As he couldn’t get Congress to agree with him, Obama’s unilaterally banned the Federal cemetaries from flying the Confederate battle flag. From what I see it bans them from flying it from any fixed flag poles so individual flags may still be able to be placed on individual graves.
Still time for him to order every Confederate grave opened, the bodies exhumed and their remains ground into powder to make drywall for public housing…better not give him any ideas.

Neglecting development and refinement of the mind;
Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do.”

Remember what Bill said about Hillary and how rough it was for the smartest, most capable woman on earth to withstand a few questions about her direct responsibility in perpetuating the deaths of Sean Smith, Chris Stevens, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.
Rather than remarking on 4 American heroes Bill praised Hillary’s surviving questions.
BILL CLINTON, D-FORMER U.S. PRESIDENT: — like it blame Hillary. It is amazing what they put her through. But in those 11 hours she stood with the seventh committee, she proved that she was tough enough to be president. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think there’s another figure in America could have done that.
No Bill, 13 hours in Benghazi proved that Hillary is not worthy of anything other than exile or prison.

A couple of updates on the Philando Castile shooting. Castile was buried in St. Louis yesterday.
http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/philando-castile-remembered-in-hometown-of-st-louis/article_0a746709-c8f0-5e3e-8aa0-7b1f42fc5f22.html
The ACLU is going after the dash cam videos.
The St. Anthony PD has refused to release the dash cam videos. From the above link.
“St. Anthony has previously stated that it would not release the video because it’s considered “investigatory data.”
“The act also states that “investigatory data” — data used to prepare a case against someone — can be withheld. But the act said “arrest data” could not be withheld as investigatory data.”
Investigatory data — data used to prepare a case against someone is the key take out from this article. Castile is dead, Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds appears to be in the clear as far this incident, that only leaves Officer Yanez.

It seems like from a brief reading that St. Anthony PD is within its rights to withhold the dash cam video as the current investigation is being conducted against Officer Yanez. All the t’s are being crossed and i’s dotted.
The ACLU can ask for the footage but it is protected under Minnesota Statute Subd. 7.Criminal investigative data.
https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=13.82
If no charges are pressed against Officer Yanez the video will become public domain. If the ACLU or the Castille family choose to file a wrongful death/civl rights violation lawsuit against Yanez and or the St. Anthony P.D. then the video can be used if it is of value to them. It seems to me at this point it is within the courts power to not release the video as the criminal inquiry is objectively about Officer Yanez and at this juncture the ACLU has no right to the evidence in an active investigation that they have no standing in.
LikeLiked by 3 people
I agree completely with the legal points you make. However, the fact that the authorities are using this exception in the law so as not to release the video is troubling. This action indicates to me that there maybe a good chance that Officer Yanez will be criminally charged in this case.
If the content of the video exonerated Officer Yanez’s and justified his actions, I don’t see them using this exception to hold on to the video.
I may be wrong, but I’ve had a bad feeling about this case from the start. I have yet to see any new information that is obviously favorable to Officer Yanez.
Time will tell, take care.

You may be right oldiaguy and you have on hands experience and knowledge that I don’t have. I am hoping that it is pretty cut and dried and the delay is to “assure” the BLM thugs that every stone was overturned and the case is being gone over with a fine tooth comb. I’m hoping that they are exhausting all possibilities and they are hoping and praying that there is not another riot when the facts bear out Officer Yanez’s story.
Castille did have a gun in his lap. Officer Yanez is saying “I told him not to go for it!”
This is what Diamond says “He let the officer know that he had a firearm and that he was reaching for his wallet and he just shot him in the arm.”
If those are the unencumbered facts I can’t see an indictment coming down on Yanez.
If you have a gun in your lap you don’t get to reach for your wallet, chances are IMO that is escalated very quickly, Officer Yanez probably didn’t see the gun immediately and Castille may have already been reaching for his wallet when Yanez told him not to reach for it. I believe in most circumstances Yanez would have saved his own life by shooting, Castille may have been the exception but Yanez doesn’t have an obligation to take a chance with his own life, his lawful responsibly is to act as a reasonable officer would act under the same circumstances.
I’m sure officers are on edge.
The violence of BLM is getting black people killed.
Now if you think that Yanez may be a sacrificial lamb then all bets are off.
Do you think it may have been a bad shoot?
LikeLike
lovely,
I don’t have enough facts to be certain whether it was a bad shoot or not.
As I’ve mentioned a few times during our discussions relative to previous police shootings, that an experienced street officer or investigator can usually read a scene and have a pretty solid idea what occurred. So I’m assuming the investigators that are working this case have a solid idea what occurred and will be attempting to see if the physical evidence confirms their analysis.
I don’t know if the authorities are being over cautious, too afraid to make the decision on their own or if there is evidence of criminal misconduct on Officer Yanez part. From what I can see from a distance, there is not a lot of statements or evidence to digest in order to come to a conclusion whether or not this was a justified shooting.
In this case we have the statements of three witnesses who were present during the shooting, who I’m sure have been interviewed and their statements transcribed.
Then we have the statements of the responding officers concerning what they did, saw, heard and found at the scene.
We have the video taken by Castile’s girlfriend and the police dash cam videos.
We have the autopsy and tox results on Castile. (Tox results may not be back yet.)
We have the ballistics report on Officer Yanez’s weapon.
Then we have Castile’s clothing, personal effects at the time of the shooting and some assorted documents/records.
We have the recovery information and gun trace info on Castile’s pistol. Remember that the police report said the pistol was recovered from Castile’s person and that the photos show the pistol was lying on the ground next to where the officers were rendering aid to Castile.
If that pistol was on his lap like many assume, then that would have been the first thing the officer(s) should have seized and secured before removing Castile from the car. I can not envision any competent officer not seizing and securing that pistol if it was in plain sight on Castile’s lap.
If the pistol was still concealed somewhere on Castile’s person and discovered after Castile was removed from the car and placed on the ground, then I could see the officer(s) removing the pistol from where it had been concealed and placing it on the ground behind them while they rendered aid.)
There maybe be more, but this is all I can think of at the moment. As far as shootings go, there is not a lot here to evaluate. I’m surprised that the authorities have not yet come to a decision whether it was a justified shooting or not. The amount of time it is taking to make a decision troubles me.
If the statements and evidence shows that it was a justified shooting, then Officer Yanez, the Castile family and the public have the right to know that as soon as it is confirmed, so they can go on with their lives. If there is some doubt or it looks like it may be a non justified shooting, (Manslaughter) then I can see taking it to a Grand Jury as the authorities are doing.
Time will tell, take care

True. I am guilty of drawing that conclusion from Officer Yanez’s behavior including keeping his gun pointed toward the car and telling the girlfriend not to move. If it was “tucked” in Castile’s lap, responding officers may not have seen it as Castile was slowly sliding and slumping over so the gun may have slid underneath his pants/lap. His pants look baggy.
Anyhow I’m not trying to get you to share a conclusion one way or the other just interested in your view with experience.
Thanks and take care.

I might also suggest…medicine. If you have any kind of a condition that requires meds I’d suggest a 90-day supply on hand. That means you’re gonna have to have extra as, if the event occurs before your insurance plan authorizes your next refill, you may have a problem.
I have hurricanes with the specific Katrina tag to use in getting my doc to prescribe extra meds that I filled out-of-pocket. Most of the meds I take are older ones with generic versions and the expenses were minimal. I bought the first supply (30 out of a 90 day scrip) and immediately had the mail-order plan fill thecregulsr 90-day supply. I take the older ones first, rotating my stock. Pharmacist told me it helps to have them in a cool environment so I kerp mine in a ziplock bag in the egg compsrtment ofbthe fridge. By buying that extra 30-day dupply when convenient I now have my extra 90-day supply.
Ditto antibiotics, I have bottles the doc’s prescribed that were over and above. Properly stored they ladt quite a bit lobger than that ‘best if used by’ date on the bottle, that has more to do with marketing and stock thru-put than efficacy, DoD studies showed that antibiotics under proper storage conditions can easily last for years.
I’d also, look at the cheaper ‘field surgery’ kits on eBay. I have two, both were very inexpensive and work well for people or animals under tight conditions. There may be some time when he minor cut-and-tape can’t be done at the urgent care store.
If you’re gonna store water it’s best if you also have a way to treat it. Even bottled stuff from the store might turn in 90 days. You can bet that stuff you’ve drawn from the public supply and stored will turn well before 90 days. I keep iodine tablets and the Katadyn Micropur tabs. I also have ceramic pump purifiers and keep bleach around. I really don’t like to,purify drinking water with bleach but if push comes to shove…bleach’s also great for cleaning up, you’d be amazed at how fast your life gets funky when all the power goes down.
I’d also look closely at how much water you’re planning on storing. I’d look at the best estimates, take the higer ones and up them by 20 percent. You tend to move atound a lot more in a survival situation and without the nicities of clinate control you transpire a bit more. You’re also going to want to clean up and you are going to ve doing a lot of ‘helmet’ bathing. BTW, we found that clean 5-gallon buckets positioned to catch rain runoff provide great bath water – a cover prevents bug and animals from dropping in and a dab of thst bleach kerps the water from turning green. BTW2′ if you store water in 5-gallon or better containers stacked two dep or better around the wall it helps mitigate the effects of any bullets that might cone in from outside, especially if you’re sleeping lower as in on the floor.
Though we’d tossed around the idea of a prepper thread sometime back…or was that next doojuur?

Something I hadn’t thought of.
Over the course of the program’s first pilot year, participating students received an average of 50 loads of laundry each, and 93% of them increased their attendance rates — with those at the greatest risk of dropping out averaging an additional 2 weeks of classroom attendance compared with previous years.
Kudos to Whirlpool.

Stella: I particularly like today’s photo because of the “sectioning” of color horizontally — stunning contrasts!

David Seaman looks and sounds very nervous. At least he is aware that he is in danger.

Dr. Drew’s show has been cut and he has been threatened.
Martin Shkreli has totally backtracked his opinion on Hillary’s health.

I turned over to the Weather Channel to see how the tropics were. Surprise, it’s Hermine 24/7. Looks like their prime audience is the NE corridor, when the weatherguessers were tracking proto-Hermine in the Gulf it was largely a ho-hum item, now it’s churning in the upper Atlantic and threatening to….horror of horrors…get the NE….WET!!!!!!!…
Inagine…rain and wind in God’s Promised Land….quick, Al Gore, save us before the rains dampen our expensive sneakers. Why, we’ll watch thev24/7 coverage so that we can get the comforting skinny on how to manage getting wet or having our expensive do’s blown about. Our lives have become so dependent upon others that we can’t even manage a rain storm.
OK, that’s out of my system.
