I think that’s US 41, which extends the length of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Copper Harbor is at the tip of the peninsula, which sticks out into Lake Superior.

At 22:13 a man presents some memorabilia from his great grandmother, Dr. Bessica Raiche. She fell in love with flying as a passenger in 1908. After that first flight, she left her medical practice and began constructing a plane along with her husband. In 1910 she became the first female aviator to fly solo.

Have you ever encountered one of those Facebook posts where they accuse whites of stealing history and list all the ancient people who were black? Cleopatra is one I remember. There’s a whole bunch of them. Basically, if it took place on the continent of Africa, the people were black Africans according to them. We whites stole their history and heritage.

It’s like that with almost everything. Once the people pass away that lived through an event, the event can be turned into whatever. Racial socialism was another get rich scheme like all the other socialism branches have been from the beginning.
If you Google search on the topic, it goes on about how they weren’t really black or white and how it was rich people that made the distinction of color to keep poor people in their place.

Any of those “reclaimed history” sites are unhealthy to the mind and spirit. Macedonian Greeks were olive skinned but the revisionists espouse the belief Cleopatra was dark-skinned with lower African-continent tribal facial features. Apparently American black “historians” were the ones who started this whole pack of lies.
They also claim Beethoven, Jesus Christ, ancient Israelites (thus indicating all present-day Jews are usurpers–I’ve run into that meme at CTH on occasion!!!), Mesopotamians and just about anyone living near or on the African continent. No use arguing with the brainwashed…their hate is virulent.
BTW, ancient Egyptians didn’t think in terms of “race” as no one did at that time. They thought in terms of culture and tribal groups. There is some evidence that parts of Egyptian culture moved from south to north over thousands of years and morphed into what we think of as ancient Egyptian culture.
Egyptians considered themselves superior to all other peoples because of their culture, not their skin color. They were fine with incorporating into their ranks members of other tribes which may have had darker skin as long as those people opted into Egyptian culture. The ruling classes married other tribal groups as part of diplomacy and peace treaties. You only have to look at their wall paintings/sculptures to see the color differences between them and some of their wives and their war captives.
No one living today is completely one ethnicity. We’re all a mixed bag because of ancient migrations and intermarriage. So “racism” is ridiculous. Culture, though, is still the main sticking point. If you really look at it, everything still boils down to culture and how that influences everyone either for good or ill.

Happy Saturday everyone. Almost all our leaves have fallen with the exception of one bright and beautiful one with yellow trees just outside the bedroom window.
Now it’s time to blow leaves off the driveway because when the get wet and compressed it is a mess. Especially in the dark, hard to see the ditches.

Can’t access ually see the road from the porch, even in winter. The only people who ever come up the driveway are family. Most of them I don’t want stuck.

Yeah, he was pretty full of energy when they took him out. Ideally, it’s better to wear him out a bit in the fenced in yard before attempting a leash walk.

Lucky’s sacked out on the couch too. Last nite BD the hound fell asleep on the far end of the couch, GGS fell asleep on her and Lucky fell asleep on him. I’m sure there are nay-sayers out there in Progland who’d have reams to convey on the inadvisability of that but, if they rode in on a horse…

We’ve taken to tossing a few cow knee bones out in the yard, tossing them out right behind the bones and getting them back in after a cup of coffee or two.

I’ve tried cow hooves and bully sticks. They give him diarrhea and sometimes vomit. I’ll pass for now on bones and other animal parts.

Raw cow bones or cooked? I don’t like the chews as after the Chinese incident I find I’m not sure of what’s in ’em. Sure they eat things found prone on the ground but at least the deceased weren’t done in in some Chinese plant.
I like the big bones as they can’t really eat them as quickly, they like to run around and play ‘mine-mine-mine’. I’ve found if they eat ’em too quickly they get constipated which means out comes the mineral oil and gravy followed by the unpleasants…it’s becomes a cycle.

I give them a dose of raw pumpkin and it usually takes out the intestinal plug….

Yeah, I’ve used the pumpkin but getting them to eat it was the issue, by the time I’d sugar and creamed it I was close enough to pie filling to eat it myself. I found mineral oil and cheap Wally World gravy in a can was the trick, either way it all came out in the end.

I feed mine plain cooked oatmeal. All my dogs seemed to love it. I had two labs who ate rocks. That helped to move things along without making the poo sloppy.

