Lowes has one, a battery type. Works pretty darn good. Speed 1 is good, 2 a bit better and gets most leaves etc, fairly well.
Speed 3 I think you could strap on a small skiff and cruise the everglades.
Has about 15-18 mins of power this way though, so you’d have to get where you’re going fast.

Roger that, I’ve found that just letting God’s landscaping system take its course each season has its own look. I will run over excessive amounts of leaves to advance the composting process and do a late winter mow followed by a burn to free up the ‘lawn’ for resurgent grass but that’s about it. As the local honeowner’s committee spends much of the year eating my plantings they don’t complain.

I have a small patio with about a 2 1/2 ft planting area surrounding it. I just sweep the leaves around the plants. Other people scoop up the leaves, put them in plastic bags, and into the trash. Then, they go out and buy expensive mulch to put around the plants.

            • czarowniczy says:

Yeah, wecwere picking up those bags, tossing them into the truck and bringing them back for composting until we found out that too many homeowners don’t read the labels on weed killer andvother lawncare products and overdose.
BTW, if there’s anyone out there using horse stable manure for compost/fertilizer it’s best if you check with the supplier (stables, not the horse, sheesh) to see if the fields the horses graze in are treated with weedkillers like 2,4-D or glyphosate. Sems horses grazing on treated fields will concentrate the weedkiller or byproducts in their urine and manure and sorta mess up your repurposing plans.

Back in the 70’s, we bought a house that had never had anything grow in the back yard because they had scraped off the top soil when they built the house. So I ordered some manure. We wanted 4 yds, but they charged the same for 4 as they did for 14. So I took the whole load. (I didn’t know what I was doing). Our house was on a 1/4 acre lot. That is one fourth acre. 14 yds is a lot of manure. But, I had a great crop of weeds, and a great garden (after I personally spread, with a shovel, all 14 yds.)

Should have advertised the extent of the manure in your yard, DNC could have booked it for their Convention as their platform was already in place.
Lotra folks don’t catch on that seeds pass thru cows/horses intact and that after they spread the fertilizer they’re gonna get new plantings. I still get surprises each spring, but then most of our place is au natural anyway.

You can tell that Hillary and her followers generally have no idea about how business works or how people generate wealth through work.
Trump is a billionaire businessman and is building a hotel in Russia, probably the first in a string. He’s negotiating funds transfers, payments, loans, the whole spectrum of money movement in a business environment. What do they think he does, trot down to the corner bank and sit patiently as he waits for some loan clerk to serve him?
I’m betting this woo-woo bugaboo private server is just a secure commo link set up between his green eyeshade folks and a section in the Russian bank he’s dealing with. The bank isn’t going to put a billionaire building a big-ruble project in line behind Ivan the rubble man, Trump and anyone else in his league will get direct service. He and the bank are not going to publish the existance of that secret server for obvious security reasons, but then Hillery has her own issues with scret servers and having them hacked. Think she’d realize that…

I really do think Chris Matthews was being genuine in the video I posted above. He couched it in terms that wouldn’t get him fired, and that wouldn’t get him tarred and feathered by his viewers, but I think moods are changing at all levels. Those that feel safe enough to do so are abandoning Hillary. Those that still fear career suicide, or even worse, suicide where they shoot themselves in the back of the head, twice, and leave their bodies on train tracks, are being more judicious about how they change their views in public.

Today is All Saints Day. I attended morning Mass at the church in the next village over. In a very “old school” Catholic manner, the church bells tolled for 10 minutes before the start of Mass (as if to say “hurry up, you stragglers!”) and then they tolled again during the consecration of the Eucharist — annoucing to those not in the church that the high point of the Mass had been reached.

Also, the collect was for the local hospice in Zug. My dad has home hospice care right now in the US, so it was a very coincidental, and moving, moment.

    A true RINO…

John Kasich votes John McCain for president

By Jessica Chasmar – The Washington Times – Tuesday, November 1, 2016

Ohio Gov. John Kasich followed through on his promise not to vote for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, instead casting a write-in vote for 2008 Republican nominee John McCain.

Chris Schrimpf, the governor’s political spokesman, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Monday that Mr. Kasich voted for Mr. McCain for president and voted straight-ticket Republican on the rest of his absentee ballot.

The vote was a symbolic one, given that the Arizona senator is not among the 18 certified write-in candidates in Ohio, the Plain Dealer noted.

    Hussite Wars

    “…
Vast knightly armies were mobilized and sent into Bohemia, only to find themselves confronted by one of the most innovative and successful military systems of all time, the “wagenburg” (wagon-fort). This system was the product of the tactical genius of Ian Zizka (1359?-1424), who was the first general to win battles using gunpowder. A seasoned professional soldier, the one-eyed Zizka developed a military system based on the use of large, stoutly built wagons. This was a technique he had learned in Eastern Europe, which Zizka supplemented by extensive use of firearms, including both cannon and infantry small arms, plus a discipline not seen since Roman times.

Czechs weren’t happy Communists, I’m betting they made this movie as part of an ongoing attempt to keep Czech nationalism, vice Czechoslovakian/USSRian, alive. Russians did the same with movies like Battleship Potemkin, they’d bust it out for popular viewings whenever the commissars felt thry had to boost Russian nationalism in the face of a perceived foreign threat. We used to have people counting the number of tines certain key words were used in State pronouncements and how often certain movies like Potemkin were being shown.

I got more caught up in the origin of “pistol” and “howitzer”

        Like

        • czarowniczy says:

Yeah, both words have lost their original meanings. Czechs always have been super weapons makers, when Germany ocvupied them in WW II they had Czechs make many weapons for them and the rifles and pistols they made were every bit as good, if not better, than the ones made in Germany. Czechs made improvements on Bloc weapons too, and their current sporting handguns and rifles are of superior quality.
