The winds that on the uplands softly lie,
Grow keener where the ice is lingering still
Where the first robin on the sheltered hill
Pipes blithely to the tune, “When Spring goes by!”
Hear him again, “Spring! Spring!” He seems to cry,
Haunting the fall of the flute-throated rill,
That keeps a gentle, constant, silver thrill,
While he is restless in his ecstasy.
Ah! the soft budding of the virginal woods,
Of the frail fruit trees by the vanishing lakes:
There’s the new moon where the clear sunset floods,
A trace of dew upon the rose leaf sky;
And hark! what rapture the glad robin wakes-
“When Spring goes by; Spring! Spring! When
Spring goes by.”
When Spring Goes By

Yes, you are right Lucille.. I have never seen such support for the death of unborn as I do now.. It is sad considering birth control is free.. I feel it very selfish to conceive and murder.. My state allows late term abortion.. and I do not see many fighting it here..

From the article: Paragraph 4: “The AP reports about a dozen students traveled from the University of Idaho to the capital to lobby for the Planned Parenthood abortion chain on Monday.”
Paragraph 13: “A Planned Parenthood spokesperson said the students were not there to push an abortion agenda.”
I can pretty much gar-uhn-tee that they were not there to talk about decreasing PP funding. So which is it, AP? And why is this guy in trouble for speaking the truth?

I’d wager not a one of those young people knows what PP’s bank account holds (rolling in so much dough PP would never need to charge for their death service) or how much their God replacement, Cecile Richards, makes per year in salary and benefits (and just why is she resigning anyway since she loves her work so much?).

Butterick has always been my favorite, but I haven’t made my own clothes for a while now. Just do home sewing! I did make matching reversible fleece capes for my daughter and I a few years ago, but that’s simple stuff that isn’t really fitted. I used to make clothes for the boys when they were little, but that is long ago now.

When we did sewing in Homemaking class, I finished the assigned dress & apron in 2 weeks of classes & was allowed to bring in whatever I wanted to sew for the rest of the semester. Moved on to stuffed animals, bedspreads & curtains & even stuffed & upholstered furtniture. Really haven’t sewn much in 15 years, but have some of the last things I cut out ready to go.

we do know the answer to why this student was never flagged by law enforcement on the school side, SD has had the answer to that one for a very long time: he’s a minority student, and the school didn’t want him to get in trouble.
Demolish the school? Well, golly, ain’t that convenient. I hadn’t heard that yet. Not only do we get all these children crying to the Florida government about needing gun control, the school gets a new building out of the deal.

There’s so much wrong with this situation, I don’t know where to start. Like the fact that this is Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s district and that the sheriff is great buds with the Clintons. Along with the kid having a connection to MoveOn.org. This whole thing smells something awful.
LikeLike
My thoughts;
The student walkouts, the “we don’t want to ban your guns we just want the killing of children to stop”, the no one needs a clip that holds more than one bullet, the razing of the school, the constant parade of wide eyed children from the school demanding that President Trump save them, the “this is the final straw” response, all of it was prepared before Cruz shot his first bullet, that is what is so odd about all of it.
Cruz himself is way too unbalance to have been part of any conspiracy he is simply the convenient catalyst for putting the Clinton/Obama crew attack President Trump and guns plan into place.
There will always be the next school shooting. Today we can say the same thing there will be another school shooting. That is the reality of life. The democrats were not ready to protect children from the latest one but they were ready with a systematic plan to blame the gun and President Trump when this shooting happened.
The democrats have taken the words of Rahm Emanual “Never let a good crisis go to waste” to the next level. They prepared their response for this shooting well in advance. They prepared their war against conscientious legally armed citizens and President Trump while eagerly awaiting for a shooting to happen.
The tell?
How many times did anyone ever blame President Barack Hussein Obama for any gun violence?
How many times did a unified body of students say “This is the final straw” what are you going to do to save us President Obama?
How many times was there video of a prop child rehearsing his lines and being coached by CNN when Barack Hussein Obama was president ?
How many times did students hold Anti-Second Amendment protests after a school shooting when Barack Hussein Obama was president ?
How many times did students plan a walk out of school day to show their hatred of guns when Barack Hussein Obama was president ?
How many times have students who were hours away from the most horrific event in their lives speak in whole full sentences to the press about legislation when Barack Hussein Obama was president ?
How many times have students been photographed laughing it up after giving an interview about seeing their friends slaughtered and fearing for their own lives when Barack Hussein Obama was president ?
A big tell, personally I think the biggest, is that this is a well prepared coordinated response is that I don’t believe that Cruz is Latino. Maybe he is, but he certainly doesn’t look Latino. He was adopted at birth so he has his adopted parents last name. So why aren’t we are hearing the MSM shout from the rooftops that Cruz is Nikolas’ adopted last name, that he is a white boy who was raised by good honest and hard working Latino parents and still became a mass murderer.
The only reason no one is talking about this is that they do not know how to fit it into their preordained response. Sucks to be an *sshole.
No doubt about it, the powers that be were simply waiting for this school shooting.
Their preordained response was to attack guns while simultaneously attacking and blaming President Trump and to use unwitting traumatized children as their pawns.
And so it goes.
The Left is nefarious, they have not shed a single tear for the dead children, the wounded children, the traumatized children, or any of the people directly affected by this horror, instead the Left rejoices in the opportunity that a mentally ill violent young man has laid at their feet.
What’s more the Left knows it is a foul malicious law breaking opportunist group of vile malefactors.

