I can ‘smell’ that snow and feel the squeaky crunch of it under foot. Used to get in a lot of deer hunts out west in snow…now I just wear short sleeves and sit on the patio with a drink. Deer comes, good; deer doesn’t come that’s good too. I got beef, chicken and pork in the freezer, venison can wait while I pour another one.

Lucille, that is exactly the chapter I opened my Bible to this morning. As I soaked in those familiar words , I took note of the first word of the second verse (NKJV), “Therefore…….”
The therefores are so important, indicating that what follows is dependent on what preceded.
THEREFORE we will not fear…..dependent on making God my refuge, the place I hide – not “hide” as in running from life, but “hide in” because He is proven to be a safe and tested place to take refuge…..and He has invited me.

One year we took the grandson to see it in 3-D. It was great – but not nearly as great as watching it cuddled under a blanket in our PJs.

Once, I saw 6 supervisors in the Lab where I worked all standing around with their arms crossed watching a partner in the company change a light bulb. I asked one of them (mine) it looked like an old joke, “How many Dental Technicians does it take to change a light bulb”? Apparently 7. One to change the light bulb and 6 “watch and learn”! Sheesh!

Sewerage and Water Board and Levee Board workers used to hide in the area in back of our house, outside the fence on the levee. They’d park their trucks and spend hours drinking coffee, eating, BSing, all that good stuff, as there were two huge banana groves on our and our neighbor’s fence. We killed off the bananas leaving a clear view down the levee from the main road and never saw any of them again.

Starting to look like anywhere else in the US, architecture is Neo-Cookie Cutter as is food. Yeah, we have ‘gourmet’ food but much of it’s Neo-NOLA which means something with a purple, green and gold accent.
Went to Chalmette to eat at Rocky & Carlos but forgot they were dark on Monday so went up Paris Road to a new place that used to be an old place I ate at. Now owned by a Vietnamese guy and serves Vietnamese-NOLA blue collar fusion Super chicken wing teriyaki with mildly spicy rice (loaded with shrimp) and rice noodles with a mild sauce and loaded with shrimp. Czarina had a chowmeinish main with mac and cheese sauce…loaded with shrimp and gumbo. Total for meals was about $15 and servings were huge.
Owner is a younger guy from Saigon (he heard about Tet ’68 in school) and we talked places in Saigon. He escaped and came to the US and started a restaurant and a family, both his young sons were working there, both are well-spoken with a very genuine and polite demeanor towards patrons. Walls of the place have patriotic US posters on them and TVs are tuned to Fox News.
We’ll go back to NOLA, couple of brew pubs we want to try, probably over to John Folce’s place for Cajun and Commander’s for classic creole – neither eaterie places garlands of organic, non-GMP, fair trade sustainable arugula on their plates.

Morning, lovely! Somehow I feel like so many pay attention to Trump that in-person campaigning may be redundant to his tweets and other forms of support of Moore may be redundant. That he supports Moore has been made pretty clear; I’ll be very surprised if Moore doesn’t widen the margin with Trump’s backing when the voters get to the polls.

I saw this on FOX and FRIENDS this morning.The Birth Haven is a shelter for pregnant girls who want to carry the baby to term. They can stay there until about 6 or 8 weeks after the birth and can put in for an extension after that. They decided not to have a gala for a fundraiser this year and to do an online fundraiser because they said about 50% of the money from a gala goes to funding the gala. So, this fundraiser is called the Twelve Days of Hope. Their website is
