According to the power company we had a stick on the lines. I haven’t been down The Driveway From Hell yet, so that could literally mean a stick, or it could have been a small tree or big limb. I didn’t hear anything fall, but the thunder was so bad and the rain so fierce I doubt I would have heard anything away from the house. Since the ground is so dry, I am hopeful we didn’t have any more trees go down. That usually happens when the ground is fully saturated.

Since the power company made it up the drive at least I know I can get out and the driveway is clear. It would so be my luck to have a tree go down when my husband is gone for a week. I guess I might be watching youtube vids on how to safely operate a chain saw. 😀

22 June, Jefferson Parish deputy spots a perp shadowing a target. Deputy stops and frisks perp but as pat-down’s in progress perp spins 180, reaches into his waistband, pulls out a revolver and shoots deputy in the back. Deputy falls to ground and starts to crawl away. By his own admission skel then grabs deputy by neck and hair, stopping him from crawling to safety, and shoots him twice more in back. When questioned perp says he killed deputy as he was on parole and didn’t want to go to jail. When asked why he shot deputy three tomes he says because he only had three bullets in the gun. Deputy had wife and children.
Local press carries story but also shows cell video of officers on top of perp as they arrest him, one seemingly punching perp in the face. Press reports that he’s in the hospital being treated for a fractured orbital socket. No mention that perp refused to comply and had to betaken down. No mention that while face down they couldn’t get his hands out from under him, had access to his waist, may still have had his gun…see where I’m going here? As reporting on the deputy’s death rolled along so did the reporting on thevperp who ‘may have suffered excessive force’ during hiscarrest. The parish sheriff, a professional, referred the excessive force case to the FBI for investigation and has the shooter transferred to another parish for holding, as he should, and the local press makes it seem as if not only were the perp’s rights violated but his case being transferred to the FBI seems to i dicate there is something wrong. Nada from the local pols.
Fast forward to 5 July. A Baton Rouge homeless guy calls 911 to report a vendor outside of a stop-and-rob pulled a gun on him. Police respond to a ‘man threatening with a gun’ call, take him down and dhoot him in the process of the arrest. A short and possibly edited video’s shown as the press creates the impression the police shot him without reason.
Within hours the BGI’s out holding what seems to be well-rehearsed press event condemning the murder of yet another innocent black man at the hands of the racist police. Press is endlessly showing part of the video, without sound, that shows an officer on top of the perp pull his gun and shoot him. Shortlybthereafter the state’s new acivist/populist Democrat governor comes out, before the autopsy’s completed or the ink on the order to begin the investigation on the shooting’s dry, and gives a speech that seems to support the BGI’s opinion.
Double standard? You betcha. An attempt to socialy engineer the public into forcing changes in the US police system to more of a Brit/EU mode? Most likely. Making the country safe for institutional Kleptarchy? I think so. Suporting my GGS’s desire to follow family footsteps and become a police officer? I think not.

I understand the anti-antibiotic kick but some doctors take it to far. I have a UTI, did what I’ve always done for bladder infections, drank a lot of water and cranberry juice but it wasn’t going away. So I went to the doctor this week to get antibiotics and was told to wait it out. I had already waited it out almost a week.
Today I went to urgent care and finally was prescribed antibiotics but was prescribed Cipro which has scary side effects so hopefully just three days worth won’t blow out my achilles.
I was just going to take fish antibiotics if another doctor told me to wait it out.

Heck, I might just start going to urgent care anyway, it was cheaper than the Dr. visit. Doctor charged me $120 for visit and lab, urgent care only charged me $60. I sure miss my doctor who retired due to Obamacare.

I think cephalexin was what they gave to me the last time.

I actually am tons better today, but just to be on the safe side I’m still taking antibiotics. Not the cypro though, I called back down to urgent care and told them I wasn’t comfortable with it and they called me in a prescription for Keflex.
I don’t know if they made a mistake or was being nice but it has one refill. So from one doctor refusing to prescribe antibiotics to another giving me a refill. lol

Garlic and cinnamon tablets are helpful in killing off bacteria in the body. I learned about the the garlic from my Calbrian friend and the cinnamon from my Greek friend. My Greek friend called me when we lived in NC and a hurricane was coming and told me to put some garlic in the tub (water for flushing in case we lost power) and the cinnamon would keep bacteria from growing.

After the hurricane I asked her more about it and she told me her family puts cinnamon in everything and that many Greeks did it and that is why they are so healthy.

Since I had that allergic reaction to Clindamycin, I am highly paranoid. The doctor gave my son something for pneumonia once and also prescribed something to keep him from feeling sick from the other meds. I read about it and was appalled by the side effects, tremors and convulsions, either temporary or permanent. He was about 15 and I told him I didn’t want him to take it, but I would leave it up to him if he wanted to take the chance of the sick stomach instead. He didn’t take it and was fine. His older best friend said he had once taken it and started shaking so hard he couldn’t stop. Thankfully, it wasn’t permanent.

Yes, and they knew about that side effect from the beginning, I believe. Our doctor at the time wanted to prescribe that for my son when he was about 15. His acne wasn’t really all that bad, but the doctor was worried about his psychological well being. I asked my son how much the acne bothered him and he said not at all. That ended that. And, it did clear up and he is as handsome as he can be. Oh, and psychologically very healthy.

Too many prescriptions have too many side effects that then need to be attended to by other prescriptions.