That is the million dollar question. I wish the poster on Twitter had provided some links on all of the things he’s saying happened because of this can be proven, it’s a bombshell. One the media will never touch, but still, a bombshell. I don’t want to get carried away, though, without evidence. Devolving until one sounds like a wacky conspiracy theorist doesn’t help at all.
——–
Honestly, I’m pretty sick of watching the same song and dance over and over after a school shooting. “If only they’re hadn’t been guns this would never have happened.” Yeah Cain killed Abel without a gun, so please tell me more about how taking away guns changes the human heart. I’ll wait.
I’m really tired of this. These politicians wanna stop school shootings? Arm everyone. Arm teachers, administrators, students who are lawfully permitted to carry and have been proven to be responsible (those ROTC cadets in the school should have been allowed to carry, IMO), arm everyone down to the janitors, and watch the number of school shootings drop. But these people don’t want to stop school shooting or schools wouldn’t be gun-free zones. What are the lives of a few students when you’re trying to bend public will for what you view as the “Greater Good”?
No one shoots up an NRA event. It doesn’t happen, because even with the shooters that I’m supposed to believe are “insane” and “lacked capacity to make sound decisions” they still don’t shoot at hard targets. There’s too much of a risk of someone shooting back. Look how fast that coward shooting up a church full of unarmed people in Texas turned tail and ran when the NRA instructor showed up with his gun. It’s all fun and games picking off the unarmed sheep until an armed sheepdog shows up.
We need more people to be sheepdogs, and fewer people who are mindlessly willing to be sheep.

Thankfully President Trump agrees with you and is in the position to make real changes and is willing to do so. He is the first president in my memory who has an actual emotional connection to his children and doesn’t see them as a means to an end. President Trump was unvarnished in this round table chat and he is pissed. He won’t settle for platitudes or political points, children should no longer be fish in a barrel while sitting in their schools.
What are the lives of a few students when you’re trying to bend public will for what you view as the “Greater Good”?
I’m sure you know this but the only ones who want to make guns disappear for “the greater good” are the lambs who believe their shepherd (One World Globalists) really has their best interests at heart. Their shepherd meanwhile is preparing lamb recipes and chuckling. The elite one world globalists do nothing for the greater good, every single thing they do, they do to further their wealth and or power, and they do it with a fully informed consciousness and conscience.
No one shoots up an NRA event. It doesn’t happen, because even with the shooters that I’m supposed to believe are “insane” and “lacked capacity to make sound decisions” they still don’t shoot at hard targets.
This is a very salient point. Even the legally insane choose soft targets. Andrea Yates did not drown all her children in the tub when her husband was home and she did not wait until her mother in law arrived to kill her children. Even the insane recognize their window of opportunity and utilize it. No window means no opportunity.
The world will never be perfect but it certainly can be safer for children in their classrooms.

