That looks suspiciously like a Lipton’s tea tag. But it’s the thought that counts! (And 4 and half more minutes of steeping.)

4 minutes for black tea is what I like, it’s considered English style if steeped for 4 minutes and Chinese if steeped for 5. Herbal teas are not even true teas they are bastages 😜 (by the measure of tea).
I have a friend who owned a tea cafe for about 15 years. He was crazy about steeping for the proper amount of time. When I would get my tea to go and ask them to leave the bag in because I was on a time crunch he would always if he was there roll his eyes and say something about not blaming him if it was bitter 😄.

Don’t be thinking this is on the transgender path;
it’s not. It’s a natural path since childhood. Am still
able to mentally taste my Gramma’s ice tea at the

Newman’s Own Ice Tea/Lemonade is very close.
Enjoying a chilled tea, as am typing my post. 😉

OK, I’ll fess up, we drink tea. Being in the deep, English-cultured South it’s lsrgely iced tea but hdden behind the 55-gallon drums of ground coffee we have green, black and white teas. Yeah, yeah, I know…iced tea ain’t tea ‘cept to us Southerners but if y’all lay off’n that iced tea thang we won’t go on about iced coffee.

Presumption down here in non-Yanqui-owned restaurants is that you’ll be drinking iced tea with the meal…only question is ‘sweet or unsweetened?’.

Around here there is no question. Everyone it seems except my husband and I drink sweet tea. I do not like sweet drinks. Not coffee, not tea. I like it just fine as it brews up. But if this became common knowledge my neighbors would drive me across the Mason Dixon line and leave me there.

When I went to upstate NY with my husband, his family laughed at me because I asked for iced tea for dinner in the winter. The laughers were all drinking sodas. My relationship with the in-laws kinda went like that the whole time.

Robert Frost admired trees…
The Sound of the Trees
Robert Frost, 1874 – 1963
I wonder about the trees.
Why do we wish to bear
Forever the noise of these
More than another noise
So close to our dwelling place?
We suffer them by the day
Till we lose all measure of pace,
And fixity in our joys,
And acquire a listening air.
They are that that talks of going
But never gets away;
And that talks no less for knowing,
As it grows wiser and older,
That now it means to stay.
My feet tug at the floor
And my head sways to my shoulder
Sometimes when I watch trees sway,
From the window or the door.
I shall set forth for somewhere,
I shall make the reckless choice
Some day when they are in voice
And tossing so as to scare
The white clouds over them on.
I shall have less to say,
But I shall be gone.

I have oaks, loquats and maples that I grew from acorns/seeds that are from trees that Katrina destroyed. A couple of oaks just flat took off, they’re about twenty feet tall as much wide and I’ve babied them from day one. Now there’s as much tree below ground as above and each one sucks up and spits out an amazing amount of water. One ag guy, three years ago, estimated our trees pumped out about 1.2 million gallons of water a day into the air. They are amazing.

Worst thing about this is that evacuees, many of whom have never had to evacuate for a storm before, will be less likely to evacuate next time. We had evacs that accounted to zip before Katrina and when K came there was a lot of hesitation – I won’t go into how city government screwed the evac of those who couldn’t. Now that NOLA has a ton of new residents with zero background in hurricanes, residents who are bombarded with political speeches about how the current pols have worked to make the city more hurricane resistant than ever before (where have we heard that before?), the next call for an ecac should be even more interesting than K.

I heatd in more than one college class that large farm-families were a necessity as infant and adolescent mortalities were so high on old time farms they had to have al lot of kids to make sure enough survived to work the farm/ranch. Also postulated that the coldnes so often reported between farm/ranch fsthers and mothers toward their children was due to the knowledge that they needed large packs of children but many of them would die.

Them gummint m-ployeez ain’t doin’ too well either. Their Fed health insurance has gone thru the roof. Many years ago Sone of us pushed a suggestion that instead of ‘self only’ and self and family regardless of hiw many dependents we have’ a third option, ‘self and one’ be added. It would mean that a man with a wife but no kids, or a sole parent with one child wouldn’t be paying the same premium as a man, wife and 23 sons/daughters. The ‘self-one’ option should be more than ‘Self only’ but less than ‘self and family’, right?
Well the Feds fonally went and done done it, probably some big GS or SES suggested it and his bros approved it and gave him/her a big bonus. The Fed health insurance big wigs at OPM sat down and worked out the premiums and…..viola!…..’self and one’ somehow became so expensive that HR peopke were telling chosing ‘self and one’ that they’d save a LOTTA money by sticking with ‘self and family’ instead.
And these people worry about Trump with his finger on the button.

Little known fact about Katrina is that the Feds sent a lot of their LEA down here to assist in ‘search and rescue’. Many of these folks were engaged in breaching operations, breaking into locked and secured houses of evacuees to search for victims, many teams quoted that they got more hands-on training breaking into houses the few weeks theybwere in NOLA than they did in two years out in the field. Of course once they broke in to your house thry thoroughly tossed it while ‘searching for victims’ and it wasn’t really secured when they left. No telling how many houses were looted due to looters seeing an unsecured house and taking advantage of it. Of course if the Feds found anything untoward in your house once they broke in….welllllllll.
Then there’s the issue of the city government not havingbthe legal basis for forcing people to evacuate, a hole they desperately want to plug. The city was so pissed that it couldn’t force residents out at gunpoint that it soent about as much effort harassing those who stayed as it did trying to contain the storm damages. We’re still a heavily Red state but the Commissars are looking at using, among other excuses, the potential of child endangerment as in ‘you must take care to evac and take your children to safety’ to lever an ‘everyone must evac under the law’ mandate. A totally empty city at the complete disposal of pols from every level of government…what could go wrong?