I’ve had several surgeries (over 1/2 a dozen) and I have a very low tolerance for pain and a very high tolerance for pain pills and medications. I always tell the doctors this and make sure that the anesthesiologist is informed. One anesthesiologist to whom I was a number and not a human knew I was wrong and gave me the standard anesthesia and I woke up on the operating table 😐

I am just the opposite. When I was giving birth, the nurse insisted that I needed something to help me relax. I finally agreed to it, but told her to only give me half. She did, I went limp, but was still slightly conscious, and then my husband said she got this look on her face and she pushed the rest of the syringe in. I went totally unconscious, the contractions quit completely, and the baby’s heart rate dropped. I was completely out for 2 hours.

Makes you wonder. When I had a colonoscopy, they said to count backwards from 9 and I think I said “9” and they told me to wake up.

So, as an aside, Mrs Nyet had a bunch of oral surgery and occasionally implants and such get infected. We had leftover antibiotics that were a year or three old. I had to do some deep research, but the takeaway of it was that many of the medicines made and sold now have an active ingredient that makes the medicine worthless over a short period of time, but others are actually good for 12-15 or more years. It seems what we had on hand was in the later category, but had been phased out and replaced by the stuff that costs more and has a short shelf life. I’m glad we had it, because it probably saved us a grand in fees, but we wouldn’t be able to get away with that going forward.

Several years ago my husband had several surgeries, they’d prescribe him one antibiotic in the hospital and then 48 hours later when he’d return to the doctor he’d prescribe something different.
        He had several different prescriptions.
Anyway 3 or 4 years later I had some kind of infection, don’t remember now what it was, but the doctor prescribed me erethymycin after I told him it gives me severe stomach cramps. He made the claim this time would be different because they were coated better. Sure enough they did the same thing and I ended up in the ER getting a shot and they wouldn’t prescribe me a different antibiotic. I didn’t want to spend the money to have to go back to the doctor and argue again.
So I started taking some of his cephalexin, it worked.
I have an old neighbor who would never go to the doctor and if he got sick he would buy fishbiotics and take them. He never died.
So I’m seriously considering them. I looked and the expiration date on them for fish is 2017. lol

I don’t have the documents in hand, but as I recall someone in the Army several decades ago wanted to know if all the medicines being stored after WWII were any good. The testing came back with “depends upon what it was”. Some stuff never expired (or hadn’t expired as of the date of testing), Some stuff was averaging good for 12-20 years, and other stuff was averaging 3-5 years. Depended upon how it was stored and lots of things.
For safety I think they picked the lowest range average number of each item as the official expiration or rotation date. Most shelf life listed today are based on these 1950-60’s numbers is what I got from the whole thing. There was a list of product names and medicine types. I had to combine it with information I gathered elsewhere about the modern products.
Again, it had been just to find out if the medicine we had at the time was still good.

Back from gettin’ my hair did, the Costco’s and my quiet favorite B3. Was just lookin’ at the picture up top. Seems to me to be a metaphor for all the shiite goin’ down in our great Country. An ill wind is blowin’ in.

Being the optimist that I am, I do not sense that we are going to be able to ever claw back the place that we all grew up in. We have less than a 10% turnover in layabout Senators and Congresscritters each cycle. We have over 2.4M fedgov employees, the vast majority of whom are as much, if not more, a part of the problem.

I read the other day that there are over 17M local, state and federal gubmint employees. Most of whom work as though they are at the local DMV. The rest of ’em are the ones who are truly up to no good.

We certainly know what’s in store for us if the Hilda-beest gets in office. More of the last eight years, but on steroids. I hope and pray that if DJT gets in the Casa Blanco, that he does what he says he’s gonna do, like put real conservatives on SCOTUS. But we see where the current Chief Justice ended up, and that’s under Dubya. (who, for those who didn’t know, was not a conservative)

If Trump gets in, he can’t clean house and fire all those layabouts. You couldn’t fire one if you caught them red-handed whackin’ their own momma on national TV. How would one go about cleaning out the stench in the DOJ, EPA, DHS, and on and on.

The strongest guy we ever had couldn’t get it done, and I don’t for a minute think our guy this time is anywhere near the reincarnation of Ronaldus Magnus. We don’t have but 2-3 Senators who at least talk the way we think they should. Maybe 2 of them actually believe what they’re saying. Maybe.

It is very small and I can only do so many clothes, but like you said, there is only me.

Earlier this year my washer broke, and I replaced it. The VERY FIRST load in the new washer? The dryer broke (but it could be repaired).

I hope I never have to do without a washer and dryer again!

I just go, “Hey, I need my washer fixed and somebody rushes over to fix it.” Yesterday, after the guy fixed the air conditioner, I told him it was a good thing he could fix it because I would have held him captive until he did. He said that if he couldn’t fix it, he would have brought over two air conditioners, one of the downstairs and one for the upstairs until it was fixed. 😯

When I was working, I would shop for groceries on my way home, usually. Now I have to get dressed, drive to the store, shop etc. Most of the time I don’t feel like it.

While I was sick the last 10 days, I discovered that the delivery service I thought was here is not. They tried it in the Miami area and in Tampa. I thought I read that it was doing well in Tampa, but someone told me they had already discontinued it. So, I did without a lot of things until I felt strong enough to go to the store yesterday. I DIDN’T go to Walmart.
