The “Brexit” vote was held yesterday, and I haven’t yet seen the results. Personally, I lean towards exit, but I am a nationalist and believe it is the best way for Britain to get a hold on immigration.

The vote is today. Still too close to predict but the biased press is saying GB is likely to stay in the EU. Terrible weather across much of Britain today so those used to putting effort into their day are more likely to get out and vote.
LikeLiked by 3 people
Yeah, most polls lean towards ‘stay’ but the margin of error’s enough to make it a squeaker.
Question is, what will the inbred Brit elite want? They ain’t too much on that democracy thing, they did much mo’ betterer under the inbred regency system, the idea that subjects would challenge God’s order by daring to believe they could choose for themselves…well that’s just unnatural! Let’s see what they can do to move this to their benefits. Sorta like ZRINOs with better table manners.

Immigrant citizens are also largely in favor of ‘stay’, because all indications are that immigration will be significantly slowed if Britain is independent. They have a large immigrant population.

Family Plans to Destroy Stockpile of Inherited Guns and Ammo Worth Millions, Lawyer Says
https://www.yahoo.com/gma/family-plans-destroy-stockpile-inherited-guns-ammo-worth-232706532–abc-news-topstories.html
Family members set to inherit a stockpile of guns and ammunition, worth millions of dollars, plan to destroy the weapons “to send a message,” their attorney Daniel Brookman told ABC News today.
“They want these instruments of death to be destroyed,” Brookman said. “They don’t want these weapons out on the street.”

Let’s see how they feel once they find out how much it’s going to cost them to destroy that ammunition. The guns shouldn’t be much of a problem but the ammo contains lead, a California no-no, and the primers and powder are chemically problematic too. The state may make the grand effort to pay for it but in an already cash strapped state would the tax payers go for it?
LikeLiked by 3 people
I was wondering about that. How do you destroy ammunition?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Wouldn’t you just put it in the gun and shoot it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t believe the family members believe that guns should be fired, and even if they did, who is going to shoot thousands or millions of rounds of ammunition just to destroy it? I’m sure the family would not allow it to be used for target shooting. They won’t even donate the guns or ammunition to LE. They want the instruments of death destroyed 🙄

Most all of it from .22 rounds to big bombs is done the same way – breaking it down into components and dealing with each. With regular ammo you remove the bullet and set it aside where it will be melted down for the lead and copper cobtent. Powder’s poured out where it’s either burned or, at relatively great expense, into fertilizer. The case is generally soaked on a liquid that wil deactivate the primer allowing it to be safely punched out though sometimes the casecwith deactivated promer’s sold for copper/bronze scrap. Problem is the primer, and the liquid used to deactivte it, contain lead which creates disposal problems. When Clinton was busy gutting the Army millions of rounds of ammo stored for war readiness were deactivsted and dold for scrap, I bought some and reloaded it. Thry sold the cases with deactivated primers, kegs of the removed powder and boxes of the removed bullets sold by weight. All of it, except the primers, we’re still good and all we had to do was reassemble the ammo and hontomthe range.
Your tax dollars at work.

Hmm.. I wonder how high the family horse will remain when they find out that they can’t just wrap 1,500 guns and 6.5 tons of ammunition in grape leaves and feed them to the gods of lunacy but that they are actually going to have to pay big bucks to have the “instruments of death” turned into fairy dust.