Monica Showalter at AT does a good job providing context for the life of Billy Graham in the wake of WaPo’s attacks on his life.

“Seriously? This is the man who once asked believers that if Christianity were illegal, would there be enough evidence to convict you?
“Someone who had the grace to say things like this?
” ‘Someone asked me recently if I didn’t think God was unfair, allowing me to have Parkinson’s and other medical problems when I have tried to serve him faithfully. I replied that I did not see it that way at all. Suffering is part of the human condition, and it comes to us all. The key is how we react to it, either turning away from God in anger and bitterness or growing closer to him in trust and confidence.’ “

Isaiah 5:20 comes to mind. “Woe to him who call evil good and good evil…”
Pastor Graham was a good and decent man. The fact that leftists are trying to discredit his legacy doesn’t surprise me. It’s more important than ever that believers are the salt and light for the world.

His words were vivid evidences of God’s graces at work in our lives, for those few of us who actually do manage to give in and let God work.
Me, I’m not somvery good at that, but I can recognize it, and see what could be.
As for the WAPO, I’m just convinved that evil must attack grace. It’s just what they do when one belonging to God starts to look good to people.

Shooting Survivor: CNN Gave Me “Scripted Question” After Denying Question About Armed Guards
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/02/22/shooting_survivor_colton_haab_cnn_gave_me_scripted_question_after_denying_question_about_armed_guards.html
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night’s town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a “scripted question,” quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards. (CNN response below.)
“CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted,” Haab told WPLG-TV.
CNN aired a town hall on the Florida school shooting with Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) that included NRA’s Dana Loesch and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel that was moderated by Jake Tapper. Students and parents asked questions about gun control and school safety.
“I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions,” Haab said.
“Colton Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC who shielded classmates in the midst of terror says he did not get to share his experience,” WPLG’s Janine Stanwood explained.
“Colton wrote questions about school safety, suggested using veterans as armed school security guards but claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead so he decided not to go,” Stanwood reported.
CNN responded:
There is absolutely no truth to this. CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night’s town hall, nor have we ever. After seeing an interview with Colton Haab, we invited him to participate in our town hall along with other students and administrators from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Colton’s father withdrew his name from participation before the forum began, which we regretted but respected. We welcome Colton to join us on CNN today to discuss his views on school safety.

Interesting.
I doubt that Colton Haab made up his original statements. I doubt it very much.
However – I am always a little weirded out by presentations suggesting that those who were just highly victimized and traumatized should be advisers and policy sources. That just doesn’t make sense. Makes no more sense than Hillary’s listening tours.
During the 12 years our son was LEO, we talked about this with him – that if he was killed in the line of duty we would not make ourselves available for any kind of public conversation. Makes no sense at all although I guess it figures that if those who are actually responsible can’t manage, then those who don’t have the responsibility can be used to fill the gap. Colton’s “views on school safety” should not in the news today or any other day.
Everything is upside down.

Weather in my neighborhood!
Grand Slam? Detroit breaks FOUR weather records in one day
https://www.clickondetroit.com/weather/grand-slam-detroit-breaks-four-weather-records-in-one-day
DETROIT – In my thirty-five years working here at Local 4, this is a first. We set four different weather records on Tuesday.
Keep in mind that, from a temperature standpoint, there are six different records possible on any given calendar day. We have our record highest temperature, our record warmest low temperature, our record warmest average temperature for the day (high plus low, divided by two), our record coldest high temperature, our record lowest temperature, and our record average temperature for the day.
We also have two precipitation records: snow, and total precipitation…which is rainfall and / or the melted liquid equivalent of any snow that falls.
Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 will go down as one of the most noteworthy weather days, statistically, in Detroit weather history — and that history officially dates back into the 1870s. On this single day, we set the following four records:
High Temperature: 65° (previous record was 63° in 2016)
Warmest Low Temperature: 49° (previous record was 47° in 1930)
Highest Average Temperature: 57° (previous record was 54° in 1930)
Most Precipitation: 1.10” (previous record was 1.07” in 1891)
Most of the metro area received two-to-three inches of rain since Monday, and a lot of people have been asking me how much snow that would have been if it was colder. This amount of water would have generated two feet or more of snow!

