it, and it supposedly was the reason for Barbara Bush’s depression. James Baker was opposed to Fitzgerald, who was GHWB’s primary confidante for many years, working for him first in Beijing, and right on through his political career.

We have had a big family weekend. Yesterday my second son & my youngest brother’s oldest daughter just graduated from college, Eastern Michigan University, with Bachelor’s Degrees! Yesterday was also my parents’ 56th wedding Anniversary, providing an enduring example of love, laughter, character, perseverance, & Christian witness to us all! Today my niece, yesterday’s graduate, called to say that she & her boyfriend just got engaged! They may marry as early as August.
All of my mom’s natural descendants, 14 kids & grandkids (& 3 step grandkids) are All committed Christians! All spouses & fiances also serve the Lord. Most of the kids & grandkids made a commitment to purity & saved/are saving themselves for marriage. My mother was “conceived in sin” (as are we all) to 2 unwed teenagers & adopted as an infant by a loving couple who couldn’t have their own children & had already adopted my grandpa’s sister’s out-of-wedlock son. The Lord brought forth, protected, & preserved her life…& led her to a place of hungering & thirsting after Him, going beyond her more traditional Christian upbringing into a vibrant, prayerful, & worshipful relationship with the King of Kings! God has redeemed the time & through my mother has brought tremendous blessings to the world.
I am so incredibly thankful for the heritage of faith that has permeated my family! Thank the Lord for Godly parents, husband, & children who choose to follow The Narrow Way & Path of Peace in Christ. Thank you Jesus for this blessing that I too often take for granted.
Proverbs 31:28 New International Version (NIV)
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
