Immigration Executive Orders Signed January 25, 2017, & Fake News

signingexecutiveordersTwo Executive Orders pertaining to Border Security, Immigration Enforcement, and Public Safety were signed by President Trump on January 25, 2017.

Here are links to Executive Orders on the White House website:

Executive Orders

There seems to be a lot of Fake News about at least one of the clauses in the second Order, which pertains to public safety, and reads:

(b) To better inform the public regarding the public safety threats associated with sanctuary jurisdictions, the Secretary shall utilize the Declined Detainer Outcome Report or its equivalent and, on a weekly basis, make public a comprehensive list of criminal actions committed by aliens and any jurisdiction that ignored or otherwise failed to honor any detainers with respect to such aliens.

Here is an example of one article about it. From The Hill:

President Trump in the executive orders he signed Tuesday called on the Department of Homeland Security to publish a list each week of the crimes committed by undocumented immigrants.

The aim, according to the document, is “to better inform the public regarding the public safety threats associated with sanctuary jurisdictions.”

The article in The Hill is one of the better ones. Most of them, including one in The Independent UK, state that it isn’t clear that it doesn’t target LEGAL immigrants, and insinuate that this is some kind of hit list or blacklist that was invented by President Trump! (see Independent article HERE)

It does not specify that only crimes committed by illegal immigrants should be included – raising the prospect of offences committed by any immigrant being published even if the person is living in the US legally.

The decision to publish a list of immigrant crimes is reminiscent of the ‘Black crime’ listings on Breitbart News – the far-right website that until recently was run by Steve Bannon, who is now Mr Trump’s chief strategist.

The truth is that the Declined Detainer Outcome Report mentioned in the Executive Order has been produced by ICE for at least several years on a regular basis, and is clearly all about illegal aliens who have been arrested and that a city or state jurisdiction has DECLINED to DETAIN. It give statistics about the numbers of illegals that have been arrested, the number of times they have been arrested, and crimes committed by said illegal aliens. It also has a section that lists particular egregious crimes that were committed. See an example In This PDF

Yeah, well, let’s get California and the Federal BoP to just publish a simple report that gives figures on the number of illegal aliens in California state and Federal prisons that are there for non-violent and violent crimes. Trust me, that’ll wake a lot of people up….OK, apologist progs will dtill find some way but that’s to be expected. This help shake up a lot of folks who have their heads in the sand or elsewhere.

Miami-Dade mayor orders jails to comply with Trump crackdown on ‘sanctuary’ counties

    http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article128984759.html

Fearing a loss of millions of dollars for defying immigration authorities, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez on Thursday ordered county jails to comply with federal immigration detention requests — effectively gutting the county’s position as a “sanctuary” for immigrants in the country illegally.

Gimenez cited an executive order signed Wednesday by President Donald Trump that threatened to cut federal grants for any counties or cities that don’t cooperate fully with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Since 2013, Miami-Dade has refused to indefinitely detain inmates who are in the country illegally and wanted by ICE — not based on principle, but because the federal government doesn’t fully reimburse the county for the expense.
