   Thank you for this, Stella – and what a pitch-perfect presentation of ‘Taps’ at the opening –

   Love seeing the military vets and those currently serving standing with pride and singing their hearts out…..

   My nephew is remembered in this: served at length in Vietnam (Marine Corps) and died about ten years ago as a result of cancer induced via Agent Orange. During the last 6 months or so of his life, he knew he would not survive – his two sons were serving in Iraq (one of them a sniper) and he desperately wanted to be assigned to be there with them. He was still available for active duty – (except for the cancer!).

   Obviously that could not and would not be approved….but he was SO upset by that – his heart said, “I’m dying anyway, due to military service – so if I’m willing to stand with our forces in Iraq, that should be my choice….” What they say is true, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”

   God bless the memory and the families of those whose lives have been given. I particularly think of those families for whom this is the first Memorial Day since their beloved military member died.

     I thought of you, Sharon, when I posted this. Remember when we used to post random Sousa march tunes – just to keep spirits high?

   Not being particularly articulate, shall again plagerize the words of another, which include current thoughts of fam WWI & II rebels and non, and fam Viet Vet rebel recently passed –
