Thx. I didn’t have time to watch this when it was posted by someone on the daily. The positive train control was supposed to have been installed by 2015. Wonder how they got the extension? Like I don’t know.

I hope I heard him wrong. Millions of dollars invested and then this tragedy for new tracks that save a measly 10 minutes?!

That “10 minutes” jumped right out at me when I watched the vid. Juan always corrects himself when he previews his vids. So if he hasn’t corrected it, 10 minutes is accurate.
Washington state was told by many outside of the government that the new route wasn’t necessary. Now families have to deal with deaths of loved ones for something that wasn’t even needed. Ugly and horrible and neglectful and corrupt.

If you read the comments, there is more to it than just a 10 minute time improvement. The other route is prone to mud slides, and this route is an alternate.
ADD: Now I can’t find the comment! Also problem, apparently, with single track bottleneck tunnels on the old route.
