  2. I still want to make a “stellasplacepics.com” archive. Or even just a Photonbucket account. They are indeed stunning. Love the weekly theme idea, too.

I’ve used several of Stella’s selections for desktop and phone backgrounds over the years.

I used to go to Interfacelift for phone, tablet, and desktop wallpapers. (Hint. Stella. 😀 )

When I get some free time, I’d like to make that happen.

They’ve all been astounding, even the Dr. Seuss cover at the very start.

So what’s the better idea for an easily-browseable archive of these pics?

I like the interfacelift model, but could some widget on WordPress collate them all in a link on the sidebar? Every image from every thread tagged “general discussion” = save.

        Any ideas, resident programmers? Jeans?

The Photonbucket method I could do. Very labor-intensive, but it’s only been a few thousand days.

🙂 I get a day off in a few weeks. I may attempt this, Stella.

It is my habit to avoid discussion of personal matters in public, but I will make an exception when the event ties in to a broader matter.

This Sunday the scoutmaster of my sons’ Boy Scout Troop arrived unexpectedly and uninvited on the doorstep of my house, while I was at Mass.

He announced that, due to an anonymous complaint that my youngest son had allegedly made an “anti-Muslim remark” in a private conversation, therefore he and his brother were forthwith expelled from the troop.

To be sure, this was not the only reason given. It was merely the cherry on top. This issue is more complex than the thumbnail I give here, but those nuances are nothing to the point of the example.

When he heard the decree, my son sat on the couch with a look on his face as if he had been shot in the guts.

He had been in this troop for as long as his boyhood memory reaches, has reached the rank of Star and is about to reach Life, and is a patrol leader, or was.

This troop was a big part of our lives. Weekly meetings and monthly hikes and campouts, and yearly camporees have been woven into our schedules since Cub Scouts. The grown ups in the family have spent more hours and weekends lending a hand and helping to sell popcorn than I can calculate. My wife is more active by far than I, and has even earned her Woodbadge, which is an advanced, national leadership program that gobbled up an unfortunate amount of her writing and editing time.

The loyalty and longsuffering support of the Wright family for this troop, which has been a part of all our lives for years, suddenly counted for nothing. We dared speak a word that might offend the Prophet of Submission, peace be upon him. The Blasphemy Laws were breached!

Apparently the decision to expel was made by the pastor of the church sponsoring the troop, even though, technically, it was not his decision to make. I say apparently, because there was no conversation, and no one asked my son for his side of the story.

For the same reason, what precisely the comment was, or who overheard it, I do not know. I suspect my boy was repeating one of his father’s opinions, which can be called “Anti-Muslim” only in the Alice-Through-the-Looking-Glass world of the Left.

In such a case, forgiveness is logical and necessary: the hatred harms only the hater, who inner darkness and unreason is exposed to the candid eye of man and angel alike.

But my son is not prepared for betrayal by people, such as Christian pastors, such as his own scoutmaster, whom I taught him to trust, respect and obey.

The world where chaplains will denounce you for being Christian, or Boy Scouts will expel you for being patriotic, is a new world to him.

When a Leftist Christian has to decide between Leftism and the teachings of Christ, he goes Left. When a Leftist Scout has to decide between Leftism and the teachings of Robert Baden Powell, he goes Left. Leftist put Leftism before all other loyalties.

Why? That’s a load of bullshit and you know it. Go, or don’t go, according to your wishes, but are you daring to say that this is what is representative of each and every church, each parish, each pastor, priest or rabbi?

Let’s say formal, church centered Christianity is gone next generation. You want to tell me the light of Christ will be prominent and actively working in the world, as opposed to hiding in bits and corners of the fringes of society, all but forgotten, owned and professed and loved only by a few blessed souls?

Unless you want to fall in with liberals who paint all Republicans, conservatives, most Christians, and anyone else who isn’t lockstep in their exact ideology, how can you possibly paint with that brush? Yes, our side tends to do the same sometimes, too many times.

Using something like that to prop up an argument against joining a community in worship of Jesus Christ is not worthy of your intellect, or your heart.

Buck up little buckaroo, you have a long trail ahead to see the light.

