Some nut case on Twitter posted a picture of a hand smashing a tomato with the caption,

NRA Logic “Knives don’t cut tomatoes people cut tomatoes.”

I responded “Where is the video of the knife cutting a tomato independent of a person’s aid? Knives don’t cut tomatoes people do.

Man, those fangs on that black cat! I had cats for a period of time in my life, but I don’t remember teeth like that.

In my early 20’s, I was already married (the really old days) to what turned out to be a lazy guy/husband but also he was a Green Beret Reserves man. He parachuted into Cambodia. It was a weird disconnect because our life wasn’t played out at home with super-responsibility on his part, if you get my drift.’

Anyway, we rented this little house outside of Greenville, SC where I worked for Xerox. It was down a country road, farms and cows and woods. One day I heard something at the kitchen door. It turned out to be this little tiny kitten and she was part Siamese. I took her in, of course, and named her Norma Jean (after Marilyn). I didn’t have a dog then and wasn’t trying to make Norma Jean into a dog, but one day I started throwing a pencil down the hallway. She quickly figured out she wanted to go get it and bring it back. So Norma Jean fetched pencils. I never had another cat who did that. My cats I had the most problem with were Siamese. They were brutal and screamed a lot.

And may God rest his soul. He died and I didn’t even know it until years later. He was pretty young when he died. His relatives I had known were already gone, so I never found out what happened. We had no children so there was no continuance of connection.

I had a Siamese mix, and he was very dog-like. He loved to ride in the car (would sit on the back of the seat so he could see out), and he loved sweets. He would take an oreo cookie apart and eat the frosting in the middle. Once he took a pound cake off the kitchen counter, dragged into my daughter’s bedroom and ate a lot of the pound cake under the bed.

The cat I have now (a female tortoise shell) steals anything that catches her eye and that she can lift, and carries it off (who knows where sometimes) to play with it. I have found things in the basement, and under my refrigerator (including a USB flash drive). She likes nail files, emery boards, remote controls. The other day she stole a package of Kleenex from my purse (have to keep that zipped too).

They all have different personalities, don’t they? I had a huge Doberman but I never did his ears so he wasn’t quite so scary-looking. He’d eat anything. One day I went into my bedroom and discovered he had taken a little jewelry box that was sitting on my dresser. It was full of pierced earrings. Well, it WAS, before. I took him to the vet. The vet was very amused, and said I could look for them later, if I wanted to.

Hope everyone had a good S/Caturday. For all those so inclined, have a blessed Sunday. Take care, y’all.
