Alright. We made it through Monday. We should have a new SecEd by close of business today, so that’s a good thing. Now, sit back, put your feet on the coffee table, and coffee up. Lot’s of work ahead of y’all.

Still waiting for the Gorsuch fight. Leftist progs lnow that trying yo pack and reliably deal with over 500 Congressmen is exhausting and unpredictable. Easier to push for sympathetic Left-activist judges and legislate quickly thru the courts rather than slogging thru Congress.
The Left will fight in the streets to pack the courts and the Right will eventually get pushed past its tolerance too, as it was in the 60s and early 70s. The totality of the Right is encumbered by too many hangers-on who want protection from the Left but are afraid to fight for it and their passivity tends to drag on the activists. The Left perceives this as a weakness and gets bolder and more open and pushes us closer and closer to the prospect of a civil war.
Trump had better load the SCOTUS to a solid Right majority or things are going to go Balkans.

  7. I am wondering if maybe these leftist colleges that engage in political posturing should have federal funds pulled. I’m getting tired of hearing from local institute’s of miseducation about how they oppose President Trump’s immigration suspension. I think this posturing should be grounds for losing federal funds.

Watch them and especially the colleges, start screaming the government is suppressing free speech. Colleges have been money machines since Vietnam when hundreds of thousands of vets with Gai Bill money and limited job options started heaving baskets of cash at them. Squeeze them by their bills and they’ll start squealing. Pliers, please.

      • In my limited experience in politics, those who scream the loudest are usually those who making the most victims out of other people. I don’t mind the GI Bill paying for college for soldiers, but textbooks are a scam and I’ve been in one class for five weeks and I’ve learned nothing. Absolutely nothing that I didn’t already know before this class. It’s required, of course, so I have to take it, but it’s such a waste.

I don’t care how much screaming they do. Let’s pull funds. There’s already a lot of liberals screaming; they can just scream louder.

Not saying ‘don’t pull the funds’, might be a good idea to squeeze them and let the pointy-heads know who rows the boat. Colleges have gotten away for far too long with being socisl engineering sites vice educational institutions.
Re collegectects: thry were a scsm when I was first there nearly 50 years ago. Prof dictates which texts are used and faculty approves based on longterm profit projections. You buy new at, let’s say, $50. W hen course is over you sell back to college at about $25 (if you’re lucky) and college resells as used for $40. After a few semesters the college changes to another book, frequently one retired from the course previously and held in storage, and the whole thing starts over.
Back in 1970 I had acpto-student activist prof who did not doecify a book to the U staff and had students buy a paperback that only cost a buck or two. College never did give him tenure.

“How and Why the Senate Must Reform the Filibuster”
“The filibuster thus entered the couch-potato world of virtual reality, where an actual speech is no longer required to block a vote. Today the mere threat of a filibuster suffices to kill a bill as the Senate shrugs and goes on to other business. The filibuster has been stripped of all the unpleasantness that discouraged its use and encouraged compromise and resolution.”

  14. I know the Silent Majority spoke up this last election but it’s time for them to never be silent again. We need to be heard. But not by the media, by people who matter.

On Tuesdays, everyone who has a Twitter account should tweet to @POTUS and @realDonaldTrump and thank him for what he is doing. We can call it Tuesday Tweets for Trump, but don’t tag your tweet like that. The goal isn’t to have a trending tag but to show support while flying under the radar (once it trends, Leftists can hijack it and use it to mock and deride Trump, which is why I don’t want it to be a hashtagged thing. We can call it that on any website outside of Twitter.)

The media cannot be allowed or trusted to speak for us. We need to make it clear that we support what Trump is doing. You tweet to the Vice President as well if you would like, but I would just like to see people sending thank you tweets to Trump on Tuesdays.

While it’s interesting to see Rahm’s take on his hysterical fellow travelers, his statement that democrats would rather be right than winning still has to be analyzed. I suppose it depends on what the meaning of “right” is; in what world.

Maybe he means they are hysterical at losing power that they can’t remember the Alinsky rules in the midst of their complete breakdown.

It may also be that, at long last, they have actually lost much of their decades – long audience which, for many, has been their entire lives.

Since I have been feeling less than chipper, I decided to go and buy a bread machine. Years ago I had one, I used it for mixing and kneading the dough, then I would bake it in a normal pan, in the oven. I found an Oster model that got great reviews for $6 at goodwill. If I like it I may buy a new one. 2 hours to go. 🙂 A very exciting day at the cottage.

This is the one I found used… but I plugged it in, and everything worked,,, it was pretty clean.. so I count it as a $6 win. What I don’t get is the difference between regular flour and bread flour… The one I had was a combination bread machine toaster oven. It was wonderful, but it isn’t being sold anymore, prolly too practical… 😦

If your recipe calls for bread flour, then use bread flour, which has more gluten. I always use King Arthur bread flour (it has the highest percentage of gluten of the flours available in the supermarket).

I recommend weighing your flour rather than measuring it. You will get much better and more consistent results. One cup of King Arthur bread flour should be 4.25 ounces in your recipe. Four cups equals 17 ounces.

We had a city-wide chili cook-off last weekend, and our servers were asked if the chili was Gluten-Free four times. I’ve always wanted to print a bunch of “Gluten Free” stickers, and go to the local superstore, and stick them on things like tires and batteries, and cat litter. Just as a social experiment, to see if people will buy them more.

What is sad is that a true celiac disease sufferer wouldn’t take the chance of eating your chili based solely on your statement that it was gluten free. My daughter’s SIL is so careful that they cook everything they will eat themselves, or those things that are labeled by a manufacturer (or obviously gluten free). She was seriously ill, even suffering nerve damage, and was treated at the Mayo Clinic.

Why? The progressive doesn’t have a rule book. They have no set morality. They have no “Bible”. Their bible and creed is the Satanist “Do what thou wilt.”
