      Good morning!

The sun is out and it’s 50 here. I’m hoping the sun stays out and it gets warm today and no rain. All I have left to putting my office back together is washing the blinds and putting them back up and it’s much easier to do outside with the water hose.

73 here in mountains of GA. Forest all around me, and my “new” yard is really green – 90% weeds. Pollen flying everywhere. The weather here is so much better than where I was. Last summer, our first here, I think it got to 90 maybe 2 or 3 times. Higher humidity through the winter, which is good for my body.

We’ve been having spring thunderstorms. Spectacular as the clouds build and roll across the mountains. Then the thunder starts, and you can hear it also rolling around, bouncing off the ridges. So cool.

When God made this little area, there is this nice phenomenon: the way the mountains are situated. The big fronts will come up from the Gulf or from the west. When the storm front approaches our area, it can be a really big mass; most of the time, as it gets to us, something happens and the thing just splits and either diffuses or goes around us somehow.

Good morning everybody! Lovely day here, sunny and cloudless, temp is 53; should be 70 this afternoon.

Trump rally this evening in New Jersey. The live feed begins at 6:30 pm.

This poem by Shel Silverstein reminds me of Menagerie’s comments yesterday:

    God’s Wheel by Shel Silverstein
GOD says to me with a kind
of smile, “Hey how would you like
to be God awhile And steer the world?”
“Okay,” says I, “I’ll give it a try.

    Where do I set?
    How much do I get?
    What time is lunch?
    When can I quit?”

“Gimme back that wheel,” says GOD.
    “I don’t think you’re quite ready YET.”

Trump taps climate change skeptic, fracking advocate as key energy advisor

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-energy-idUSKCN0Y41ZP

Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has asked one of America’s most ardent drilling advocates and climate change skeptics to help him draft his energy policy.

U.S. Republican Congressman Kevin Cramer of North Dakota – a major oil drilling state – is writing a white paper on energy policy for the New York billionaire, Cramer and sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Cramer was also among a group of Trump advisers who recently met with lawmakers from western energy states, who hope Trump will open more federal land for drilling, a lawmaker who took part in the meeting said.

This Is a War We’re in, Damn It

    http://spectator.org/this-is-a-war-were-in-damn-it/

My friend and mentor, Heritage Foundation founder Ed Feulner has always said that in the war of ideas there ‎is no room for pacifists. Even more so in a cultural war.

Why do so few conservatives get that? The left does. That’s why it is winning….

Here’s my point. The Trump movement — not necessarily even Trump himself — is a welcome and so needed rallying cry against the radicalization of the left and their ridiculous causes — whether it’s transgender bathrooms, climate change fanaticism, 80 percent tax rates on anyone who is successful, free college tuition for illegal immigrants, or whatever the latest liberal grievance is. The other day the leftists protested in Chicago against a billionaire hedge fund manager for not paying his “fair share” of taxes. This is a man who has given $500 million to Chicago area arts, schools, and charities. ‎

I almost laugh out loud when I see anti-Trumpers on the right say: “he doesn’t share our conservative values.” I feel like screaming: Don’t you get it. The left has been assaulting our conservative values without serious opposition for decades. We’ve been like the French in the two world wars, just folding as the Germans march right into Paris. Those “conservative values” have been run over by liberal tanks. By joining the leftists against Trump brigades, you’re aiding and abetting the people who were driving the vehicle. I even see there is now a Republicans for Hillary movement. Don’t let the door hit you on your fannies on the way out of the party….

Those of you with dogs: I just received dog treats ordered from Costco, and the dog and CAT both love them. They are Nature’s Domain Grain Free Jerky Treats With Real Wild Boar. They are not cheap, but were couponed. The first ingredients are Wild Boar, Pork, Pea Flour, Glycerin, Pork Liver, Natural Smoke Flavor. The rest are water, vitamins, color and preservatives (sorbic acid and potassium sorbate).

The fact that the CAT likes them indicates to me that they are pretty good. She is very picky. Doesn’t like even the best wet cat or dog food, only certain dry cat food, canned tuna or roast chicken, and crackers.

We could send some from Michigan, too. Problem is that people think every deer is Bambi, hate guns, and want to be “compassionate”. The idea is stupid, devised by ignorant people.

Yep. Here in WI if you hit a deer (by accident) with your car, you can bring it home and make a meal.

Being from Chicago it took me a while to get used to deer tied to people’s cars during the hunting season. It still is a bit of a shock to me.

Apparently our local animal shelter has a couple of fawns that someone brought in as “strays” 🙄 I have no idea what they are going to do with them.

We also have a deer farm near here, I took my girls there when they were young for a hayride and to pick pumpkins. The owners were giving a tour and the father was all farmer and not politically correct, he told a group of small kids about someone getting gored by a buck ( in quite graphic detail) and then he complained for about 5 minutes about regulations on deer farming and butchering.

          It was an interesting experience.

Ditto here in Michigan if you hit a deer. My friend’s daughter was the recipient of a deer hit by a car – the local fire department called her husband, and they filled their freezer.

The office park where I worked had a large herd, which couldn’t be shot because it was in the city limits. People fed them, and they would allow you to get very close. They repaid our kindness by eating the shrubbery and trees.

The last winter I worked there, I narrowly avoided hitting one of the darlings on two different occasions. The second time was so narrow that I only just saw it before braking, and it jumped over my front fender. I got out of the car to be sure I hadn’t actually hit it.

They can really cause damage to your car if you hit one. My friend hit two in one year and totaled one of his cars.

My sister the bleeding heart liberal hit one, it didn’t die immediately so she sat on the side of a busy highway right next to it to make sure it was going to “pass on”. I don’t know what her plan was if it didn’t die but thankfully it did.

I know I’m a wuss, but I’m not liberal. I have no problem in my mind with people hunting deer. They have to be culled. And no problem with eating the meat. I still know that I’d have to be really hungry to do it myself. One of the nicest things when we moved to our little house near the top of the hill next to the forest, was last winter the deer came down to the houses where people will leave some food out for them. I got to watch two of them right out the window of the back of my house, so close to me. They were the ones with the long, pretty tails. There was a 12-point buck my neighbor knew, but I never saw him. I could tell the previous owners had left deer food out back for them, because we sort of figured it out when they were hanging, waiting for it.

Sometimes I’d walk up to the window and there they would be. One of them would just look right into the window and stare. She could see me. She just looked and looked. I figured out she was saying “hey, get some food out here please.” My husband would go out and put it down; they’d run up the hill, then come right back to eat.

We had wild turkeys, too. Hilarious to watch a whole bunch of them gobbling all over our driveway and yard. My husband came in one day and said he saw this huge peacock out where the deer would come. I said “huh?! There can’t be wild peacocks running around here.” Then one day I saw it out the same window. It was the biggest turkey I have ever seen. I have no idea how to guess its weight but it was HUGE. I called my husband and said “is this the peacock?” He had to laugh, finally.