So, I guess I have to sample them all, and each for enough time to discern which isn’t poison. That’s going to take a lot of Sundays. We have maybe twenty in my town. Who knows, maybe one is preaching the Truth, and isn’t SJW-converged.

That’s daunting. Or maybe I could just attend one long enough to be the good apple that un-spoils the whole barrel. Which is even more daunting.

I don’t mean to be flip with you, Menagerie.

Reminded my former bossman today that his Mom, when she was working for the restaurant, gave every single employee books, DVDs, cards, and CDs, preaching the Gospel, each Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And that when I asked her why she stopped, she said “Nobody reads or watches that stuff anyway.” The whole family is Catholic. The business went downhill really fast when she stopped doing that, and instead embraced Mindlessness Meditation (formerly known as Transcendental Meditation, and had to change it’s name like all evil things tend to do when they get found out). His current kitchen manager went off on me this morning for daring to walk into “his” kitchen to say hello to a long-time server, and I asked what he remembered about Forgiveness and Longsuffering, from when we used to pray together outside of work each morning. He said “I don’t believe in God any more.” Told the bossman about that this morning, too. I said to bossman that “a little leaven leavens the whole loaf” and asked him what would happen if his business had no more believers in it at all?

I know you’re right. But how many Sundays is it going to take to find a church that actually isn’t teaching garbage instead of Gospel? Within bike-riding distance?

As long as it takes. Assuming you want to join a congregation, which I personally think is critical for spiritual development and service to God. You are, in one respect, stones in a jar. You hone and polish each other. I’ve often thought you would benefit by fellowship (a less Catholic term than I am usually used to, but it works) within a community of Christians, but I far more believe that it’s possible God is poking at you to be that one that THEY need.

Which might take time, both to find where you are comfortable, and then not to stalk in like a gunslinger (I’m on western analogies this week pal). You ask how many Sundays. I’d don’t know. Are you doing something so much more critical with those Sunday mornings right now? Fair warning, one Sunday a church might really not be a great picture of the place.

God is found in His so imperfect people. Would you have Him abandon even those in the church where that pastor did what he did? Likely, if it were my son, I’d be talking to the pastor, the Boy Scouts, the deacons or whatever governing council is similar to our parish council. I would be seeking dialogue with my son’s accusers. I’d be making a real big ugly public stink. And if I weren’t satisfied I might leave that particular church. And find another.

im not trying to harass you into joining a church that isn’t my business. But I do feel it’s my place, as your friend, to call you out on absolutely blind statements that are broad in nature.

The establishment of churches enabled Christianity to thrive, grow, and spread throughout the world. St. Paul cared so very much about continuing to nourish these fledgling communities that we have his wonderful letters, encouraging, admonishing, teaching, and always loving and praying and sacrificing for those first churches.

They immediatly began to feed the hungry, care for the sick and weak, to gather in more people in need of the gospel. They became the hands of the Lord.

Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

                St. Teresa of Avila

Christians have continued that great work of the apostles and first churches through the ages, building not only houses of worship but hospitals, soup kitchen, schools, colleges, great universities, serving on battlefields, in jungles, seeking out the neediest and most lost of Jesus’s children, from prisons to ghettos to war torn countries. Orphanages, libraries, nursing homes.

I propose to you that none of those accomplishments would ever have been possible by lone Christians. We talked once before about the early Christmas hermits who went into the desert to be alone in a life of prayer. They had a place, but God needed a whole lot more than they could offer the world.

Believe it or not, I don’t presume to know what’s best for you, but I do recognize a seeking and questing soul. And always I pray for you. Maybe some of the things you are telling yourself need to be examined.

One more thing. The wonderful mother of your old boss who did so much good, and tried to reach so many people with he faith. I’m better the farm she stopped going to mass BEFORE she lost that faith.

I work every Sunday morning, for many years. Now, I work a double shift every Sunday.

An atheist I work with wants to debate Christianity with me, and I told him “No. My silver tongue is never going to convince you that I’m right, and that He is real. Watch me work. Watch how love is what drives my work.”

I just got back from seeing the movie Megan Leavey. It is about a female Marine and her Marine dog. I highly recommend it. IMO it is well filmed and acted, especially the dog who plays Rex. LOL It is mostly about her fight to get Rex after they are both out of the Marines. It is based on a true story (except for the love story which Megan assures never happened).

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen
