UPDATE: Sheriff reporting that there may be 50 dead and up to 200 wounded. The woman they were seeking has been found.

Las Vegas gunman suspect is Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nevada

A gunman killed at least 20 people and wounded more than 100 at a country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday, shooting down from the 32nd floor of a hotel, where he was shot dead by police.

Police described the suspect as being a local Las Vegas man who acted alone and was not believed to be connected to any militant group, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told reporters.

The attack was the deadliest mass shooting in the United States since a gunman who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State militant group killed 49 people at an Orlando nightclub in June 2016.

“We have no idea what his belief system was,” Lombardo said. “Right now, we believe he was the sole aggressor and the scene is static.”

Authorities were seeking a woman they named as Marilou Danley, he said. He described her as Asian, 4 foot 11 inches (1.5 m) tall, 111 pounds (50 kg). He gave no details of whether she was suspected of involvement in the attack but described her as an “associate.”

Police were also searching for two cars that belonged to the suspect.

      Your wish…
I’m hearing different feeds and they are confusing. There’s no context so we can’t know how much might be echo and it sounds like a small caliber though angle and distance are unknown so….
One Twitter feed claoming to be from the scense sounds more like one of the external trigger operating devices duch as the Hellfire or GatCrank, full auto is steady andvthis feed is rhythmic with acrise and fall in rate of fire.
Regardless we as gun owners gonna be lucky to come out of this unscathed. Trimp’s gonna be hit as the MasM will play the Vegas shooting videos right next to his NRA speech.
Bottom line is the heat is on for more draconian gun control.

After reviewing multiple videos on a lot of sites, in addition to a known distance map to center stage I do have some questions.
Reports are conflicting on the number of weapons this idiot had, 10-14, what types? Calibers?
Idiot had two tripods in the room, looking at the broken glass windows, to different views are offered. Known distance from windows to center stage 1100 feet, about 360 meters elevated. For a auto fire weapon, MG crew would use cone or plunging fire, based on iron sights, an target analysis. Direct fire with bullet drop, wind, elevation could be used.
The “full auto” on some videos indicates heavy caliber weapon 7.62×51, .308. In most videos the rate of fire is 15-20 seconds, depending on magazine capacity. He may have had a drum. Most AK can be fitted with a drum 75-100 rounds. One video had gun smoke coming out of the broken windows, and inside of the hotel room, hallway was filled with gun smoke , fire alarms were activated. Now some people have commented on other shots, could be from LEO hand guns just firing to fire.
Also one must review the forensic evidence on the victims. All wound should be of a high angle.
I want to see the weapons, forensic evidence, and the view this soulless person had.
Hopefully Wooly this answers some questions you had, read those comments, and to me their just comments except the rules Col. Cooper said about gunfights……Czar concur with your thoughts. Just my thoughts, now I want too see page 2.

The tripods, don’t mean much other than offering support, guy could just be well-read. Yeah, problem with AR-10s is that it’s a light weapon and does not take well to full auto. Remember the full auto M-1? It was heavier than an AR-10 and they had to have two men to sit on it on full auto to keep it steady.
He was firing at a slant so fire would drop as gravity pulled, a hard shot in the dark and I’m betting he didn’t practice a lot accurate plunging fire. I’m also betting he was spraying and praying as he was looking for casualties and not accuracy in hits, just hosing down the area. Nuff said on that.
Yeah, drums for AKs, for AR-15s and AR-10s, you can bet Congress will revisit the magazine capacity thing again. He could have had regular 20 or 30 rounders coupled and made quick mag changes, we won’t know until we’re told what they want us to hear. I just want to know what makes a successful developer, multimillionaire and guy with no dicey record suddenly go bonkers and kill nearly 60 people. Maybe he had some mental problems but to pop like that…..
Let’s see what they feed us mushrooms.

    Dear Lord have mercy.

    From Wooly’s link ;

The witness, 21, told local news: “She had been messing with a lady in front of her and telling her she was going to die, that we were all going to die.

They escorted her out to make her stop messing around with all the other people, but none of us knew it was going to be serious.”

