I never thought I’d appreciate the goodness and humor of a set of YouTube comments, sorted by Top Comments.
I was wrong.
The upvote/like/ratings system on most online platforms which allow commenting, from YouTube to CBSLocal sites to Yahoo News — those sites which are non-partisan, but still SJW-converged — has made it plain to see that WE ARE THE MAJORITY.
At least among people who can be bothered to comment on a forum.
There is a reason New York Times doesn’t allow comments.
They know we would dominate their comment sections with our version of events.
Our version would outweigh theirs, and they know it.

What I mean is, if they could be sure that a majority, if not all, of their commenters were progs, they would open comments.
They know that’s not the case. They know we’re the majority.

To be accurate, the NYT does have comments on their opinion pieces, but not on news items. Their policy is the same as most newspapers.

This is too hilarious. I think some of those were things my mama said. She was a very firm believer in hitting the stores at the first mention of snow, and then again right before the snow started, and she would fill the gas tank up on every car we owned.
Mama believed in never running out of bread, milk, and toilet paper.

My son-in-law stopped at the store after work yesterday and he said there was no milk except almond milk and buttermilk. Bread aisle didn’t have one loaf of bread, only rolls and buns.
Our county didn’t even get a snowflake. lol

Ther were some posts yesterday about revolution/dissolution in Mexico and problems in DHS. I lost the thread as myiPad starts acting strange when there’s a large number of posts in a thread.
Anyway, it should be of no surprise to anyone in the government when Mexico melts down, there are any number contingency plans thst have been done on exactly that theme over the years by a number of agencies.
Of course if some members of the government were planning on using the meltdown and resultant tsunami of immigrants flooding the border for their own purposes, welllllll…..
As for DHS being….troubled…it was a gimme it would be. I was assigned to Customs when it was folded into DHS. All or part of 22 agencies were folded into DHS and most had problems. Actually, thry had problems at close of individual business the day before DHS was formed, as of opening (most showed up on time) it was a new day, a new agency and all problems were forgiven as the old agencies either didn’t exist any more. Those agencies that only gave up a fragment of their being received a bye as they ‘touched’ a virginal entity and could also blame their problems on that portion of them that was transferred….you know, that portion whose sins were forgiven. Neat, no?
Errors created for a period (undetermined) after DHS was formed can be blamed on the learning curve needed to adapt to a new mission though a lot can be hidden under the closk of nstionsl security.
I’d posted this before next door (saying that a lot lately) years ago, nothing startling about this, it just how the Feds ‘work’. You can bet that when that Mexican meltdown occurs and hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of immigrants fleeing the mess hit our border the government will feign surprise as they flow over. Nothing will be done to stop or return them, on the contrary the government will be mobilized to feed, cloth and shelter them, then find them places to stay here on humanitarian grounds. The US will get its 51st state, or 53rd if Puerto Rico and DC get their green cards, and we’ll get….well, you know.

There are a crap ton of people who think we are going to wake up to a new, fresh, squeaky clean and fixed world on January 21st.
She me things will get better eventually, but some are going to get worse first. You have to tear things down to rebuild, and you have a lot to do to even get to rebuild when things are so bad.
I expect some things might move faster as Trump does not accept the D.C. excuses and logjam, and he just takes his case bluntly to the people. But that does not mean instant fixes.
We have a deeply corrupt government with entrenched civil servants protected by law. That alone is fearsome.

Countries have gone to war over the economic reset caused by other countries trying to clean their own house. Fortunes built in the last 30 years by opportunists gaming the system will become the poster children against Trump for the socialists. I definitely think this will be one of those “has to get worse before it gets better” things. You can’t undo many, many years of corruption and incompetence overnight. Sometimes i get really upset or excited about things I don’t like in gov’t, and think, Trump will fix that! Then I stop and remind myself that he can’t fix everything, and certainly not all at once either. There will have to be some triaging.
The wall between us and Mexico should be his top, number one priority.

My kitteh-mamma just happened to be there when I was checking out, and gave me a ride back. She was (and is) Tripod’s “owner” (as if) at the vets. She used to come to the alley every night to feed the kittehs, but doesn’t any more, and is kinda miffed that I took him inside (how could I not?, he’s 12.) I live in the apartment that she lived in, while owning the seedy bar beneath her, which is now a clothing store.
I told her all about him, on the ride. Yup, he’s on my bed. Yup, he’s purring. Nope, he doesn’t have to worry about winter any more. He’s home.

LikeLiked by 1 person
When I worked for a seamless gutter company “Bronze” was just dark brown. I never understood why the company that made the colors called it Bronze and not just Dark Brown.
In the Navy, they told us our Dress Blues were Blue. No. They’re black. Put ’em to a spectrograph. They’re black. But you had better say they’re blue. You say something is what it isn’t because that’s what you’re told to say.