Some days I just have to laugh at the little ironies of life and old age. I used to be the one with all the lists. I had so many items, like having the Cloud in my head, which needed to be done, that I had to have separate lists with different headings. Sometimes I had five or six lists going. Of course, many of the items to be done needed to be done by my husband or my children, when they were younger and at home. Things did get done. Little things that many people will just forget until it’s an emergency got done, because if it even popped into my head once or twice…it went on a list. But I wasn’t all the way to the extreme of being psychologically nutty and totally obsessive, even though it may sound that way. I saw the reality of how most of life went, but I wanted to try to see that things eventually were dealt with. I filled calendars that would go out three months, so that appointments wouldn’t get crossed up and weekly tasks and projects could have times marked out to get done, and people wouldn’t be going to the grocery store every day because we ran out of something. The lives and needs of four people, a house, and animals had to be taken into account. The house had to be cleaned on some sort of schedule or we would live in a chaotic, unsanitary pig pen. The yard, the repairs, on and on.
My husband, exactly the opposite of me in this trait, would do something as it popped into his head, or if it was a thing he liked to do. He really didn’t like my lists, for obvious reasons. Neither of us were lazy people. We would go from the time we got out of bed. It was just difficult to go in the same direction. We did a lot of negotiating. Sometimes it would get heated. I used to tell him he might not like my lists, but if I weren’t using them, his life would be a real mess, because he had no idea of how much stuff I took care of which smoothed his daily path. There were times when I would spend almost the whole day on the telephone or email, arranging doctor’s visits for everyone, resolving issues with the schools or bill problems or faulty appliances, ordering all those filters or printer ink, paying all bills before deadlines, tracking everyone’s medications and making sure prescriptions and renewals were done on time.
Now those days are gone, and I have no lists. I am still able to keep the bills paid, mostly, before the deadline. My calendar is all the doctor and dentist appointments. Aside from knowing approximately where the clothes I wear right now are, and where my stuff is in the bathroom, I don’t know where anything else is. Our house is pretty much a chaotic pig pen, especially since my husband is laying laminate flooring all by himself. My husband and adult daughter, who is living with us right now, are very perplexed and sometimes upset, because they come and ask me “where is this thing” or “did this get washed” or “I’m out of my medication” or “why is this appointment scheduled when I have this or that other thing to do.” or “we’ve run out of dog food!” (which we have to order online.) Since I know them, I know that they’re not going to change their ways and learn to take care of things in advance for themselves. They don’t live with that person anymore, the one who was all over everything that was going on, the one who irritated them with those lists. Now my husband is coming to me and saying we need to set aside time to talk about banking things or scheduling different appointments. The irony is obvious, but I don’t feel all justified or like it’s payback time. I don’t feel guilty that I can’t do all that stuff anymore either. I love them, and I accept how I’ve changed. It does engage my sense of humor, though. Most of the time, it’s just….LOL!

You could suggest that they start keeping lists and calendars.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well, I tried that suggestion for years. Like I said, they just aren’t that kind of personality. To me, it makes sense, even if only to keep up with one’s own things, but I learned , like Tundra says, not everyone is made that way. One of my big learning experiences has been to understand this and let it go.

If they aren’t responsible enough to take care of their own things, they can look in the mirror and complain. They are adult and able bodied.
LikeLiked by 2 people
That’s why I LOL!! It’s only when it interferes or interacts with something about me or something important to me that I have any issue. If they are just messing themselves up, it’s their problem, unless it ends up draining unnecessary $$ out of our bank account. It’s in my own interest that I try to keep up with my husband’s medicine, for example. If he runs out of some of them, it ends up being hard on me, with his moods. My daughter expected me to make doctors appointments for her, like I did when she was young. I just told her the doctor’s names and said “have at it.” She has to learn to take care of these things, but my husband still has to drive her to work and school, because we won’t let her drive our car and she can’t afford her own yet. There is no public transportation. She gets rides when she can. This can cause scheduling issues, where people don’t share info. The two of them are constantly getting mixed up.
I do take on some responsibilities for my husband, things which I can still do and which he doesn’t do too well. He has to do so much for me now, many caretaker-type duties. He doesn’t complain, and I have to reciprocate as well as I can, when he forgets to tell me things I need to know. Now I’m starting to forget things too, like Tundra says “collective dementia”. We collectively forgot to check a tax filing, and that one was bad because it cost us big time. Other than that, it’s still mostly funny. 🙂

Pam and Stella, I’ll amend my comments below to say that I think there is a range between total no-listers and obsessive list-makers; DH and I are somewhere in the middle. We keep calendars and schedule most everything; we don’t keep and frequently update “to do” lists. Happy medium, I guess. We also don’t complain when something falls between the cracks of our attention. Fortunately our collective senile dementia is early enough that the cracks aren’t too big yet…

Pam, I’ve always admired and appreciated list-makers. I’ve wanted to be one. I’ve tried to be one. For us no-listers, it just doesn’t work. But most of us do recognize on some level how much you list-makers help us out. My husband and I are both no-listers, and there is a random quality to our life wherein much does not get done in an orderly fashion. Somehow we manage, since it is just the two of us. One day I’ve got to get organized!