Ran outta space. I’ve found that big cow bones from the butcher can be cooked down for stock then given to the dogs for toys. The bigger they are the longer they last and the harder it is for them to easily eat them.

Agin’ outta space – I’m talking BIG bones, cow knees, femurs, like that. Boiled down for the marrow, not roasted, you’d need a hammer to splinter them. Only reason I cook them down is I like then broth and they’re less likely to attract buzzards.

I can’t give mine cooked bones at all….they will absolutely crack and splinter any hard bone like that…I give rawhide or butcher fresh uncooked bones only….right now they are working on big chunks of Elk Antler, which smells like crap when they chew it…but it is way too thick to crack ever….even if you smacked it with a 16 lb sledge….

Two are too old to be that chewy, one to small and Lucky just wants to carry one around and play ‘keep away’. Zauber used to chew and crush cow femurs, sorta made me glad he was friendly.

I went out today, and spied at the corner of the lawn of the lady across the street, a big scull! I think it’s a cow! I called her (she was very sick with flu) and asked if it was a decoration, or what. She laughed and said she doesn’t know where it came from, must be a neighbours dog. It’s too big for her kitties to have brought home. I said I was thinking maybe she was a Georgia O’Keefe fan, but eeeewwww. Bless her, she asked if my DH would do her the favor of disposing of it as she is on her own, and really grossed out! He has a day off tomorrow, but I sure hope he doesn’t mind that I’ve lent him out for a neighborly errand, lol. It’s liable to disappear in the night with all of the wildlife we have around here!

Yeah, like I posted before, Daisy found a loooooong dead garfish head – a BIG one – and squirreled it away when she wasn’t carrying it around and gnawing on it. I can’t figure out how an animal with 400 times our sense of smell can take it.

Watching a story on the local CBS affiliate on the Sufi mosque that was attacked in the Sinai yesterday. Despite Egyptian reports that it was ISIS and is attacking their encampments with airstrikes (why not before), despite the local ISIS commander openly saying they were going to eradicate all Sufis in the province, despite ISIS saying they considered the Sufi Moslem heretics, despite survivors saying that the attackers carried ISIS black flags, despite Obama not making a public announcement blaming the attack on conservative/white/Southern/gun-nut/Republicans…the report would not say ‘Moslem’ or ‘terrorists’.
They went to great lengths to classify them as ‘militants’ without mentioning or discussing religion, not even Moslen at all, just ‘mosque’. As it’s doubtful that a mosque in the middle of the Sinai desert would be packed with visiting Southern Baptists or hosting a Jehovah’s Witness meeting I guess we’re supposed to just assume the mosque was packed with Moslems.
They also didn’t mention that this was a large and well prepared attack. The report said ‘gunmen’ while papers in the Mideast and Europe are full scope. The attackers used burning cars to block the roads to the mosque while attackers fired RPGs into the mosque then entered and started systematically shooting those inside. As ambulances and police responded another group of attackers ambushed them as the burning cars blocked their way. Yup, sounds like another case of senseless and random gun violence.

My son brought his just turned one year old Retriever down to run around yesterday. My husband and all three sons go shoot sporting clays on Black Friday every year. I had the dogs, and a DIL and I kept the kids.
That dog ran all day. Which is good, he needs more space. But he looked just like Tucker when he got here, and he wasn’t even on a leash. Apparently he could not believe his good fortune, and was overwhelmed by the space, and the the smells.
Later my black lab killed and ate a chipmunk, and Oscar was not allowed to share the bounty. I wish they’d kill every chipmunk that dared step on my land. When we had Katie, the alpha bitch female Golden, she never let a single one live. Have I mentioned how much I miss her?
Anyhow, I think Oscar ran himself almost out of steam, but he could go all over again if her were here today.

They have endless energy. We don’t have chipmunks here, but we do have lots of squirrels. Stella loved to chase them, but Tucker (so far) shows no interest at all. He sees them, but doesn’t care.

caught my dachs trying to down a partially chewed squirrel the Aussie cattle dog ran to the ground and then tail whipped the yard with its head until it entered the great squirrel hereafter world of nuts and cones……he smacks them and gives them to her….and she has no clue about what will actually fit down the throat and get eventually converted to poop…so I had to relieve her of the treasure….disgusting….but normal doggies….I did brag on them for their hunting and gathering skills….like they actually give a damn about bragging unless it has a treat attached somewhere……

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.
