I’m a little confused as to what he is talking about “bleaching” and the “acid washing”.
My understanding was a software program was used to delete specific files in a specific way from the hard drive of her server(s). There is some dispute as to if what the programs did was actually enough do make the files unrecoverable.
If he is talking about some other method that uninformed people have created to market their consulting engagements with high fees, then that is something new that hasn’t been in the news.

I’m not watching this rally but I remember reading that the process Hillary’s minion used was a sophisticated component of Bleach Bit. A very expensive process that uses a program which is like applying an acid wash to certain parts of the computer’s memory actually making those bits irretrievable.

I have no idea what I’m talking about or how it would work but I read it somewhere 😎.

Ah, OK. I think that is from a marketing description on their website. Basically it doesn’t do that. The developers of the software seem to argue that taking the time to do a milspec level overwrite of the sectors on the spinning disk are not necessary since no one has proven (to them?) that you can retrieve a file from the level of effort they do.
I remember back in the 80s-90s there were a lot of special programs you could use to view data on sectors of a disk. I think I still have some of them in my library. There were other programs that could retrieve files deleted and overwritten years later using inference from nearby sectors not deleted and targeted to be overwritten. But now my comment is getting into the hardware layer of personal computer technology rather than the operating system (OS) and filesystems.