Wow – wild times!
I talked with my Denver son last night – he said it was 69 degrees (F) a couple of days, and the next morning it was 9 below, so that was quite a jolt, too!
My yard is snow-covered again this morning with a bite in the air, but the sun is shining. The snow will be mostly gone by noon, I think. I suppose they got more up in Portland. According to the weather forecasts from local stations the last few days, 17 feet were predicted, followed by the end of the world. So put your chains on.
A year ago we did have a real winter pattern here, with repeated storms and heavy snowfall – they did well, considering the lack of experience, but it wasn’t pretty! However, it did persuade them that putting salt on the roads along with the de-icer stuff would not immediately melt all the state highways, so they’ve done a little better this year on that. That is needed because the temps ranging from mid-20s to 40s, day after day create that mess of melting and freezing, ice in expected and unexpected places, and that is a problem anywhere.

We have already had a lot of snow this year, but it is all melted at the moment. I’m sure winter isn’t done with us yet, but we will be above freezing every day for the next week, if the forecast can believed!

7 Terrible Liberal Gun Control Arguments … And How To Beat Them
https://townhall.com/columnists/kurtschlichter/2018/02/22/7-terrible-liberal-gun-control-arguments–and-how-to-beat-them-n2451718?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad
I argue for a living. I often deal with hacks, liars, and agenda-driven fanatics. But never in a quarter century of being in court rooms have I faced such a blizzard of constitutional illiteracy, technical ignorance, flabby reasoning, and outright lies as I have dealing with people who think our Second Amendment rights are up for debate.
Our rights are not up for debate. But, as a courtesy, because talking is the way a free people should endeavor to solve problems, we should debate them anyway. Rational discussion beats the alternative – many of us are vets who saw the alternative overseas – even if the other side prefers emotional blackmail using articulate infants to bum rush their anti-civil rights policies. So, here are seven (it could have been 50) of the most annoying – and dishonest – arguments you will hear, and how you can fight them.
Excellent article. I suggest bookmarking it for future reference.

I love President Trump, he basically just said “You want to play games with the death of American children?”
Hold my nonalcoholic beverage.
Let’s talk about the illegal alien Mexicans who are cutting and stabbing Americans to death, they’re not using guns because they want to cause more pain.
And President Trump is talking about institutionalizing the violently mentally ill.
Go to bed Team Clinton.

President Trump is angry, he just told Devos her idea was stupid and he didn’t like it. He is sitting there with his arms crossed saying there is one solution, harden the schools. Give teachers the right and training to carry and shoot bullets right through the steel doors so that a shooter can be killed before he enters the school building.

Hallelujah! Someone tells the truth!
This stuff will never stop until it becomes clear to people that they might walk onto a school campus with the intention of shooting the place up, but that they’ll leave in a body bag if they do.

I noticed that too. He actually turned his back on DeVos and the other woman who spoke just after her.

Yeah, I just saw that when “Active Shooter drills” was mentioned and he spoke right up and interrupted and said he didn’t like that. He felt that was scaring the little kids.

I love the idea of simple and sophisticated, but I like stuff…the more, the better. LOL!
My maternal grandmother decorated her home simply, nothing superfluous. I remember it well…an armless couch (divan) of a heavy green material; a wood coffee table which held a Japanese-style dried flower arrangement; a wood magazine rack next to the couch; several comfortable chairs and a wood rocking chair; a large radio which stood as a focus of the room, much like their television did in later years; a tall rubber tree plant in one corner; French doors which went into a den; heavy draperies of off-white and green leaf design. The fireplace mantel contained an antique rectangle China tray and an Asian figurine of some kind.
She would have taken one look at my home and done a double-take…but then she would have smiled and enjoyed my enjoyment of the many “things” sitting about and stuffed in display cabinets. A very gifted and good woman who loved to laugh, who dressed with sophistication and style, wearing understated fur coats and hats, and had a huge selection of beautiful cloth and leather gloves. What a treasure she was.

