Mice are about to be replaced in our doormat mail. For the first time since we built here we have moles and the cats are deconstructing their tunnels in search of them. I expect moles to be offered up on the doorstep any day. If this eorks out msybe I can rent out my tunnel cats to the BP, seems they’re largely unable to find shiite.

I have skunk dens on our property and at least one had a den under our slab. They really are cute, not aggressive at all and are great at catching rodents and snakes.
Last spring, as I was driving up our driveway, a whole litter of skunk kits was crossing it. I didn’t know what it was at first, it looked like a large ball of roiling black and white rolling across the drive. I got out to watch, they were moving east to west but there wasn’t any walking, it was a huge ball rolling/playing. Mama was out there somewhere watching, no warnings but I wasn’t about to get close enough to worry her.

My mom was born in 1916. She had a pet skunk when she was little. She said it made a great pet.

Posted this one before but back in about ’73 we had a nasty divorce case in Palm Beach county. The upscale parties could agree about all of the property division except…their pet skunk. Judge took possession of thevskunk (they had state paperwork prrmitting them to have it) and sent it over to the pound to live until disposition could be made.
Skunk was huge, it had been fed and pampered from a kit and was very, very friendly. Pound would have it walking around in the admin areas where it would nuzzle the workers, sleep wrapped around feet and beg food. Stayed there for about two weeks and we thought when the judge’s decision came down the pound folks were going to go to court for possession.
