    Serious reflection for the night:

    “…Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity…”

                  I trust with faith and hope in the times you speak of, and pray for the grace to withstand the times czar speaks of. I believe both are coming, and I can only pray for strength to hold true. Fortunately for me, I only have to find the will to accept His strength, which will always be sufficient to the task.

                I think about that quite often, since I already feel like I’ve had a good bit of carving and grinding performed on me. But it obviously can get a whole lot worse. I’m almost glad I’m not younger now. In fact, I AM glad. Maybe I won’t have to face the decision to deny God or get my head chopped off. I want to believe I’d have the strength to do the right thing, but I’m pretty sure God would really have to pour it into me.

                Every day I sit here and watch what looks like the whole world just coming unglued.

          My two cents.

          I’m not of the mind that God is in control of everything or we wouldn’t have free will. God could through a miracle change things but He is content to let creation unfold in all its glory and all its gore. Though He is the Master, God chose to give up control. He has the end plan but for now we are to exist between the cross and the resurrection and live out our unfolding creation using our free will.

          God has made a covenant with us and in that covenant he has granted us the power to fail and we have done so mightily. We have also succeeded beautifully. I am of the mind that there is a continuously fierce and active battle for the soul of our world and it is raging at all times, waxing and waning in its intensity, I believe we are currently in a flare up.

          Christ called God the Father, “Abba” it is more literally translated to “Daddy” rather than the more formal “father” but on the cross Christ called out to Elio or Eli “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means, My God, My god,why have you forsaken me? Many scholars believe at that moment when Christ bore our sin his connection to his Abba was was lost and only his connection to a merciful God could be accessed which is why he felt the full forsakenness of sin. Christ himself did not call out to God as his Abba when he was the embodiment of the sins of humanity. Others may have valid disagreements with this viewpoint but it is one I share.

          Anyhow I believe that Christ gave us a lesson when he called out to his God, when he felt forsaken, and that lesson is it that it is ok to acknowledge the darkness when it surrounds us, to cry, cry out to God, to accept that this moment is as dark as hell even if redemption is on the horizon. I believe God allows more than he chooses to control.

          I’m sure you know most of this but I am referencing things to make my thoughts clearer. I hope 🙂

            lovely–

            Thank you for reminding me that I should be more precise w/my choice of words when talking of eternal things. When I said God is in “control”, I did not mean that He is like a puppet master with all of us on strings. What we do/don’t do impacts everything. Our choices matter.

            What I meant to say (but said poorly) is that He is, and always has been, the ultimate Victor. Because He is outside of time, in eternity the battle with evil is over. Satan lost. But we live IN time, in the thick of the battle. In a mysterious way, which I hope we will understand better after our death, our participation most definitely matters, even though the final result is sure and immovable.

            We should not despair; we need to keep focused on Him, and on the work which He offers to us to do for Him and for each other. We need to stay engaged in the battle, but do so with hearts full of courage and certainty.

                    I used to have a preacher that every Sunday when Bill Clinton was President would say, “I believe God expects us to pray for our leaders, even if our leaders are immoral, I also believe we are to fight against their immorality, but with that said lets pray that Bill Clinton will allow God into his heart and be a moral leader, just think what God could do with this powerful man.”

                    Unfortunately it seems Bill Clinton has kept his heart shut off from God.

    Good morning! I promise not to complain about our hot summer weather. After all, it could be February and snowing!

    Donald Trump is speaking at the VFW convention at 10:00 am today. Live stream is already up. Three events tomorrow – a town hall in Scranton, PA, at 3:00 pm, and a rally at 8:00 pm in Toledo. There is something going on with Reddit at 7:00 pm; https://www.reddit.com/r/The_Donald/.

    And, of course, The DNC Convention continues. After yesterday, it will be interesting to see if things get better – or worse – for Hillary.

    EXCLUSIVE– Amish PAC Endorses Trump, Launches Billboards in Pennsylvania

    http://www.breitbart.com/2016-presidential-race/2016/07/26/exclusive-4/

    Amish PAC endorsed Republican nominee Donald Trump and launched billboards in Lancaster, Pennsylvania — west of Philadelphia where the Democratic National Convention is being held this week.

    “Pennsylvania has a good shot of going Republican in November and these billboards will certainly help by getting people registered and to the polls,” said Ben King, the outreach director for Amish PAC.

    The goal of the billboards is to educate Amish and Mennonite voters about Trump.

    Roughly 95 percent of Amish and Mennonite voters are Republican.
