Slightly off topic but…burned a pile of brush and small trees tonite. As usual we had two cats, one sitting on each tractor, meatloafed in and watching the fire. Considering their uncatlike fascination with fire I keep the matches well out of their reach.

Well, I KNOW for sure, mine has helped.(retired Nurse here) but, I have gotten to meet and follow one particular once-preemie, who is now a beautiful 14 year-healthy young woman. I donated to her specifically while she was in the NICU. We have a pact.to keep in touch, cause we have a bond, and I jokingly but not!!!, agreed with her that if I ever need a donation…….I can call her for what she calls “pay-backs.”
Now, quite talkin’ about it, there’s something in muh eye!!!!!!!

Sabo, your old mentor is calling.
A 2007 newspaper account agreed that a “peculiar ritual” of handling the “shining orbs” of the statue’s scrotum seems to have developed into a tradition. One visitor, from Mississippi, told the Tribeca Trib she did it “for good luck”, and because “there’s a kind of primal response when you see something like that. You just have to engage it.” The enthusiastic reaction to the sculpture continues into the darker hours. “I’ve seen people do some crazy things to that bull,” said a souvenir vendor, “At night sometimes, when people have been drinking, I’ve seen them do stuff to that bull that you couldn’t print in a newspaper.”

I have, actually. I agree with some of the commentators at AT who said the artist who created Charging Bull should take it elsewhere, leaving defiant, fearless girl with nothing to be defiant and fearless about, and rendering the SJW statue meaningless.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (CBS/AP) — A man has been cited for disorderly conduct after police say he “freaked out” when he saw a Confederate flag displayed in a Pennsylvania hotel window as part of a Civil War-themed wedding.
The (Easton) Express-Times says police charged the man with making the disturbance at the Hotel Bethlehem on Saturday. His name wasn’t immediately released.
Police Chief Mark DiLuzio says the man was cited for “freaking out, screaming and yelling” and creating a “very aggressive and disorderly scene.”

I’m sure several of you have read this already…
In the recently released peek behind the curtain of the Clinton campaign, the book Shattered, we now learn, ”The campaign was an unholy mess, fraught with tangled lines of authority, petty jealousies, distorted priorities, and no sense of purpose.” Despite façade of perfection, control and steadiness portrayed by the media, the reality was chaos and dysfunction.
If the book authors knew this, why didn’t the media? And if they did, why did they not report it? Why did they gloss over Mrs. Clinton collapsing on a New York City street, needing to be dragged like a sack of potatoes into a waiting van? Why no discussion of her bizarre facial tics, her crossed eyes, her dark sunglasses, her five-minute coughing spells?
Voters noticed these things, despite the best efforts of big media to cover them up. Classic enabling behavior. The alcoholic didn’t really pass out, she just needed a nap. The gambling addict doesn’t really have a problem, she just had a run of bad luck.
Classic enabling, a codependent relationship between the media and Hillary Clinton, going to great efforts to explain, excuse or hide her dysfunctional campaign. Until the evening of Nov. 8 when it became obvious that this was all a charade.
No wonder Hillary Clinton was devastated on election night, unable to concede or address her supporters. Instead, sending John Podesta to make excuses for the failed campaign. Mrs. Clinton listened to the sycophantic media, believing their puff pieces about how smart and well-qualified she was. How Trump was a doofus who didn’t know how to tie his own shoes. How America adored her. How she would easily cruise to the White House. In a landslide. Her destiny finally fulfilled.
All an elaborate fantasy concocted by the media.

In a clip discovered by Ian Miles Cheong of Heat Street, a segment on “Bill Nye the Science Guy” called “Consider the Following” featured a girl describing how XX and XY chromosomes determine whether you are male or female.
“Inside each of our cells are these things called chromosomes,” the girl says, pointing to XX and XY refrigerator magnets, “and they control whether we become a boy or a girl.”
The girl explains to viewers how becoming a boy or a girl is a 50-50 chance, based on whether or not the father contributes a Y chromosome.
“There are only two possibilities,” the girl states.

“This outbreak marks a 20-year high of measles cases in the state. Of course, Minnesota is led by Democrats Attorney General Loris Swanson and Gov. Mark Dayton who sued President Trump over his travel ban which could have prevented this whole thing in the first place.”
‘“On the public health front, Somali refugees in Minnesota have been identified as responsible for 22 percent (161 out of 732) of the cases of active tuberculosis (TB) diagnosed between 2010 and 2014, despite accounting for about one percent of the state’s population,” Breitbart News reported, “Recently, female genital mutilation (FGM) within the American Somali community has come to the forefront as a significant problem as well.’ I think parents who allow their daughters to get FGM should be prosecuted and jailed.