I used to be a list maker. At work, I could not have done without my daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual lists of things to do!
Now I’m retired, and slacking off big time on lists. Now I’m more like my mother, who always said “the dirt will still be there tomorrow”. I do always pay my bills on time, however!
LikeLiked by 4 people
Yep, the dirt is still there tomorrow. And it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to. Clutter and confused stuff everywhere bothers me. I’ve had to live with clutter for so many years, because our previous house underwent extensive remodeling, mostly by my husband. Things kept getting moved in massive amounts, from room to room. We got it in perfect shape right before we sold it. This house was supposed to be easier, but then we had to have the mold remediation, so all the carpet had to go. It would have gone eventually anyway, but I would have been able to sort and place and get rid of things first. Lol, I used to clean the bathroom floor on my knees, often the kitchen floor. Toothbrushes to scrub around faucets every week. My attitude has certainly changed.
LikeLiked by 2 people
My mother was like that and as a kid it drove me nuts. She scrubbed everything and everything had to be in it’s place. My biggest rebellion during my teen years was moving things an inch that sat on the tables and shelves. She’d run around moving it and griping about things being moved.
My sister is a lot like her, but it kind of turned me opposite. I was determined I wasn’t going to be like that and my house was going to look lived in. Sometimes when my kids were little it looked a little more than lived in, but I learned the fine art of shoving things in the closets, in toy boxes and under beds if unexpected company showed up. lol
My mother though was bad even after I was grown, she’d want to come to my house and look in my closets and dresser to see if everything was placed neatly. I finally shocked her one day and told her if she didn’t quit snooping she was going to find something she didn’t want to find. There really wasn’t anything but it stopped her from rearranging my stuff. When my kids became teens she started in on them until I finally told her it made them uncomfortable for her to go through their things. She never looked at it though as going through your things, but as putting your things neatly in place.

Forget about getting organized, in my opinion. If you two have made it this far, it must work pretty well. You’re right – you either are one of those or you aren’t. I’m learning a lot about the “random quality” though. The lists were both a good thing, and also a sort of taskmaster thing, always calling me to duty. You know how the Old Testament talks about how all this work and things of life are vanity, in a certain sense? All is vanity, because in the end we leave it behind? That’s something I can appreciate more now. I could still use a little list, so that I won’t forget some important things, but I realized one day that I was a hugely duty-oriented, task-oriented personality. It wasn’t glory or recognition I desired…it was fulfilling my duties. The tasks are actually never-ending. So in having to let go of lists, because I can’t do most of the things I used to anyway, I gained some freedom. And I can orient my ideas of duty toward my duty to God.

Obama immigration plan blocked by 4-4 tie at Supreme Court
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_SUPREME_COURT_IMMIGRATION?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court deadlocked Thursday on President Barack Obama’s immigration plan that sought to shield millions living in the U.S. illegally from deportation, effectively killing the plan for the rest of his presidency.
The outcome underscores that the direction of U.S. immigration policy will be determined in large part by this fall’s presidential election, a campaign in which immigration already has played an outsized role.
People who would have benefited from Obama’s plan face no imminent threat of deportation because Congress has provided money to deal with only a small percentage of people who live in the country illegally, and the president retains ample discretion to decide whom to deport. But Obama’s effort to expand that protection to many others is effectively stymied…

I except a lot of big business will publicly come out against Trump because he is a threat to the profit margins. I once was the biggest defender of all business, big and small, but I’m finding fewer of them that I care to defend these days.

Mitt Romney’s Sports Authority Chain In Liquidation, Closing All Stores By August
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/06/22/mitt-romney-fails-sports-authority/
I expect the Romney supporters to shut up about Trump’s business failures, but they probably won’t.
The company that was routinely touted as a huge success by failed 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is now selling all of its assets and closing all of its stores by August.
All the assets of Romney’s success, Sports Authority, are being dissolved. For example, a court has has just released the NFL’s Denver Broncos team from a sponsorship contract with the company. That decision still leaves unresolved the company’s right to name the Denver Broncos’ home stadium. As part of the bankruptcy, the company is trying to sell the naming rights to “Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium” where the Broncos play their home games…

I’m sure this degree will be worth about as much as toilet paper.
http://hypeline.org/university-of-arizona-launching-a-transgender-studies-program/
The taxpayer funded University of Arizona will become the first university in America to offer a transgender studies program.
The program is set to launch by fall of 2017, and will grant master’s degrees.
The school’s program will focus on sex, gender, cultural issues, political issues, and the life experiences of transgender people.
This new program will be the result of the university’s Transgender Studies Initiative, introduced in 2013.
The school has also hired three new professors to teach in the program, and plans to hire a fourth.
“The three people who had been hired were all white, and we were really trying to prioritize hiring faculty of color,” said Susan Stryker, who is in charge of the new program.

