Like much secular music, they understand the problem, and yet are unwilling to see the only solution. If there is no Gospel, then Dust in the Wind is absolutely spot-on.
Except… Kansas became A.D., a Christian band. Funny, that.
Here’s a song by Kansas (from Leftoverture) that talks about knowing that you’re about to jump over a wall, and that after everyone behind you sees it, they will want to come, too.

When Lindgren wrote Dust in the Wind he knew it was a lie.
Because he knew the Truth. Makes it more meanin’ful in that light, don’t it?
Christ is the answer to the problem of Dust in the Wind.
The whole song is like a Hebrew Old Testament rhetorical question, with an implied answer. (cf. Proverbs 31:10)

Pink Floyd is genius.
I know this is in actuality a song about a drug overdose. Although I think the larger vision is about a near death experience where one chooses to stay or go.
Your lips move but I can’t hear a word your saying. When I was a child I had a fever my hands felt just like two balloons.
I had this exact experience as a child and almost died. The doc said it was a matter of hours not days I was so sick. Every time I hear that line it brings the experience back to my mind. Fleeting glimpse.

Switching from actual, perforated sheets of “food stamps”, because that’s what they were, to an EBT card was also a “dignified alternative”.
Funny, that.
Now we’re going to have Homeless Meters, where people drop quarters in slots.

We knew what was coming. That is what makes the ride fun.

One of the prime reasons the Feds switched from paper stamps to EBT was that food stamps had become THE de facto second currency in the country. You’d bust any illegal operation like a drug ring and you’d find bundles of food stamps, in ‘some’ areas it was easier to find fiid stamps than cash-cash.
Also, crooked food stores eould buy them for cents on the dollar and cash them in. With EBT it’s easier to electronically check purchases on the EBT against the stores’ records. Doesn’t stop it, just makes the crooked process mo’ easier.

Mornin’!
The hotel/motel we stayed in at Branson had free hot breakfast, we walked down and looked at it and it was pale scrambled eggs that looked to come from a microwave or box, sausage that was either microwaved or turkey sausage and powdered gravy and biscuits that would make Ellie Mae’s look appetizing. We passed on the free and went to Shoneys.
We had stayed there before but it had been several years ago and now they’re under new management. They better learn to manage better in a hurry or they will fail. They give you two bath towels, two hand towels and two wash cloths and won’t answer the phone when you call and ask for more towels. My son, daughter, son-in-law and grandbaby stayed in one room, we had to go get pool towels for them.
Then about 5 in the afternoon we all had gotten back to our rooms after swimming. I had just gotten out of my swimsuit and someone knocks once on the door and then opens the door. I dive for the bed and cover up, my husband was sitting on the end of the bed about to put his clothes back on and he dove under the bottom of the covers.
This lady says she’s just checking to see if someone is in the room and then asks if we want a sign on the door. I tell her I would appreciate her shutting our door and getting the hell out.
Once again nobody answers the phone, so I go down to the front desk and am told they are sorry but they’re under new management and are working on a new system. I told her how about a system where people don’t use a pass key barging into rooms, by this time I had learned she done the same thing to my kids telling them she didn’t think anyone was staying in the room and would let them know it was occupied.
I’ve stayed at many places and never had that one happen before. Didn’t think about in the middle of the afternoon needing to use the little latch thing, but did after that. We tried to find another hotel but couldn’t find two rooms available, so were stuck at that point.
At least it was clean, is about the only nice thing I can say about it.
The rest of the trip was fun though, my grandson had a ball on the ducks and the train. He got to pet the animals at the zoo, he liked everything but the snake and told his Daddy to kill it, which cracked us up, but I don’t think anyone else found it as funny as we did.

I’ve noticed it’s getting more common. The Mrs. and I jokingly call out “housekeeping” now when we walk into a room and the other is in some condition that would be laughingly awkward in a hotel.

