Taste of salt upon my lips,
The boom sound of waves
Pushing their weight against the rocks,
White foam flying,
Wet sand sinking beneath my feet
And white gulls crying.
Seaweed scalloping the shore
Amid shells and creatures from
The sea’s full store and
Motion, never-ending motion.
That is the sea.

I love that! I have a fascination with glass, all kinds of it. From glass washed by the sea to bubbly seeded glass and the wavy panes of old windows, stained glass in cathedrals and Murano glass in works of art, I love it.
I think my favorite is the seeded crackled glass vases you find in old homes antique stores.
If I ever win the lottery and build a very nice home, they will have glorious windows. Indeed, the windows and doors will be the best of the house. No weird shapes or anything fancy, just classic, tall windows and doors of the very best quality.
If I ever were to buy a very old house with original glass in it, I’d freeze to death because I would never replace it.

I went googling for the L-shaped house I lived in from 1st grade through 4th. The street numbering had changed, but I recalled the approximate location and how far it was from the main road intersection. What clinched it for me was seeing one of the houses with the 8 foot horizontal plate glass window my father had put into the kitchen. Mom used to have us girls lie down on the counter next to the sink so she could wash our hair, and I remember the sun shining in on me as I lay there.

If you want a large and functioning window, this is the one you want. I prefer the look of old double hung windows, especially those with vertical 2/2 panes, like you see in old farmhouses. But for ventilation, for performance, these really high dollar babies are the stuff.
They really look like large casement windows, but I see that Marvin now makes an immitation double hung look.

Here is a short, but excellent answer to the often asked question about the youth of Jesus, and why we don’t know more. Maybe the not knowing more is the whole point?

Thanks, Menagerie! I very much liked the answer when it comes to silence and the necessity of it. “Be still and know that I AM GOD!”
Not meaning to offend anyone, but my observation is that many Protestant and Evangelical churches today have lost that beautiful attitude of worshipful silence. Not so with Catholic or Orthodox churches.
What an opportunity is missed in not practicing silence in a place of worship and communing with the Lord instead.

You know there isn’t going to be any silence for reflection when they drag out the drums, electric guitar, and speakers. 🙄 I have found that to be a problem for me.

On the proposed Military Parade:
Cultures honor their heroes. Look how the Left assaults all old holidays and replaces them with their own. Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Lincoln & Washington’s Birthdays, the 4th of July and even Halloween – all under assault. Even veterans & memorial days, the pledge of allegiance. Meanwhile Kwanza, Black History Month, May Day, Equality Day, Ramadan rise. Plus the left has award shows, Nobel & Pulitzer prizes and many ways of honoring and protecting their ideological & cultural soldiers.
Cultures recruit by claiming cultural spaces.
The left will squeal. Pussy hats are good, but the military is bad. Parades with Mexican flags, gay pride flags, Antifa flags, even Palestinian and ISIS flags are all ok. Protesting the US flag is awesome.
Get it? It’s not about Trump or Militarism. It’s about reclaiming the USA, it’s symbols, holidays and culture.
It’s a battle vs Marxist Critical Theory. It’s recruiting. It’s honoring our own.

I find this dustup fascinating. Mainly because what most panics the hard left isn’t policy. It’s that they’ve methodically and systematically coaxed the culture into s guilt trip for 60 years, trying to shame the country into acquiescence to egalitarian ideas, and then Trump in like a bull in a china shop and says, “Flaunt it, baby!” totally undoing decades of propaganda and shaming in about ten seconds flat. That alone has them in a complete panic. Their tirades and tantrums of “racist sexist homophobe xenophobe” sound like a panicked attempt to try and claw it all back. But it’s not coming back. It’s not working anymore. Because it never really did. And they are depressed to a point of utter despair and cannot accept their reality.

I am listening to Jeff Kuhner as I am trying to get some work done, but I am almost in tears. JK (a historian before a talk show host) is talking about Pelosi saying how wonderful it is her fair skinned, blue eyed grandson wished for his 5th or 6th birthday he had brown hair and eyes like his Guatemalan friend. In the audio clip Pelosi scoffed, almost spit, when she said her grandson was on the ‘other side’ part english and irish, then she said also italian.
This is child abuse!!! My dear God why would you train a child to hate his very basic self! The progs happily sacrifice their own children! I am very upset, and feel awful for this little boy.
I’m guessing she herself never got over being born of italian descent with brown hair, brown eyes, and the derogatory comments of others for years. I also had to live with all the derogatory comments about being of partial italian descent. Almost all of us were bullied at some point, but we got over it. We did not psychologically abuse our and others’ children!
Please pray for all the little children of these horrid people, and the children who are exposed to them through the brainwashing of common core.
The only good thing about this is the majority of normal people are seeing how mentally sick these people are.
I will NEVER APOLOGIZE for how God made me, nor will I psychologically abuse a child for how God made them!

I’m glad Gov. Huckabee brought this forward now. It illustrates the futility of Congressional action when dealing with lawless individuals. No matter what “the law” says, at some point there has to be real life, visible, illustrative consequences for lawbreakers. Unless there is, lawful processes will not result in law and order.

“Bora Bora, French Polynesia Pahia and Otemanu. A barrier reef protects the shallow turquoise lagoon surrounding the Pacific islands of Bora Bora, where the extinct volcanic peak of Mount Otemanu juts into the sky.” That’s the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC caption for your photo, Stella.
I’ve loved Bora Bora since seeing a similar photo in a NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC edition my father’s stepmother gave my sister and me probably around 1954. She had a room where she kept great stacks of all kinds of magazines–LOOK, LIFE, THE SATURDAY EVENING POST, TIME, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC among them. My sister and I would also go to thrift shops and pick up NATIONAL GEOGRAPHICs from the 1920s, 30s, 40s. The vintage ads of bathrooms, kitchens, and cars were great fun to view also.

I was afraid, when they reached out to me, to act on it. That’s why the poem on Tuesday mattered so much to me, stella. It asked, in what felt was a non-confrontational way, why I was so afraid, and pointed out that God cares for me and owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and in light of that, surely He has good in store for me.
It was exactly what I needed to see that day to get me to act on the things I needed to act on.

So I was surfing the internet tonight and came across this lady who raises goats in Missouri. Reading her “about” page she had a dream to raise goats, chickens and fruit and vegetables in her back yard. So she made her dream a reality and now raises goats, chickens, herbs, fruit and vegetables on her 1/3 acre in town. She sells goat kids and chicks.
I bet her neighbors love smelling her buck during breeding season, trust me you never want to be downwind from a buck in rut. I bet they love getting woke up with her rooster alarm clock.
I’m one who believes in live and let live, but come on you live in town and not on enough land to properly raise goats.
It’s one thing when a person moves to the country and complains about farm animals, it’s another to move into town with a herd of goats and a flock of chickens.

In New Orleans you can have fowl in your (sometimes tiny) yard, & you know they don’t stay in a yard very well. Our Vietnamese neighbors raised guinea fowl one year: they were cute, made pleasant “ping noises”, & visited sometimes, but disappeared into the great unknown pretty quickly. Thank the ungulate gods they did not go for goats or pigs.

I think guineas are the most annoying birds in the world. We have them, but I’d be fine if they all went away.
I do believe somebody out here somewhere keeps getting them and they keep finding us because about once a week when feeding in the morning we notice they’ve multiplied again. We didn’t have any white guineas but this morning we had 3.