True dat, some will get sick if they get shots, some will get sick if they don’t. Problem is that a lot more people will get sick when they’re infected by the persons who didn’t get the shots. You don’t wanna get the shots, fine, but carry liability insurance so that folks who get sick from your choice can sue.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Prove that Joe Blow’s kid gave your child measles, and then you can sue. (You don’t want me sitting on that jury.) This “herd immunity” concept is insane. Either, the vaccines will prevent the disease and your child will be fine if another kid comes down with measles, or they won’t, in which case why bother with vaccines?
No one is obligated to vaccinate their child. Whether or not they should get the child vaccinated is a valid argument. “You have to get your kid vaccinated before mine gets sick in spite of the vaccine I made them get” is not.
LikeLiked by 1 person
The biggest problem is children who contract measles and pass them on to babies who are too young to be vaccinated. Happens usually in daycare centers or the doctors’ offices, but could happen anywhere.
When your baby gets the measles (which is a very serious disease for an infant), please let me know how you feel about it. I REMEMBER what it was like before vaccinations were available. My nephew contracted encephalitis after measles and almost died. As it was, he was left with seriously impaired eyesight.
I have no sympathy for anti-vaxxers, at least not for serious communicable childhood diseases like measles and whooping cough. They kill babies.
Sorry.
Compulsory vaccination of children in public schools is 100% legal, proven in court, and I would support it wholeheartedly. I agree that some vaccines shouldn’t be compulsory, and that is a conversation that we can have.
The statistics are on my side.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Some children cannot be vaccinated because of other medical conditions. They too are vulnerable.
LikeLiked by 2 people
That is not the point of my comment. I am not an anti-vaxer. You can vaccinate your child if you want, or not vaccinate them if you don’t want. I don’t have kids. If I did I probably would give them vaccines, but not on the insane, multi-shot -at -a-time schedule the government recommends.
The issue I have is with the “herd immunity” argument that somehow everyone has to get a vaccine or vaccines are not effective. If you give your child a vaccine for measles and I don’t, and then my child gets sick, and so does yours in spite of the vaccine, what good was the vaccine? It did nothing.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Read about it before you comment on this again. You are, quite simply, wrong.
The vast majority of vaccinated children do not become ill. Unvaccinated children who contract the illness put those children who cannot be vaccinated at risk.
The reason why we have 60 cases a year instead of 60,000 is because most children are vaccinated. Herd immunity prevents the disease from spreading.
LikeLiked by 2 people
I’ll say this again: I approve of compulsory vaccination of children in public schools, at least for those diseases such as measles, whooping cough, rubella, polio and chicken pox. How you and your doctor decide when and how to administer said vaccines is up to you.
LikeLiked by 2 people
“Unvaccinated children who contract the illness put those children who cannot be vaccinated at risk.”
Good to know. Now, please realize that up until this point the ONLY argument I ever heard for “herd immunity” was that vaccines didn’t work if everyone didn’t get one and kids who got vaccines were still at risk if everyone else didn’t. Not that kids who could not be vaccinated were at risk, but that kids who DID get vaccinated were still at risk.
I’m aware that there are still periodic cases of diseases we have vaccines for, but the first argument that I heard made vaccines look completely useless because no one argued for stopping the spread of disease for those who for medical reasons could not be vaccinated. They argued that everyone needed to be vaccinated to protect children who had already been vaccinated.

The Arrogance of Blue America
If you want to see the worst impacts of blue policies, go to those red regions—like upstate New York or inland California—in states they control.

Sortalike New Orleans. For decades the middle and above class exodus to the suburbs was an embarrassment to the city government. The city government knew what had to be done but avoided doing it as it would have aggrivated the elite’s voting base.
At first they started to make it seem due to ‘racism’ by referring to the loss of population as ‘white flight’, ignoring the Asians and monied blacks who unassed the city.
Katrina gave the city apologists a chance to use the city’s mass evacuation as a play toy. Pre-K population was pegged at 485,000; July of 2006 it was estimated at 387,000, 2016 population was estimated at 343,000. But wait…why the drop between 2006 and 2016 with increased in-migration? Well it depends upon who’s doing the count and which method they’re using.
What we’re seeing is the demographers using multiple methods including my fav, just expanding the city’s population stats out to include the far-flung suburbs where the city’s monied and crime-feared residents ran to. You get to count those burbs for situations where you need the bodies and ignore them for situations where you don’t. You can use the body-count methods of the USPS (number of residential mail drops), utility accounts, or voter rolls, depending on what you’re trying to show. Or the counters can just reach waaaaay up their nether statistical repositories and pull out a number, who’s to say you’re wrong?
The definitions of urban, suburban, rural and flyover are fungible, they can be custom tailored as required.