Scott Adams (Dilbert creator) swings again for another home run essay:
http://blog.dilbert.com/post/146307088451/why-gun-control-cant-be-solved-in-the-usa
*“*I endorsed Clinton for president for my personal safety. I write about Trump’s powers of persuasion and it is not safe to live in California if people think you support Trump in any way.”
Another quote is the lede:
“On average, Democrats (that’s my team*) use guns for shooting the innocent. We call that crime.
On average, Republicans use guns for sporting purposes and self-defense.
Read it twice, and then go back and read his piece on why he endorses Hillary*.
The man’s a fine rhetoritician.

Hopefully Dems don’t figure this out, if you’re a vehicle-owner.
If they figure out we don’t put any right-leaning bumper stickers (…on average…) on our cars because we don’t want to get our car devalued by keying and window-breakage, they’re going to start keying cars with NO bumper stickers on them, and breaking their windows, and stomping on their roofs. And then we’re all going to have to put Liberal stickers on our cars, just to be safe.
It’s starting to look like 1933.

We have a long way to go. 16.8 million votes needed to win referendum, and each side is currently under 500,000 votes. Leave is about 3,000 votes in the lead. Another source:

If anyone has a plant that they are trying to identify I found this neat site. All you do is upload your picture and it seems that usually someone comes along with at least a guess.
http://www.walterreeves.com/name-that-plant/
Callisia warszewicziana is someones best guess for the name of the plant I bought at the farmers market. I am not plant person so I don’t really know how wide variants are for plants but the Callisia is supposed to get to be between 5 and 15 inches so I’m not sure if mine can be a CW. Plus the leaves on my are a lighter green.

That is one of the sites I looked at. I’m still not convinced that is my plant though 🤔 It doesn’t look quite right, plus my plant is already probably 18 inches tall. It says it gets purple flowers and the lady told me a single pink flower. I did show the picture to a young lady who works at a greenhouse and she thought it was super cool and doesn’t remember seeing one.
It can’t be that rare since the family who had it, had about 4 or 5 other ones and she said she had some that she sold at the market the week before also.

Yep, I’ve been following it online at BBC News, they’ve called it for leave. I heard one guy saying it was all about immigration. I guess folks are tired of being killed and raped by Moslems. What the heck is it with world leaders realizing that their citizens don’t enjoy what Moslems bring?

It’s interesting to hear them talk about establishment, globalization, immigration, economy, and people working and having access to their money. If you were listening and not knowing they were talking about the EU you’d think it was a discussion about our country.

In a way, it is. We started this ‘free feed bag for all’ program, first with our own people the pols wanted to buy and then with imported parasites they needed to push the numbers further in their favor. Problem they don’t see is all of those feral cats they given saucers of other’s milk to will consume them.

Yep it’s like this neighbor I once had who was a transplant to the country. She’d leave food out for the stray cats and then got upset when the coons, skunks, possums, etc. showed up at her back door.
Her biggest problem was once they learned where the free meal was they told their friends and before long none of them wanted to leave and they took up homestead and started raising lazy fat families who got angry when the food wasn’t out and broke into the feed barn and a few even found their way into the house and helped themselves. 🙂

I had a couple of transplant neighbors over the years who’d have been glad to see feral furry animals, even stray cats, show up at their kitchen doors. Had one who’d trapped a possum ask me what it was, after I told him he thoughtfully asked: “Can you eat it?”

Maybe it’s racist of me but I see those critters as all these people we allow in here legally and illegally who only want our free food and then bite us and tear up our stuff.
I see the stray cats as all these leaches we already have in this country who are too stupid to see those critters are going to force them away from the feed bowl.

I’ve posted it before and I’ll post it again. I have the letters my grand psrents had to submit to the government when my mother applied for an immigration permit. She was married to a GI but still needed my grand parents to submit letters stating that she would not become a ward of the state nor receive private welfare, that if need be they would house and feed her. That kind of requirement would be called racist today…OK, she spoke English and was white but you get the idea.

People with common sense running our country would still make that requirement.
We should want people who will contribute to our country not suck us dry.

My cousin’s son married a Norwegian. They had been married several years when they decided to come to the States. My cousin had to vouch for her, sign papers to support her and pay for her medical bill before they would let her in. That was just in the last 10 to 15 years. The government has just quit enforcing the laws unless you are a pale, blond Norwegian or the like.