Ours learned a word I wish he had not learned at the races. One night a man in front of us was yelling at a driver, “You suck!” Now we can’t break him from saying, “You suck Nanny, You suck Mommy, You suck Daddy, You suck Papa!”

I guess my background is what leads me to get the GGKs used to naughty words soonest so that they lose their word-power early on. I tend to use their measured introduction as a verbal vaccination sonce elements in public schools use them to verbally overpower kids who haven’t been exposed. Comes as a surprise to the offenders when their targets don’t recoil in shock. Just some of those New School Age skills you have to teach kids such as how to use certain school supplies as defensive tools and how to make their application seem an accidental response.

I see where you’re coming from. All families have different views on that stuff. I had a very strict upbringing. My grandmother made me pick a switch when I said darn as a kid, which to me is not a big deal, but she thought it was. I was being a stinker and defiant so I deserved it, but I also raised my kids ultra conservative. They heard and saw plenty but have kept the same values as young adults.

My parents both were frontline WWII vets, my father and his co-airmen were 8th AF vets except for one who was a Bataan Death March survivor. I got a fill of practical military English at a very early age – I was told at least one of my first words contained a fricative.
The old dirty word standards have morphed and I don’t see that genus ever going back in the bottle, I figure that the least I can do is prepare them for the eventuality, as if they don’t hear it in the school and on the street as it is. Defuse, demystify and depower the speech.

I’ve noticed that people now will say anything and everything in front of kids. Most people in public places controlled their language when my kids were little. So, unless he never goes anywhere he’s going to hear the words, just got to hope he doesn’t find all of them words he seems to like.
This suck word for whatever reason seems to be one he really likes. We all are trying to ignore it, hoping eventually everyone doesn’t suck. lol

I have a niece-in-law that will only eat organic, grass fed beef, that were humanely raised and slaughtered. I asked her what humanely slaughtered even meant and she said they were killed without pain. I asked her how they killed them and she said she didn’t know. I asked her how she knew it was pain free if she didn’t even know how they were killed. She got flustered and angry and said because they said so. lol

I call her a hippie all the time. She probably buys organic baby clothes. I do know when her daughter was a baby she was ordering some kind of hypo-allergenic disposable diapers and wipes that were environmentally friendly. My nephew griped all the time that she paid 3 times the price of Pampers.
I told her to buy disposable diapers and use wash cloths if she really wanted to be environmentally friendly and she gave me a long drawn out line of bs about how it takes less energy to make these diapers than it does to wash diapers and somehow they supposedly turn to some kind of dust or some crap not filling up the landfills.
I told her she was using a diaper genie that has horrible plastic bags that are not environmentally friendly. She got mad and told me she was trying to save the planet for her children and I was doing nothing.
I can’t help myself with her, she’s too much fun to get flustered.

I worked in a lawn and garden store a few years ago. The new rage was bio degradable flower pots. Spend fourteen dollars for a pot that is going to fall apart in two years! There was no way I could sell those with a straight face.

My sister bought one of those by accident. It was a hanging basket. I guess if it’s supposed to take two years, this was an old one because it fell apart dumping all the dirt and her expensive plant on the porch.
She went back to throw a fit and was told it was bio degradable and needs to be placed in another pot.
I couldn’t help it and couldn’t stop laughing. I was there when it happened and went with her to the store. I laughed when it happened and I laughed when they told her and I laughed for days after.

I worked for a year for an RV parts distributor.
That whole game is a racket.
Every single cheapo plastic part is absolutely meant to break down in a year.
Every one of them is also marked up about 400% like it’s Avon or Amway.
I can find you any Ford Mustang from the 1980s and the taillights still aren’t cloudy.
Buy an RV. Wait a year. All your clearance light covers are cracked and faded.

Yes sir, it is all meant to be replaced, not repaired. The day will come when you can’t even open the hood on a vehicle. The other thing that drives me insane is electric vehicles. A month or two ago during a storm, a hybrid car was struck by lightning on the turnpike and caught on fire. They decided it had to be because of the electric battery. I just chalked it up to one more reason I wouldn’t own a hybrid.
I’ve drove many miles in my day during storms and not once been struck by lightning and yet they said it was more common than most people know of electric cars and hybrid cars being struck by lightning.

Pull them all, cut them down, whatever it took to make them not go to seed. I went by a few weeks later and his entire field was burnt black! I asked him what he used and he said bleach!!!! I asked the moron if he knew that he had just killed his field from growing anything for about 5 years! You know Chlorine is on the periodic table? You know dimwhi,t a chemical?

A few years ago we had so much squash that I was giving it away. We were having a garage sale and I had baskets full of it with a sign that said free.
This very annoying lady started asking if it was organic and she couldn’t eat anything that wasn’t organic, she went on and on forever not giving me a chance to answer her question. When she took a breath I told her I spray our squash plants with DDT that’s why I had so much of it.
She looked like she was going to have a stroke and stomped to her car mumbling something.
Someone else asked me if that was true, I told them no, DDT was outlawed. There actually was nothing on the squash, but people who are getting something for free shouldn’t be a pain about it.

I love it. We had two lades come in from the West Coast ( Washington) and they bought a couple of fragile items. My teller, who’s husband was the manager at our recycling center, wrapped her purchase in a plastic bag. Note, said plastic bags were biodegradable. the two women went off on us like we had just killed a puppy. I took the items out of the bag and wrapped them in bubble wrap. They left the store telling us how they would bring us around to the right kind of thinking. The teller and I laughed for half an hour!

What I’ve noticed is those who make the claim that their produce is organic is double the price of their neighbor who doesn’t have an organic sign.
It’s even worse at the grocery store where often it’s 3 times the cost.
