    Seems Queen, thecremaining Beatles and the Rolling Stones are upset with Trump over his unauthorized use of their songs st the RNC. Queen likely supportsvthexRats as thry’ve made HIV a sacrament, Sir Paul and Ringo are probably just looking for any opportunity to get their names into the public’s mind other than their obits and the Stoned…errr…Stones should be glad to see themselves in print outside of a Namenda or Naloxone commercial.
    Some commentator mentioned, at the end of the their righteous rant, that Trump had bought the licensing rights to the songs and could do what he wanted. As of yet nothing from the injured cultural icons, guess they just don’t deal well with reality and truth.

      I got involved in a discussion about this yesterday on FB. I found this article (from NPR) from a couple of years ago. It’s interesting. My opinion is that they have a product for sale, and if the proper licensing fees are paid they should shut their traps. How do they feel about a baker refusing to sell a cake to someone because they don’t share their politics? How about a sporting goods company refusing to sell tents and sleeping bags to the Boy Scouts based on politics?

        I know, I was just whining anout how they went into high drudgery as Trum
        /Republicans used their music instead of their more culturally aligned Rat bros. I don’t remember anyone from Fleetwood Mac whining when Bill used ‘Don’t Stop’ in ’92. Then again Clintons have proven they have the same lack of moral fiber as many in the music biz.

      Trump is covered. The vast majority of venues have already paid flat fees that enable them to play the music they choose….

      To solve this problem, copyright holders organized themselves into broad performing rights organizations. Today, the three major PROs have licenses for the vast majority of music published in the United States. So if you run a concert venue — or, for that matter, a restaurant or bar that plays background music — you can pay a flat fee to these three organizations in exchange for the right to play basically any music you want.

      Copyright experts say campaigns don’t need an artist’s permission to play their songs at rallies as long as the political organization or the venue has gotten what’s known as a blanket license from the performing rights organizations ASCAP and BMI.

      The license isn’t for a single artist but for all the music in the licensing group’s repertoire, which is staggering. ASCAP represents over 10 million musical works from over 525,000 songwriters and composers. BMI represents 10.5 million musical works created by more than 700,000 songwriters. The license is for the right to perform the song publicly.
