I appreciate Mr. Trump’s quiet self-containment and reserve on these official occasions.

I can’t help wonder if Trump’s hoing to announce some industrial/economic partnership with Japan? US is world’s largest, China is number two and Japan is number three. Trump’s already fired a shot over China’s bow and Japan’s still China’s number one ‘enemy’ in Asia. A heavy partnership between Japan and the US would cause economic centers to shift and make China nervous.
China’s been poking Japan defense-wise for a few years now and Japan’s answered with what can be though of as Japan’s biggest naval modernization and build up WWII. We have Japan arming up and a US president arguing to rebuild the US military in the face of a perceived Chinese threat.
Watch for the Japanese to start talking again about becoming a nuclear nation.
