Some of you may know about the Gosnell Movie, a crowd-funded movie being made by husband and wife film makers, Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer, and their partner Magdalena Segieda.  Their previous documentary films include FrackNation (the truth about fracking), and Not Evil Just Wrong (about global warming).

The Gosnell Movie is close to completion. I am confident, based on regular  updates from the filmmakers, that is was well researched, and will be a fair and true representation of the facts surrounding the arrest, trial, and conviction of Kermit Gosnell, the notorious abortion doctor in Philadelphia.

Their latest update is bizarre. It seems that Dr. Gosnell is suing journalists and prosecutors for “libel, slander, and ‘monsterization'”. Report from the Gosnell Movie team (Facebook):

ABORTION doctor and Convicted Mass Murderer Kermit Gosnell is suing his prosecutors, a newspaper and several journalists claiming they destroyed his reputation and “monsterized” him.

Gosnell, who a jury found allowed almost full term babies to be born alive and then cut their spinal cords with scissors to kill them, is serving several life sentences in a Pennsylvania Prison. It is believed he killed babies in this manner for decades – ABC News described him as “America’s most prolific serial killer”.

In a ” Civil Rights Complaint” he has filed in the District Court in Pennsylvania’s Eastern District, Gosnell claims the Philadelphia Daily News, reporters Dana DiFilippo and Ronnie Polaneczky and prosecutors Ed Cameron and Seth Williams defamed, slandered and libeled him. In the typewritten four page complaint, obtained exclusively by the Gosnell Movie production team, the doctor claims the Philadelphia Daily News “utilized malicious sensationalism without regard to truth or factual evidence for financial and circulatory gain.” He accused the newspaper of “demeaning and monsterizing” him in front page headlines, articles, editorials and cartoons.

He further accuses reporter Dana DiFillippo of “demonizing” him with a “cavalier disregard of the truth and factual evidence”. The lawsuit alleges she did this for the advancement of her career and the profit motives of her employer.
Gosnell also claims irreparable harm has been caused to himself and his family by the demonization and “rectification and compensation” are warranted.

The lawsuit also alleges that reporter Ronnie Polaneczy showed a “flagrant disregard for objectivity, investigative journalism, or truth.” Gosnell further claims “irreparable harm” has been effected on him and his family and “rectification and compensation is warranted.”

In the complaint Gosnell claims that Polaneczy’s articles with headlines such as “Kermit The Hog”, “Abortion Docs Latest House of Horrors”, “stench of faces(sic)” and description of him as an animal were defamatory and injured his reputation by exposing him to “hatred ridicule and contempt”.

In addition Gosnell said such articles ignored his “unyielding community medical service, spanning forty years” which was “considered renowned” by local residents.

Gosnell does not mention in the complaint that he is also serving several life sentences for operating a pill mill – supplying dangerous drugs to local addicts for profit.

In the complaint Gosnell also accuses District Attorney Seth Williams of “personal misuse of official capacity” pushing the case because of his “pro-life beliefs” and to gain the support of the “right to life movement”.

We have reached out to the individuals mentioned in the complaint and are awaiting their response.

In an email I received this morning from Gosnell Movie:

We have visited him in prison and what an experience that was – he was behaving inappropriately towards Ann and singing her French love songs! As journalist we have done many jailhouse interviews but this was one of the creepiest.

However our job as journalists is to get to the truth of this story – so we have kept in touch with Gosnell as we have been developing the film. He has Phelim’s cell phone number and calls regularly to update us on his thoughts or his latest appeal because he still believes he is innocent. It really is quite an experience to be sitting chatting to family and have to break off the conversation because America’s most prolific serial killer is calling…

This is the mind of Kermit Gosnell. He has been convicted of killing babies in one of the most heinous ways possible but believes it’s the fault of the media and “pro-life” prosecutors.