Lovely,
This is why I hate all these “support” animals, they’re not properly trained like service animals are. This is a dog biting a child and we all know no matter how hard we try to teach a child not to approach an animal and no matter how well we’re watching a young child sometimes it only takes a split second for them to get away from us and animals are a magnet for children.
I love dogs, but I love my dogs at my house and in my yard. I don’t want to eat in a restaurant with another person’s dog, I don’t want to be in a store and having another person’s dog jumping on me or biting my grandbabies and I don’t want to fly with another person’s dog. A properly trained service dog will sit and ignore people, a “support” dog more often than not has no training and just has a vest strapped on it’s back that you can buy online.
You already know how ridiculous I think a “support” or “therapy” goat is.

Poor little girl,
Southwest said in a statement, “initial reports indicate a support dog’s teeth scraped a child’s forehead as the young passenger approached the animal, causing a minor injury.”
News flash SWA that is called a dog bite. No puncture wounds doesn’t mean it is not a bite.
It’s obvious that many people are abusing the fact that some people need service animals to function.
People also use “support” animals to get around capacity laws. A house in a city neighborhood is not the place for 5 large dogs.

Apparently these days it’s good for 5 large dogs, a flock of chickens, herd of goats and a cow or two.
The thing about the little girl is if it broke her skin more than likely she will have to take rabies shots regardless of whether the dog had it’s shot or not. Most doctors do that out of precaution because the closer to the brain the faster rabies can reach the brain. If I was the parents I would demand the dog be quarantined regardless and make the owner pay for the cost to keep it at a vet’s for two weeks.

I didn’t know that they give rabies shots to people even if the dog has been vaccinated.
I took my little Iggy to a PetCo once when she was a puppy. I made the mistake of letting a Soccer mom’s 3 year old pet her. My Iggy had sharp puppy teeth. Like needles. She opened her mouth and licked the little boys hand. I didn’t see any teeth suddenly the little boy is crying that she bit him.
Absolutely no sign of any mark on his hand, the mother is glaring at me and holding her small boy as if he just had an amputation and saying “It’s ok! You’ll be ok!”
I walked away and never brought any dog back to a dog friendly store.
I agree whoever shot the goat is a POS. I suspect the owners angered a self righteous customer.

That’s what they told my SIL when he got bit by a dog. They said it doesn’t matter if the dog has had it rabies vaccine or not it still has to be quarantined. If LE or Animal Control agrees to come make daily checks on the dog and the people have a secure area to keep the dog it can be quarantined there but otherwise it has to be at a vet or if the person bit requests it to be quarantined at the vet.
They said because it was his leg they could wait the quarantine time, if it had been on his face or head then he would have to start the shots.

I think this is the same place who had a 900 person waiting list to have goats climb and jump on their back while doing yoga.
The person who shot the goat is a POS, but it’s never a smart idea imho to open your farm up to anyone and everyone, especially for something like goat yoga. I can only imagine that is going to attract some nut jobs to your farm.
We are very careful about who we allow to come to our farm. Then we put whatever they’re wanting to buy in a certain area for them to look at. If you sound like a nut on the phone or like someone who might chop my head off, I’m not going to be available to show you an animal.

I assume it is Leftist who want to do yoga with goats, Leftists are the angriest meanest people if things don’t go their way. Just look at how PETA abuses and uses animals.

I think so as well. There are a lot of farms these days or hobby farms as they call them that are owned by lefties.

I made a recipe called Rigatoni with Roman Broccoli Sauce tonight for dinner. It is vegetarian and it’s delicious! Not vegan, because it contains cheese. Seasoned with garlic, capers, lemon zest, pepper flakes and salt. Also contains baby spinach (more for color than flavor). Only thing I would say is that it calls for too much salt. Other than that, it’s a winner.

Sounds very good. We had the cabbage rolls, cooked yesterday. Tonight sautéed in olive oil, served with sour cream. I said they were too much trouble and I wouldn’t make them again. They were so good that I might change my mind. Even the not crazy about cabbage husband liked them.

Sun’s down, got a crystal clear glow-in-the-dark sky with 74 degrees and low humidity. Light brteeze out of the south making white noise in the pines, geese honking as they cloese in on the lake. One frog tuning up for the late night show, first purple martin discussing moving in. Glass of wine, cat in the lap and two dogs on the now green grass (overnight) chewing on bones. Great way to end the day.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

If the same had happened in Florida people would still be alive today.