It was quite crazy and once you see the room is occupied you’d think you’d say sorry and close the door, not ask questions about a sign.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I like the ones that have a delivery to your room, see the do not disturb sign and try to open the locked door, then beat on the door to get you to accept the delivery. On the off chance you are in the shower, they will call several times from the front desk.
Then they will pick up the fallen do not disturb sign and replace it on the door.
LikeLike
I guess I learned a valuable lesson, always use the lock that prevents them from barging in.
We didn’t even have a sign until she arrived and then when we went out we had a do not disturb sign on the door.
I’m still trying to figure out why that time in the afternoon they’d be going to the rooms anyway. Checkout is 11 a.m. and check in is 2 p.m.

My DH was the one who needed a cool head once the shock wore off.
He gave his two cents as well when we were checking out, but his were she’s lucky she wasn’t shot. To that he got that would have been tragic to which he replied, “not really, she wouldn’t be barging into rooms anymore.”
The folks about to check in looked like they were second guessing staying there. lol

We pulled off the road one night on a trip. There were conventions in town and we couldn’t get a room anywhere but this motel. I had grave misgivings as soon as we went to the desk. The people were wearing mideastern garb and I have no idea where they were from, but boy were they rude. We only stayed because my husband was too tired to drive any farther. But, we were glad to get out of there. He said after that, that we would never again stay any place where the people at the front desk were rude to us.

When we got there we found out it was ran by middle eastern folks, it was so nasty we never even unloaded our suitcase. We had to pay a cancellation fee, but it was worth it to not have to stay there.

Big thing in NOLA last November, made Time and international news too, was the shooting of a medical student who came to the aid of a woman being assaulted and dragged to a car by a thug. http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2015/11/police_release_video_of_tulane_1.html
Thug shot the student in the stomach and, while the student was on the ground in pain, tried to shoot him again but his gun jammed. Thug took off and the next day kidnapped, at gunpoint, a man and a woman whom he forced to drive to a remote parking lot and repeatedly raped them both.
Police caught hom, he’s charged with six counts of first degree rape, attempted murder (student lived), carjacking and a hostbof lesser crimes. If NOLA courts treatment of thugs charged with violent felonies is precedent he may get a few months in jail and some community service. Sound bitter? Yeah, I am..

Am I just missing the reports on the nightly/noon MSM broadcasts or are y’all not hearing about US airstrikes targeting ISIS chemical weapons storage sites and the possible use of a mustard gas filled rocket by ISIS against US troops?

They are ignoring it. It doesn’t fit their narrative that the world is falling apart under Obama and Hillary promises more of the same.

The rocket landed a few hundred meters away from an airbase the US troops were repairing for use (whaaaaaat?). First test on fragments tested positive for mustard gas but, as with any number of instances during Desert Storm, subsequent tests proved either negative or inconclusive. Oops, my bad, ALLEGEDLY proved negative or inconclusive.
With as large of a chemical weapon stockpile Syria and Russia had stored there obe wonders how much of it has worked ita way outside of the Mideast for use at a more propitious time?

The primarily black ‘Take ’em Down NOLA’ group, dedicated to removing white-related monuments from the city, is saying it will go to Jackson Square this weekend, will violently move to destroy Andrew Jackson’s iconic statue, and have warned, warned mind you, NOPD to stay away during their ‘peaceful’ protest.
Rub here is that the pre-warmer, fuzzier, PC pol administration such an ‘in yo’ faze’ insult to the city and PD would have been met with a ‘y’all wanna try dat’ response. No telling what this group will do.

I don’t think this is a handbag I’d want, but I did know a woman when I was a kid that had her dog stuffed and her cat turned into a wall hanging, she might have liked it. lol

OMG.
In my grandma’s basement when I was a kid, there was a handbag/purse made out of a whole baby alligator — head, eyes, and all.
But that? OMG. Something wrong about that. I’m looking at my Tripod on my bed right now, thinking, “Handbag?” SMH. :shudder:

I remember seeing that book in the library. Maybe I’m warped, but it made me laugh.
I’ve seen lots of odd things in my lifetime, so the handbag didn’t really get me riled up. I found the lady’s stuffed dog creepier. Her skinned cat complete with head hanging on the wall was pretty creepy itself. In someway since they were pets made it odder to me.
I still have my mother’s mink coat and fox stole, because I found them both the coolest thing ever when I was a kid. She saved for years to buy them.
