But globalism was never liberalism, nor was it intended to be by its architects. As its core, globalism has always meant rule by illiberal elites under the guise of mass democracy. It has always been distinctly anti-democratic and anti-freedom, even as it purported to represent liberation from repressive governments and poverty.

Scotland gets so many freebies from the EU. It’s going to be tough now.

That’s why I wonder why Scotland thinks that the EU would accept them as a partner, should they secede from Great Britain.

Annnnnd…..we’re back to my previous post. Soon as I heard that the vote to leave the EU was positive I was sure that the Scots would be looking hard at another vote to secede. Big reason their last Unass the Empire vote failed was they’d lose EU membership, now they have to secede to get membership. I’m betting Wales is looking at a secede vote too, whatta mess this may turn out to be.

Keep reading below. The EU has stated that they aren’t interested in having Scotland, and that it is unlikely that the member countries would approve them.

Other thing is there are lots of Scots who want to be a seperate nation again. At least as a seperate nation they’d get to keep control of their national income, they’re no worse EU-wise as a part of Britain or alone.
The EU elites want Britain to stay and will try to scare England’s occupied territories in order to put pressure on the Brit government and people but if push comes to shove would the EU allow breakaway states to join?

I love Scotland for many things but, as Z-Mike pointed out, they receive far more benefits from the EU than they contribute. Does the EU really need another country like that?

Again, Scotland’s no worse off going it alone as when Britain jumps dhop thr losevthe EU freebies. Will Scotland’s exports to EU countries end? I don’t think so, can’t see all those EU scotch drinkers suddenly shifting to something else, somthere might be a bit more tax, thry’ll pay it. Ditto with that Scotch salmon, some of the best in the world. Will those foreign companies suddenly pack up and move, will foreign investments dry up and blow away? I think not as Scotland, free of EU restrictions, could make foreign investments very attractive.
                    We’ll see…

Of course, they will also lose the GB freebies …

Of course, if there business climate is as robust as you are saying (and they do have many fine export products), then they won’t need freebies, right? Which begs the question – why are they receiving them at all?

Outta reply space again, it’s probably a sign.
Scotland’s cut off from the freebies when Brtain pulls out regardless. Scotland can start doing what Ireland did and make the country attractive for outside business, and I don’t see existing outside business bailing.
We also have the attractive option of Scotland being an independent nation again, we’re aporoaching 310 years since England swallowed Scotland and the question of whether they’d like to stay Brit subjects or be Scotch citizens looms. What sacrifices will a people make to be independent, owning their own lives again?

      As usual, Fred nails it.

…We know Muslims kill Christians. We know they stone adulteresses to death. We know they drive airplanes into buildings. We know they mutilate women. We know they bomb airliners. We know they destroy historic monuments. We know they kill their daughters for losing their virginity. We know they kill homosexuals. We know they make coordinated mass attacks on cities. We know they are incompatible with societies of the First World. We know they have no respect for our laws. We know they hate us.

Knowing all of this, what do we do? Why…of course! What else? We import more of them. Nothing could make more sense. Ten thousand Syrians, coming to your neighborhood. Thank you, Obama. Thank you in advance, Hillary.

Thanks for the link, Mary. I don’t remember often enough to stop by Fred’s place.

    Brexit: Why The Globalists Lost

    http://www.breitbart.com/milo/2016/06/24/the-end-of-globalism/

Here at Breitbart, we always knew it would be OK. After all, Britain has a well-documented history of standing defiantly against tyrannical continental empires. We defeated the Spanish Armada, Napoleon, the Kaiser and Hitler. We were a bulwark against the USSR during the Cold War. Compared to all that, the low-energy efforts of crusty octogenarian globalists like George Soros were a walk into the park.

Admittedly, doubts crept in when Lindsay Lohan started livetweeting in favor of Remain. I mean, they already had Bob Geldof and Bono from U2 on their side! How dare voters defy the wishes of these philanthropic titans? Thankfully, even their tireless tweeting couldn’t pull it back for Remain.

By the way, reading some other articles, it seems unlikely that the EU would accept Scotland as a member on its own (if they succeeded with an independence vote).

      http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/24/top-eu-leader-we-want-britain-out-as-soon-as-possible

Could Scotland stay in the EU?

Proposals for Scotland to become an EU member are already opposed by Madrid, which fears it would encourage Catalan secession. A previous Commission president intervened in the Scottish referendum campaign in 2014 to warn that states which split from existing members would find it “extremely difficult” to secure the consent of all EU countries.
Nor is it clear if Scotland would have to leave the EU to re-apply – new members are required to adopt the euro. There is precedent for an EU member state splitting and part remaining, however: Greenland left what was then the EEC in 1985 after achieving home rule from Denmark. But it took three years to complete.

Let’s see. I’m not saying the EU will take them in but as dependent upon exports as Scotland is they may see leaving as the best option. Why do lemmings jump off cliffs?
The Catalonian mess is of Spain’s own creation, it makes me wonder if screwed up politics are a Spanish genetic trait. They’d also be faced with the Basque mess too, but Europe’s been an aggregate of weaker people held in place by stronger people for centuries. Then again, how much longer do you see the EU lasting?

Daily Signal: See How Your Senators Voted on 4 Gun Control Amendments

    http://tinyurl.com/j8o9oo7

“The Democratic alternative would not ensure due process, protect our constitutional rights, or require the government to periodically review its procedures to ensure it’s investigating the right people,” McConnell said.

Democrats, in turn, shot down Republican alternatives that would have required the government to prove probable cause within three days to block a gun sale to a suspected terrorist and increase funding for background checks. They argued the proposals were insufficient half measures only intended to help Republicans who receive donations from gun groups to save face.

Herewith, a simple way to understand the destructive failure of most reading instruction in the United States.”

    Herewith.

I tend to read texts I like out loud, since I live alone, and why not?

I bet the vast majoity of actors, voice-actors, newsreaders, radio DJs, and politicians didn’t learn with the “whole-word” method, but instead with phonics.

I can read Mychal Massie essays and pronounce every word perfectly. Even the few in each that I’ve never seen, and either figure out because of known etymology, or context.

This article is amazing. Each written word is an individual phonetic circuit, telling our mouth-parts, vocal cords, (chords? I wish), and lungs what to do, left-to right.

“Written words are to the human voice as sheet music is to a pianist.” — Wooly Phlox
