Why kids like dogs better:

More cat mayhem, but this time aimed at those pesky kids

That was bad czar, but I did chuckle.

Yeah, I debated it but you gotta admit that the way kids will treat cats there has to be more than one cat who’s thought about that…

Apparently it’s an international issue:

It may be Caturday, but I think the dog should have a say in it.

Our previously feralish Russian Blue has decided it’s great to spend tine outside again, especially now she has a hunting/play mate. She usually goes in and out, we go to the garage about 10 PM to close tbe garage door and she comes in. Last nite she missed lights out and spent the night outside, alone in the dark, cruel world. OK, it was a mostly full moon and she has cars and a truck to hide under but no comfy couch to sleep on.
This morning when I opened the back door to let a dog out she came running over the patio, meowing at the top of her lungs and dashed inside…straight for the cat box. She not only won’t eat out of the outside cat’s bowl but apparently prefers the inside cat box to the outside world. She’s been sleeping on a chair cushion, softly muttering cat expletives all day.

Learned a couple of things! (h/t Janie M., next door)
From WiseGeek: Do Cats Have Bones in Their Tails?
A cat’s tail is more than just a furry appendage. Even though it’s not technically part of the spinal cord, a cat’s tail has 19 to 23 vertebrae, about 10 percent of the total number of bones in the animal’s body. A labyrinth of muscles, ligaments, and tendons helps the kitty to strut, chase, communicate, and balance. Nerves extend from a cat’s spinal cord into the tail, and are connected to the hind legs, bladder, large intestine, and anus. Yanking on a cat’s tail can stretch or even tear the nerves, causing pain and possibly affecting the animal’s ability to walk.
A tale of two kitties:
• The average length of a male cat’s tail is 11 inches (28 cm). A female swishes a tail that averages 9.9 inches (25.1 cm) in length.
• The tail acts as a counterweight when the cat walks along narrow surfaces, like an acrobat on a high wire.
• Cats communicate with their tails. If a cat’s tail is held high, he’s a happy boy. A quiver at the tip of the tail means you’re the cat’s meow. But a feline whipping his tail back and forth may mean he’s annoyed and ready to pounce, claws first.

Hey guys, just dropped in to offer a really good movie, if you haven’t seen it. I found “Admiral” on Netflix tonight, historical movie about the Dutch in the Second Anglo-Dutch War, 17th century.
According to the movie, they had the only Republic in Europe (I guess that means anywhere) during the 17th century. It’s about the fight to keep their Republic, as the monarchies of Germany, France and Spain were all after them. Their merchant fleet was outstanding and they were free people. The movie has the stories of the families, as well as of the man who became the Admiral of the Fleet, a commoner, along with the Prince of Orange and the Prime Minister, a Republican. The opponents in their government were Orangeists. Fantastic sea battles, with the beautiful war ships of the fleets of England and the Dutch.
It does have subtitles, except when the British are talking. King Charles II doesn’t come across too well in this movie. But he has his Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, the royalty dogs, and my favorite doggies. 🙂
Have a good Sunday.

Thanks for the recommendation, Pam. My dear hubby, the retired Coast Guard captain, loves these types of movies. We’ll probably watch it tonight.