Bronze where? Walls? Windows? Exterior surface I’m assuming? If there is a wide variation in tone between what you call bronze and the darkest color found in other homes I doubt you will win this one. Most HOAs are dictatorships of a few powerful people who need to be a big fish in a small pond and consequently will fight tooth, claw, and nail to win every pronouncement they make.
Also, in my opinion bronze is a metallic finish, not just dark brown. Just like silver is not gray.

They chose to have either clear or charcoal grey… but they never had their projects approved.. that is my point.. the bronze (brown) goes with my house, and as a tint, it is very hard to tell the difference,,, it isn’t paint it is a vinyl tint..

Ask the HOA/slash/Your neighbor this:
What about black, or white? Given politics lately, are either of those “neutral” colors?
SF authors and conspiracy theorists (I repeat myself) once said that all matter would be replaced by a “Grey Goo”, when molecular, AI-posesssing devices would replicate themselves after absorbing all molecular matter in their path.

“Dress Blues” has a slang origin. It was the color of “service” uniforms for maids a few hundred years ago. It’s where the blue police “service” uniform comes from as well.
In the military, dress uniforms traditionally have been “service” uniforms of the past that have become ceremonial rather than functional. At least the men’s uniforms, that is.

Keeping our fingers crossed, but my daughter thinks the baby turned during the night. She says it feels as if she’s up and down. I will say her stomach looks more round now instead of looking kind of oval shaped. You can also feel her uterus up higher than it was.
We’ll find out for sure this week.
Just a little over 6 weeks to go. It’s a good thing this was her second pregnancy, because as rough as it’s been on her, I probably would have gotten only one grandchild from her. 🙂

She says she can’t tell if she’s head up or head down, but she’s getting some relief. I never carried one sideways, so don’t know how it feels, but she says it’s painful.
They say it’s dangerous if they stay sideways, because although possible to have one butt or feet first, no way to have one sideways without a c-section and even then a c-section is a bit more difficult.
I guess it’s really dangerous if your water is to break while they’re transverse because it can rupture the cord.
Hopefully if she has definitely turned, she has turned head down and will keep her little self that way.
I’ve tried not to dwell on all the bad stuff the doctor has said, but it’s hard not to. It’s been stressful on me with all the worry of premature labor when she was head down in the birth canal then with her being sideways and all the bad stuff that could result, so I can’t imagine the stress she’s been going through.

I know she’s concerned and she has a little of the worry wart from her Mama.
She didn’t stay in that position long. My daughter told me about 30 minutes ago she felt her rolling again and is back to her favorite position.
I had to go to town and was talking to this lady who was telling me that her second child was transverse and they had scheduled a c-section at 39 weeks because they did an ultrasound at 38 weeks and she was still transverse. Then on the day of the scheduled c-section, she told them she thought she had moved and the doctor felt and thought so too and they did another ultrasound to confirm and sure enough she was head down.
They told her they were going to go ahead and let her go into labor on her own and canceled her c-section and sent her home. As she was leaving the hospital her water broke and she gave birth to her 2 hours later.
So I guess you can’t ever count them out from getting in the right position. The doctor had told her there was no way she would be able to turn because she was too big and didn’t have enough room.
The doctor had also kept telling her that because she measuring so small she would only weigh about 5 lbs, although the ultrasound was measuring her to be 6lbs. 8 oz, she ended up weighing 8lbs 1oz.

I knew my son was going to be a good sleeper, even as an infant, because when I went to bed at night I would lie on my back for a little bit and he would be squirming all around. My husband would call him by name and tell him “your mother is tired and needs to go to sleep.” I would turn on my side and he would make this big turn and settle down. He never woke me at night.

A friend of mine married when she was very young. Her periods quit and the doctor tested her to see if she was pregnant. He said she wasn’t. They did some tests and told her she had a tumor. But, she got bigger and bigger and eventually gave birth to a big baby. I don’t know why he kept denying she was pregnant. I think they were supposed to do an operation, but she kept putting it off.

Doctors are often stubborn and think they know more than they do.
I knew a lady once who was given 3 or 4 pregnancy tests and they kept being negative. She was 6 months pregnant before the doctors would accept that the tests were wrong and she convinced one to listen for a heartbeat.

You’d think not.
My daughter has been doing the things they told her to do to try and get her to turn.
She’s ordered a pregnancy belt as well because they said sometimes your ligaments can be loose when you’ve been pregnant before and it causes the baby to do that.
I don’t understand why after she was head down, she decided to flip around anyway. I’m glad she moved up, but sure wish she she hadn’t moved into this position.