She described the lady as Hispanic and was escorted from the venue along with a man. The unnamed witness, who was attending the event on her 21st birthday, described the pair as short, both around 5 ft 5ins to 5ft 6ins tall, and looked like “everyday people”

My belief is that this is a democrat who hates Americans who love America. A damn fool who believes all the lies about President Trump. Angry about deportations.

He chose a country music forum for a reason. For what it represents.

    Known to law enforcement.

    No social media to found.

    8 guns.

    Automatic gunfire.

So much smoke from the gunfire – smoke alarms went off.

Set up cameras to capture the police officers arrival.

    Companion (Hispanic woman in custody)

Brother says he had no political affiliation he just “snapped”.

Thankfully I have to work. I can’t do this.

First, understand that I’m stating this with VERY sketchy information.

    1. Where’s his Class III license?
    2. Some guy who bounces around has the money for that kind of weaponry and ammo?
    3. Nobody knows this guy, at least not from what I’ve heard. At least as of last I heard, this guy’s practically a ghost.
    4. How’d he carry that much weaponry and ammo to a room without being noticed?
    5. How fast did the police get there? Multiple hotels, multiple floors, multiple rooms… IDed and pinned down and breached HOW FAST?

My paranoid detector is pegging out.

I will admit it’s hard to understand how/why a 64 year old man suddenly snapped and planned out an attack on so many people. As for the class III license though, if you’re willing to murder people, breaking the law and buying an automatic weapon on the black market is not going to be that big of deal or he could have just altered semi-automatic weapons to turn them into automatic weapons, again it’s illegal, but someone planning to murder is not going to be too worried about breaking gun laws.

          It’s fairly simple to do.

That’s what always gets me about the left running around screaming gun control. A person wanting to murder one person or hundreds of people is not all that worried about breaking laws or using whatever tool to conduct their evil.

There’s that pesky little 2nd amendment going to get in their way.

It’s all so stupid anyway, if this was a one man show as they’re saying or turns out to be something bigger, he or they were determined to commit mass murder. Bombs, a truck, a bus, etc. could just have easily have been used.

I notice the press has already absolved his Filipina significant other of any involvement. Oh, whoops, my bad, she’s an Australian citizen and a widow to boot. I just can’t get past that whole ‘911 was planned in the Philippines by Moslem terrorists’ thing. And that ‘100 years plus of Moro/Moslem terrorism’ thing. Or that bin Laden sending his brother-in-law to the Philippines in 1987 to coordinate terrorist activities thing. Just can’t seem to let go of that irrelevant ancient history.

Methinks that were my squeeze dead after hosing down a concert from a room I’m connected to I’d be hightailing it back here to clear my name and grieve over said late squeeze.

Just listened to an interview on Fox with John Rich of Big and Rich, and what he knew and experienced in Las Vegas last night. He ended the interview by saying (paraphrased) – People always say ‘our thoughts and prayers’. Just remember that you really do have to pray!

    • Sharon says:

I have wondered about that – especially when the expression is, “We’re sending our prayers….” Huh? Yeah, I know what the intention probably is but I suspect that many who say that have little understanding of what praying actually is – otherwise they probably wouldn’t say it??

‘Spose I’m just too picky. I’ve never sent a prayer anywhere. Pray is a verb. It’s not a thing to be dusted and moved around from day to day. Yeah, I’m picky, but I’m picky because the sloppiness of the language indicates to me that a whole of people are pretending to be and do something that actually has very little meaning for them, and they do it at times of crisis as a courtesy, and that kind of loss of language irritates me.

Every politician seems to want to cash in on any disaster, local pols and bureaucrats aren’t averse to personalizing other’s pain. We’re seeing the locals go on about how THEY’LL protect the party goers at NOLA’s many mass debaucheries. The thousands upon thousands of Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest and other venues, drunk, sober or drugged, can rely on the pols and bureaucrats personally standing in front of any shooter and absord the roubds into their pale, fleshy bods. OK, a but overboard, but you get the idea: “we’l do better than Vegas in protecting you!”.

In a thematic aside a Federal court has indicted an ATF agent for thrft, embezzlement, various charges related to abusing his position and parking in a fire lane. Two other agents just pled guilty and just took the hit. These are the guys who we’re supposed to trust to enforce laws?

Not certain what to think of this. Too many conspiracy theorists to ask anyone out loud. Interesting, though.
