    Jimmy Kimmel claimed he was keeping this year’s Oscars positive, but the ratings were anything but.

    The politically charged 2018 Academy Awards were down 18 percent compared to the 2017 viewership with an 5/8 rating/21 share and 22.4 million total viewers in Nielsen’s overnight numbers from 7-11 p.m. ET, according to TheWrap.

    The sharp decline marks what could become the lowest-rated Oscars of all time on a night when host Jimmy Kimmel and the crowd of Hollywood elite focused on diversity, feminism and political issues as much as it focused on the films being honored.

    The lack of high-wattage stars in the major categories, as well as a ho-hum slate of films when it came to box office receipts, may have also been a factor.

    Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor told Fox News viewers shouldn’t be surprised that the show turned political and featured “divisive, left-wing politics” throughout the four-hour event.

    “The Tinseltown elite genuinely hate the people they expect will pay to see their movies and watch their TV shows,” Gainor said. “Why do we support them?”

    During the show, Kimmel lauded the actual Oscar statue, noting its age of 90 and taking a swipe at Fox News viewers in the process: “Oscar is 90 years old tonight, which means he’s probably at home tonight watching Fox News.”

    Kimmel wasn’t the only one getting political throughout the night. Stars Kumail Nanjiani and Nyong’o took the stage to share a message of support to Dreamers ahead of announcing “Shape of Water” as the winner of best production design.

    A musical performance from Common and Andra Day of “Stand Up for Something” was an ode to American activism with politically charged lyrics about topics like the NRA, the Parkland shooting, immigration, feminism and Puerto Rico.

    A variety of Hollywood stars spoke about diversity and the #MeToo movement when they were given a chance to speak.

    Frances McDormand, who was the “Best Actress” winner for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” used her speech to call for inclusion riders after urging all females who were nominated in any category in 2018 to stand.

    The Hollywood elite giving the Hollywood elite awards for being a member of the Hollywood elite. Moreover, awards for portraying someone else who is doing something/has done something – an award for not being themselves.

    I am reblogging this even tho it crosses one of my rules. This video uses examples that only pan one side of the political spectrum in the US. I do not promote either side IN MY BLOG. When you watch this please remember that famous people that feel towards the other party have no more reason to expect their fans to follow their opinions about politicians. I mean to offend no one, this just follows my opinion of celebrities with egos the size of SUVs.

      IRL, most of my best friends for many years are on the other side of the aisle.

      They all respect the opinions of their Stars on the Tee-vee, more than the opinions of their friends for years, or their employees, employers, or anyone not on the Tee-vee (or NPR).

      I get that. They’re still my best friends for years, and the hardest-working, longest-suffering people I know. I don’t take their sage advice on anything we normally talk about here, in this sphere, either. On how to cook and build and fix, and a hundred other skills? Yep I sure do listen.

      On these societal and political and religious issues, I don’t take a side in my life, with most of my best friends. I just love them. I know that I don’t have a television bezel around my head, and a nice glass-and-wood-and-chrome anchor desk, with sound production and a video behind my own head in the corner. I don’t waste my time in real life, by trying the impossible things. And it only ever leads to anger on both sides.

      Sometimes I want to say to people who only listen to the opinion of the Well-Known:

      “Who do you know better? Me or your News Anchor?”

      This is a refuge. CTH is. AT is. Ace is. Vox Day is.
