This is a bit off topic, or maybe not. I don’t know. I’ve been trying to figure out if there is going to be, or if there is, an actual budget (in Congress) for the next FY. I thought all the major appropriations were fought out during the fall, and I haven’t heard anything about it. At least nothing I recognized – maybe it’s just my problem.
The bureaucrats who have been stuff into the guts of all the agencies for the last 15-20 years are, for the most part, still there. And like a child having a tantrum in the store, expressed mostly by going limp and being a dead weight on mom, who is now pretty much helpless in her efforts to improve the situation–in the matter of having an actual budget or not having an actual budget, it just takes enough bureaucrats and MBO future pensioners to become dead weight. They haven’t been doing their jobs as individuals or as a group for over a decade. That becomes a hard pump to prime.
Maybe it is happening and I just can’t figure out what to notice.
I get so tired of the constant cheering and short-range reaction when some single thing goes week. Obviously that does not mean that there is nothing effective happening but the alligators are still there and the virus has not been eliminated. It’s not safe to assume otherwise.
The power of belief can be over-applied by conservative as well as it can with leftists.

Sharon, they passed a continuing resolution that goes to the end of the year. They still have to pass the new budget.

I thought they had done something. Do you see things turning in such a way that you believe they will actually pass a budget to send to Trump?

I certainly hope so.

Your question got me digging this morning. Apparently both the House and Senate passed the 2018 fiscal year budget in October. I don’t know if any further votes will take place, but I don’t think so. Here’s an article from The Hill:

Apparently not. We are still living under the 2-week spending bill:

The White House and lawmakers say the bill will give them more time to negotiate several end-of-year agenda items, including the budget, a children’s health program and hurricane aid.

In other words, the bill still isn’t final. They have 8 days until the short continuing resolution expires.