What are the actual boundaries for New Orleans? Here in the part if Indiana I live in, the city has control of a two-mile fringe area outside their boundaries proper. Is it the same why down there?
I’m trying to figure out if there’s any basis to the statistical tricks you’re describing or if it’s just whatever works for whoever needs the numbers at the time.

City ate up the entire parish (county) decades ago, there are a few acres that are still parish but they are basically useless.
Trick is that big cities can use suburbs that are not part of their political structure as part of the city’s ‘metropolitan statistical area’ for various ‘numbers’ games. The big city doesn’t have any jurisdiction in the smaller suburban cities but gets to use their numbers in the Fed funds grab. Was a move during the Clinton years to try and allow big cities to tax adjacent smaller cities for their residents use of the big city. That’s creativity.

Another move is to try to combine the school districts (and taxes).

Could you send some of that water to my folks in FL? Their dock looks a lot like that one, except that the lake starts at about 2 feet beyond the end. My mom thinks it’s because of all the orange growers sucking all the water out of FL.
And they do have some mighty massive wells. My dad’s cousin is one of them, describing to us his new 6″ well and the massive diesel engine powering it. Very deep, too, far deeper than your average residential well.
I just wish my folks had a proper lake again.

At this time of year we usually have rain just about every afternoon. Our little pond/lake is waaaayyy down too. My concern is more for the sinkholes that will start becoming more frequent.

VD, I’ve been following you for quite a while and appreciate your viewpoint and the information shared. Of late, however, it seems you’re shifting to the echo chamber model. I agree with your desire to keeping on-topic and without profanity. But not allowing contradicting views or the calling out of the GE when he appears to be losing focus, is not of value to any of us; concern trolls aside.
“Well, obviously I am terrified of VP being called an echo chamber. I mean, what could be worse than an Alt-Right echo chamber? Where else will people be able to find conservative, or liberal, or mainstream media views being expressed?
“Clearly we must act! I will take his well-considered advice.
“Trolls, defeatists, anklebiters, have at it. Comment as you see fit. Be defeatist. Be despondent. Share your contradicting views. Call out the God-Emperor. Insult your fellow commenters. I’m not going to moderate anything at all. Moderators, stand down and let the commenters comment freely, as they obviously desire.
“I will also unspam every spam comment that catches previous trolls.
“It’s certainly less work and time-investment on my part. I look forward to seeing precisely how much the comments are going to improve and how much value is going to be added to everyone.”

It’s like the “2 minutes of hate”, only more entertaining!
Imagine no moderation at CTH, at all. None. That’s what’s going on there.
VD just threw up his hands and said, “Okay. Lets do this, and see what happens.”
Normally he moderates heavily, and so do his minions. More heavily than SD, and, if it can be believed, more heavily than even CJ did back in the day at LGF.
See what happens when VD’s site becomes YouTube’s comment section.

Well,,, a busy day, Doctors and whatnot. Dh has been officially diagnosed (after today’s test) with CIDP which means he needs treatments periodically. The exact time frame we have yet to figure out,, but it could be every 2 months or 6 weeks, something like that. So now we just have to figure out how to deal with this. I was hoping he would get something much easier to pronounce, but it is what it is. Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy: http://www.webmd.com/brain/what-is-cidp#1 Don’t get me wrong, it could be much worse, in the mean time we will be able to do just about everything we were planning on.

Received in email today:
The Heritage Foundation’s Board of Trustees, by a unanimous vote, has asked for and received the resignation of Jim DeMint as president and CEO of the organization. The Board elected Heritage Founder Ed Feulner as president and CEO while we conduct a thorough search for his successor.
After a comprehensive and independent review of the entire Heritage organization, the Board determined there were significant and worsening management issues that led to a breakdown of internal communications and cooperation. While the organization has seen many successes, Jim DeMint and a handful of his closest advisers failed to resolve these problems.
This was a difficult and necessary decision for the Board to take. As trustees, we have governance and oversight responsibilities for this organization and our 500,000 members. We were compelled to take action.
Heritage has never been about one individual, but rather the power of conservative ideas. Heritage is bigger than any one person.
As Chairman of the Board, I wholeheartedly endorse this change. It will make Heritage stronger in the short term and the long run.
Heritage is a permanent policy research institution fighting for conservative ideas, as Ed Feulner often reminds us. We remain committed, as ever, to the principles that have made America great: free enterprise; limited government; individual freedom; traditional American values; and a strong national defense. This will continue under the leadership of Ed and his successor.
Feulner led Heritage for more than three decades and returns to our organization after serving on President Trump’s transition team. There is no one better to guide the ship while we seek our new leader and continue to push for conservative ideas and policies in Washington and around the nation.
As conservatives, we have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us to restore the principles of the American founding. You and the 500,000 Americans who donate to support Heritage have played a crucial role in making our work possible, and I look forward to working with you in the future. As we move forward, the Board of Trustees will be seeking your thoughts and input about our search for the next leader of Heritage.
Thanks to your support, our scholars have shaped public policy in a firmly conservative direction for the last 44 years and will continue to do so in the future.
I regret not being able to let you know sooner about this change. While we were trying to resolve this matter amicably, we honored our side of the bargain to remain silent.
I wanted to ensure that the Board’s decision was final before alerting you. Unfortunately, the media ran with speculation about this story before the facts could be disclosed. As a loyal Heritage supporter, I hope that you will understand the reasons that compelled these changes and stand with us in this time of transition.
Thank you for all your support and dedication to the conservative cause.
Sincerely,
Thomas A. Saunders III
Chairman, Board of Trustees
The Heritage Foundation