I remember a friend telling me her second granddaughter was something else. The older sister was maybe 3 or 4 and was always taking the little one’s toys away. The baby couldn’t even sit up on her own yet. So, one day, the older one reached into the playpen and the baby waited until she got to where she could reach her hair and grabbed her on both sides and wouldn’t let go. The older child left her alone after that. The grandmother felt like the baby knew exactly what she was doing.

My two oldest daughters less than 2 years apart used to whine and fight over board games. I warned them several times to stop and that the winner was the winner and the next game might be different.
It did no good. So I told them the next time they fought over a game ALL their games were going to be donated to a local thrift store.
Of course the next game they got into a fight.
So I gave them each a garbage bag told them to fill them up with ever single game in the house we then drove to the thrift store. They cried the whole way there but they had to hand them over to the workers who looked like they felt awful taking them from two sobbing little children.

Emeli Sande. Owned that CD for a while.
Pretty sure the album is Christian. Crypto. As in, not on a “Christian” label.
Like Mumford & Sons. Like many more new artists.
Here’s Emeli describing Christ, or a good man.
Barnhardt said years ago that a good song is one you can imagine God singing to you, or you singing to Him, or one you wouldn’t be ashamed to sing to someone, in front of Him.

Yes, but all his dogs were named for Egyptians, and that is a hat tip to Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon.

Isis and Pharaoh were yellow labrador retrievers, who belonged to the Crawley family. Both dogs shared a very close connection to the Earl of Grantham, as they are always beside him. As of 1924, both dogs have passed away. In 1925, the Dowager Countess gave Lord Grantham a new dog named Tiaa. As Lord Grantham says to Edith, Tiaa or Tia’a was an Ancient Egyptian queen during the eighteenth dynasty of Egypt. She was the wife of Pharaoh Amenhotep II and the mother of Thutmose IV.

Freddie Gray case: Judge allows malicious prosecution lawsuit against Mosby to proceed
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/freddie-gray/bs-md-ci-mosby-lawsuit-to-proceed-20170106-story.html
A federal judge is allowing key parts of a lawsuit against Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby, brought by five of the six police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray, to move forward.
U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis ruled that claims including malicious prosecution, defamation, and invasion of privacy can move forward against Mosby and Assistant Sheriff Samuel Cogen, who wrote the statement of probable cause.
Mosby’s attorneys had said she has absolute prosecutorial immunity from actions taken as a state’s attorney. But Garbis noted that her office has said it conducted an independent investigation.
“Plaintiffs’ malicious prosecution claims relate to her actions when functioning as an investigator and not as a prosecutor,” Garbis wrote.
Other counts, such as false arrest, false imprisonment and abuse of process, were dismissed, as Garbis had signaled he would do at an October hearing. All claims against the state were also dismissed.

So far the MSM’s still rather silent on the US, in particular the State Department, interfering with Putin’s 2012 election as a motive for his messing with Hillary’s election. Pure payback.

A take on the Ft Lauderdale airport shooting. The MSM’s been whining tonite on flyers actually getting to fly with guns checked as baggage. They were saying that the ability to do so should be reviewed.
I fly with firearms frequently though there’s generally on one pistol and one rifle I’ll fly with as they are both registered to me. My AR with one upper goes with me as I can UPS seperate uppers to my destination and be assured they get there. I can’t send the receivers, have to fly with it as I’m prohibited from shipping them except to someone with a FFL.
The problem comes in when I disembark the plane, I have to make a mad dash to the baggage claim as my gun case as it goes onto the baggage carousel along with all of the rest of the stuff from the hold. It’s obviously a gun case, no mistaking it, and if I’m just traveling with a pistol the pistol case looks like a pistol case or some sort of case for electronic equipment. You have all of this special crap you have to go thru when you check in but once the airlines get it it’s treated like you suitcase with the dirty undies in it.
I’ve tried to get them to move the gun case to the office to be picked up – no go. Once, going to Denver, my luggage and gun case were put onto an hour earlier flight as the flight I was on was overbooked and there wasn’t enough room for all of the baggage. I didn’t know until I got to Denver and a note on the board in the claims area told us that some of our baggage, no specifics, had arrived earlier and was available at the other end of the claim area. I had to wait and see what baggage of mine was being offloaded just in case my gun case made it. Nope, suitcase did but no gun case. I take my suitcase and walk to the other end where the eary arriving crap’s stacked and yup, there it is, along with another rifle case, dozens of packed ski sets and not an airline or other security person in sight.
It’s at the point where I am looking at leaving a rifle and pistol at the homes of friends and family where I hunt, it’s easier than legally trying to travel with one.