Got this email from Paul Nehlen today. It’s pretty long.
PAUL RYAN’S TREACHERY
Delavan, WI – Republican Paul Nehlen continues mulling a 2018 challenge to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R – WI), citing Ryan’s legislative failures, and Ryan’s continued undermining of President Trump.
“How is it possible Speaker Ryan serves up a 1,665 page Omnibus, a document longer than Obama’s stimulus, with less than a week to review it and vote?” Nehlen opened. “It’s possible because this was a planned attack on the administration.”
As a strong supporter of President Trump, Nehlen warned several times Ryan’s screw ups weren’t accidental. “This past week on Andrew Wilkow’s radio show, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) recounted the GOP caucus’s expectation of putting a repeal bill on President Trump’s desk Day One” recounts Nehlen. “Jordan was shocked, as I think were many American’s by what Ryan’s leadership team delivered with the pitiful RyanCare 1.0 legislation.”
Then along comes the budgeting process. The President, duly elected in a landslide electoral win, provides guidance. “Ryan won one district in one state. However, Ryan undermines the President once again with a mind-numbing 1,665 page Omnibus that funds Planned Parenthood, refugee resettlement, Obamacare, EPA, and Sanctuary Cities,” asserts Nehlen. “Specifically, which of those is a conservative cause?”
“We elected Trump President, not Ryan. If we’d wanted Ryan’s agenda we’d of drafted him to run for President. That clearly wasn’t on the American voters mind, as Ryan’s favorability has never been higher than before my challenge to the seat owned by the voters of Wisconsin’s 1st district. We defeated TPP. We tore Ryan’s globalist mask off for all to see the true face of what working in D.C. can do to a good man,” closed Nehlen.
“Ryan has been in D.C. too long, evidenced by his priorities, by his actions,” Nehlen closed. “Fighting for American workers, American security, and an America First agenda, that’s in Paul Ryan’s job description, not usurping President Trump’s mandate.”
Paul Nehlen is not another lifelong politician, but a business executive and inventor. Nehlen started out on the factory floor, and through God’s grace, grit, and determination rose to lead Fortune 500 manufacturing businesses around the world. Nehlen challenged Speaker Paul Ryan in Wisconsin’s 2016 First Congressional District to stop Trans-Pacific Partnership and secure America’s border. Today he is waging the battle against the refugee resettlement racket and leading the cause to fight for America’s values. He lives in Delavan, Wisconsin.

Paul Nehlen has very little chance of beating Ryan. Unfortunately District 1 seems to be full of Sheeple and money from the big wig RINO bastages. If Ryan is booted from his Speaker position I think his constituents will still rally behind him.
This next year will determine the course of history for the United States. I would love to see Ryan ousted. If President Trump’s agenda gets around the saboteurs and the US starts tipping upright Ryan will ride his coattails if the saboteurs prevail Ryan will spit in President Trump’s face so fast he’ll make Usain Bolt look slow.
Unless we have a major shake up Ryan is going to be another Pelosi.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu. We pray for France, and for the safety of Marine Le Pen.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

I had to giggle watching Mulvaney remembering that Ann Coulter said that one of the main picks to watch in a Trump administration would be his pick for Budget Chief. She said that would let us know the trajectory of the administration. Somehow she now seems to have forgotten everything she was saying because POTUS is not following her rule book. Immovable is not the way to win battles, not when your enemies are circling you on every front and RINO’s the Dems, the MSM and the Speaker of the House all have their daggers sharpened.
Yet Mulvaney is rock solid. The person Ann said to watch.

Why wouldn’t they be doing the same today?
The demo competitions have a byte limit. “What can you do with this computer and all its chips within these limits?”
That link is people pushing todays computers (you can download all the files and make your PC and it’s chips do all that) — it’s not a video, folks — it’s a program made by the demoscene.
What can you do with 128k? is the gist of it.
